Help needed with a calc

So I’m trying to calculate the KE of the debris from a gigantic rupture on the moon. The debris entered orbit and I’m trying to find the speed at which it did.
here’s the scan

why not assume the velocity?
Because it’s a debate over whether they were traveling at escape velocity or not. The argument for them not traveling at EV is that they went into orbit and didn’t escape the moon completely. The argument for is that since the rocks permanently escaped the moon surface, as well as the rocks forming the ring so quick, the debris must’ve been traveling at escape velocity.
