Hazbin Hotel Discussion Thread

It is ONE of TWO ways. "Much higher" is in the first part, the second part is "may also", not "must also". So there are just two ways.
This is basic English💔
Which he never uses as a teleport. He reforms obviously.
(Besides, once again, why would he use shadow to dodge stuff if he can just do it normally? "Aura-farm"?)
It's pretty easy to dodge something when you phase into the ******' floor.

It's pretty easy to dodge stuff if you don't waste your time and just dip out of there too...
Going into the floor is literally the same as getting out of there.
What did he do to go to Charlie room to manipulate her?
Link his shadow and travel there.
He wasn't really able to dodge him without shadows the first time Vox tagged him tho, but easily reacted when he became a shadow, so...
Vox has hands the size of trucks, no shit he can't dodge well normally. It's objectively easier to just go into the floor or across a building and dodge like that.

Also pretty much every instance here:

Decides to shadow away under ground instead of just running, I wonder why (definitely doesn't act as teleport):

Not really? What's the difference between going sideways or doing so as a shadow?

Notice how every time he "teleports", he's coming up from the ******* ground.

What's the difference between going sideways and going into the floor? Oh, right. Alastor isn't an idiot, he's doing fairly optimal shit in combat, which includes abusing the fact that he can go into the floor and act with his shadow.

Looks to me like blitzing ngl
Immeasurable speed pretty much
This one can be just seen as him being discrete
I had to google what that means lol since I only know the word in context of discrete vs. continuous data
he'd have trouble convincing Charlie to make a deal if Vaggie was there ya know
Eh, fair ig
Same goes for pretty much every instance in the "teleport" video
I mean, what about Pentious scene or Vox trolling scene
besides maybe this one?
This too

And also Vees fight one I mentioned

Genuinely powerscaling is the only place where people look at Alastor's shadow melting and say "nah this is just aura-farm/floor advantage"

Literally every single person I met outside of this referred to it as teleportation (even title of the video serves as proof lmao)

If you wanna act that tough may as well argue that it isn't intangibility either, just floor phasing with no way to be indexed, since Vox interacts with him and all of his shadows are meant to be tangible (tentacles, clones, etc.)

Visually, it doesn't come off as the traditional teleportation but for simplicity most people call it that. Throughout season 1 we see he doesn't travel between two points instantly. (Which is what teleportation is)

Honestly, it just comes off as him moving a lot faster in shadow form.

Yeah that's the point of pseudo-teleportation, and that's what most people mean when saying teleportation in such contexts. Nobody is arguing he is literally ignoring the distance and instantly goes from A to B

This is literally what Reaper argues against

Nice, does he still ignore obstacles on his way?

Pretty much none in terms of dodging, yet he struggles to do the first normally but not the latter as a shadow.
Let's do an experiment. If a truck three meters wide is racing at you and you have a wall to your back, what's easier? Moving the two or so meters it takes for it to miss, or moving a meter behind you because your shadow can slip through the cracks?

Honestly, he'd have FTL travel speed with his shadow. It's clearly not his normal running speed and whatnot, it's just not superior to his combat speed. There.

And who says it's gotta be faster than combat speed lol

The first one from the Pilot is also useful given that he forms behind them mid-conversation without them noticing
He did do it that one when they both weren't looking at him so I'm more skeptical of it than the Lu one.

Rethinking it though, do think just the Lu one is enough to index the shadow thing as Pseudo-TP

Logically you turning into a shadow could take ages, while you could logically be FTL, so that wouldn't be an issue.
