Hazbin Hotel Discussion Thread

Hey, he does say it's meant to be a punishment. If it was that easy to loophole it wouldn't make much sen-oh who are we kidding these are the same angels who didn't think their own weapons could hurt them

Honestly, wouldn't be surprised if that just got retconned. Like it's either "he's stupid because he doesn't do X" or "he's not stupid because the rules **** him over". Given the new standard I wouldn't be surprised if that's just an outlier now lol. (Watch this turn out to be some grand plan and Alastor is somehow just an exception due to Rosie rules)
Erm actually, Alastor isn't a sinner and he and Rosie are the same being, it was always his masterplan since the pilot!

After rewatching, screw Vox. Not for his sins, crimes, or anything to do with writing. He ruined Lucifer's PEAK solo performance HIT with his own excuse for a lullaby (his part is actually decent but doesn't compare to what Lu was cooking in the beginning).

Bro makes a deal with himself despite the fact that he's still alive yet he's talking to himself in hell to give himself more power than he himself already has while shackling himself to himself. Sukuna-ass binding vow, just give himself more power while making it so that he has to listen to himself

Tbf I’ve seen most people say that he could’ve sent Sins rather than Goetia
A few things
  1. Lucifer is a fraud who has actual negative IQ based on what he's shown
  2. He's incredibly depressed and a shut-in who doesn't like confronting people or talking to others unless he thinks it can help him with his relationship with his daughter
  3. I think it's also funny to think the Sins wouldn't even do it cause from their perspective their boss/friend has been ghosting them for at least 7 years and then he calls you randomly not to say that he wants to talk or that he's going to do his job now but cause he wants you to drive out of town, take time out of your day and work to come to his town, and beat up some random shmuck cause he can't do it himself. Oh and he's not gonna start doing his job again he just wants you to do it for him.

Yeah the more I think about it the less plot holes there actually are with the weakness, it should have been mentioned earlier and less people would have been mad ngl

Nah man, he can't, he has to keep acting, he's the mastermind behind the masterplan

you should also count that Heaven has a sun inside of it...and is big enough to hold several things, like, it holds 100 billion souls or something
TBF, IIRC the population of the Pride Ring is only in the millions at most since Vox says "in the thousands" as if that's impressive.

I think it was either in the Pilot or early Season 1 where they say the Angels killed 10(+)% of Hell's population, so it's likely that there's way less souls in Hell than we imagine.

Especially since people doing Soul deals probably lets them subsume the soul in some way and therefore keeps the population low.

Either that or Vivian needs to consider how many people have died before she spouts statistics through the characters lol

It's believable that there might be a bunch of loopholes since it seems that it was the Angel's who "clipped his wings" and Angels seem to be fairly trusting by and large, so there's probably a work around.

Personally, I'm surprised he can't even defend himself like against the Vees.

More likely, it'll just be explained away as an Audience visual, not a literal thing that happens in the story unless Alastor and Luci both have Reality warping abilities that they just never use in a fight (this is sarcasm)

And Carmilla in an official statement to Overlords say that there are millions of souls they own collectively.

That’s just Vox being figurative + VivziePop sucking at math (Lute killed like 200 Sinners as if that’s impressive, do you wanna say Hell has about 100000+ Sinners since the beginning of the Earth and they are still overpopulated? Do humans populate as fast as (1/rabbits) in Hellaverse?

He also said that he is sh*t ay

Seriously though, I feel he was hyperbolic there for the sake of scaring, but I’m sure Hazbin powerscalers will find wаnk the hell out this.
I’ve listened to the song way too many times, now I recant this goofy ahh statement.

Also maybe a hot take but Lucifer’s part of Vox Populi is the best song of S2 and is in the same league as the icons of S1 like Hell is Forever, Hell’s Greatest Dad, Stayed Gone. It’s only negative is that it is rather short (screw you, SCREW YOU TV-MAN)

I liked it, my only real small nitpick is the voice Lucifer was using, it's like he was tryna act tuff.

Carmilla says that overlords hold over millions of souls, a Playbill shows that Velvette has 100 million followers (unlikely for them to be hellborn)

Also %16 is not from the Pilot

And Adam claims Vaggie killed THOUSANDS in only 4 exterminations (so she is goated and better than Lute in exterminations I guess? Maybe Lute was jealous and thats why she was so bad to her)

I honestly think either would be hilarious.

In that, you can't kill a soul, but Overlords being capable of using souls as a resource for their powers and in effect keeping the population reduced from what it could fully be. We also know that Alastor was able to kill Overlords in some way and threatened to shred Husk's soul and broadcast his screams.

And if you consider that Sera and Adam's view on what "overpopulation" looks like could honestly be in the thousands to millions given that it all started with a population of 2. It's like having a pair of rabbits and checking back on them only to find that there's thousands. It would probably feel like an overpopulation, especially when they want all the carrots you keep in your drawers.

I imagine some of them are, given we know there's Imps who phones in the Pride Quarter so I imagine there would be Imps, Hellhounds and so on who are also parasocially invested in Velvette especially as she's a powerful Overlord.

why would a Imp follow a overlord?WITH WHAT REASON?

why would a Imp follow a overlord?WITH WHAT REASON?
I imagine for the same reason why they flock to the Sins and Goetia. Imps seem to be willing to serve pretty much anyone powerful enough as long as they get a job of sorts.

i think it does, because Overlords get power from sinners, not from ******* souless hellborn (not racist)

Bro social media IRL doesn't even run on the same species argument, have yall SEEN animal videos?
...good point, but i think it is different, i am talking about the numerics of how many sinners are in Hell, obviosly, BILLIONS, since it is basically what it is being hinted at

That's racist.
Felt like Alexander was moreso referring to powerless imps but didn't word it correctly.

I'm canonically blind and deaf.
that is completely different, since Alastor DEAL was for him to be the strongest in hell (sinner, in hell)
That's still a strong hellborn making a deal with a sinner for the sinner to get power from the hellborn.

Yeah, but they need people for more than just power. Like I doubt every single one of the dancers in Vox Populi are all under Valentino's direct control with a soul deal.

Likewise, we see Modified/Knock-off Fizzbots used by the Vees, so it's clear they still need people in service roles, which is what Imps and other Hellborn usually occupy.

We see him try Zestial of all people too, but not Rosie? I reckon Vox at least knows something about Rosie to make him not want to even ask her like he did with even Zestial, who hates the Vees and who Vox barely even tried to convince.
Its a known fact that the cannibals helped the hotel fight the Angels directly. Given he stalks Alastor like the plague he most likely knows that Rosie is the closest sinner to Alastor and such isnt worth dealing with

Guys, hear me out
The name of Vox's second song, Vox Dei, translates to 'the voice of god'
The Speaker of God's name could basically be seen as the same thing, God's voice

What if Vox and the Speaker of God face off once Vox tries to assault Heaven

Plus there's the whole "you need to convince literally everyone in the town" aspect so Vox might just not want to deal with it or assumes that they'd just join in anyway by proxy of mob mentality.

Outside of numbers they dont offer him much, and Vox's plan already has that in literal spaxes

Yeah, though Carmilla also gave weapons to the Hotel. Likewise, Zestial seems to have a good friendship with Alastor not dissimilar to what it appeared like in Season 1 with Rosie.

And you'd have thought he would have at least tried a little, do the same ineffectual nothing burger he tried with Carmilla and Zestial in the song "Bad with Us"

They'll probably have to interact, if the Speaker of God shows up at all (Since it seems she can disappear and reappear whenever she wants)

But ultimately, it's from a saying "Vox populi, vox Dei" which means "The Voice of the People is the Voice of God."

So in the themes of the show, where Vox is a petty imitator (First copying Alastor, then copying Lucifer and Sera's Seraphim form and ultimately trying to copy God), he becomes "Vox Populi", the People's Voice and declares himself God through the masses he's whipped up. In Vox Dei he declares himself the ruler of Hell while assuming the form of the Seraphim, the rank of whom are the closest to God and then likens himself to aspects of God "I'm your Omega, I'm the flood".

So, it's more likely to be a reference and theme than it is foreshadowing fighting the Speaker of God.

Carmilla gave them weapons out of necessity and self interest, which Vox knew. Rosie on the other hand just seemingly did it to do it.

Oh yeah, another point against going to cannibal town. Literally anyone who doesn't look appropriate to the time period gets mauled by the town and eaten. I dont think the walking flat-screen would want to be anywhere near there

Also, it’s just come to me what Alastor’s plan is.

Alastor demanded that Rosie make him stronger because he couldn’t defeat Adam, which Rosie pointed out being the strongest sinner doesn’t make you as strong as an Archangel.

Alastor then sings “Don’t you forget” with Rosie and then cracks outside only to realise what’s his next move, "fighting" the Vees and then surrendering, tipping the balance of Hell.

This all came to me thinking about the Speaker of God vs Vox, and how if even Alastor couldn’t compare to Adam, how would Vox compare to the Speaker of God. Then it hit me.

Vox united the Overlords likely to steal their power and then Lucifer’s. Following this, Alastor’s deal would not be met and either Rosie would need to give him more power possibly more than she can give (or maybe not if she’s Roo/Rue) or end the deal.

Meaning either Alastor gains unimaginable power, enough to conquer the cosmos after Vox is defeated or he’s free of his deal with Rosie and can do what he wants.

Either way, he wins.
