Garfiel Tinsel (Re:Zero) Vs. Crocodile (One Piece)

"Divine Protection of Earth Spirits: As long as he has his feet on the ground, his body is covered in a tough guard of earth. He can cause the earth to cave in with a single step, reduce the effects of Earth Magic, and accelerate the recovery of wounds and stamina." I assume this would make it harder for Crocodile to do that?

What does Crocodile do?
Basically, he can create sand, manipulate it and turn himself into sand too.

If Garfiel can find about Crocodile weakness, that he can be damaged if soaked with water/liquid, he can win the same way Luffy did on Alabasta Arc. Crocodile sand isn't fast enough to catch Garfiel.

The explanations on Crocodile are lacking, I think.

Crocodile is a human who has eaten the "Suna-Suna no mi", turning him into a Sand-man. This is a logia ability, meaning that his body becomes, produces, manipulates and even enhances sand (to some degree). He has the ability to affect the weather (preventing rain), create massive sand-storms, absorb the moisture out of anything his hand touches, and he can turn the ground into more sand to manipulate as he sees fit.

Also, he's got that golden hook, which covers a poison hook that can melt upon touch. Even a little bit can kill a person rather quickly

Garfiel will not discover Crocodile's weakness unless it's anything beyond even "dumb luck". Considering he is more instinctive than analytical (which is proven all the time in his case), he'll be hopelessly trying to kill Crocodile with ineffective attacks before eventually coming to no conclusion on how to handle Crocodile.

So what we have is that Crocodile's non-grabbing attacks wouldn't be very effective against Garfiel, but Garfiel will not be able to land any meaningful attack unless he somehow pieces together that water can harden Crocodile's body--but this is also a gamble due to Crocodile being able to absorb water through his palm.

Also, blood hardens sand as well, so if Garfiel is injured, and has blood splash on his fist or Crocodile's body, he can land a hit, but again, this is not something he will know, and would need to be injured first.

Crocodile takes this.

Crocodile wins, probably a stomp given Garfiel can't do anything based on his profile.

So, I'll take that as 2 votes for Mr. Grumpy Croc then? In Arc 4 Garfiel did make much more of an efffort to think about battle plans seen in his battle against Otto, and his actions against Subaru. What if Garfiel transforms since he realizes that his base is ineffective does that change things very much or even at all?

Contrary to what is believed arc 4 garfiel does not rely much on his insticts and thinks rationally. Ram criticized him saying that he should stop thinking and rely more in his instincts on this arc, so people should have in mind that he would fight this while thinking in a plan to win against crocodile sand invincibility.

Crocodile has very low close range combat ability compared to garfiel and would be heavily relying on his invincibility against garfiel. Once garfiel discover his weakness he is done. Garfiel on other hand is strong, fast, has boundless stamina and can regenerate trough healing magic and with no big weakness as crocodile have. I think they would keep fighting until garfiel discover crocodile weakness and win.

I vote for garfiel.

Re Zero is in revisions, which were paused due to the forum move, the current scaling to 8-A is wrong, the mid tiers will probably be 8-B again.
