Really, most earthquake calcs here are rather exaggerated power wise
- A 1.1 Kiloton explosion in the middle east generated earthquakes heard 150 miles away and was measured as a 3.3 magnitude earthquake by a US geological survey team despite being thousands of miles away
- The Tsar Bomba generated enough energy seismic energy to be read across the planet and its seismic waves circled the planet three times and was measured as a Magnitude 5 to 5.25 earthquake
- The OG Atomic Bombs generated earthquakes that could be felt from Hawaii and California despite being detonated in Japan
- The distance between the HQ of the USGS and Beirut is 9364 kilometers
- The formula would look like this: (3.3) + 6.399 + 1.66*log10((9364/110)((2π)/360)) = 9.98443050518 = 5.9792e+19 Joules
- The US survey actually created a map of the explosion with the Merc intensity scale and if we used our stuff for it you'd get similar rather highballed results
