Well, you should explain why and what kind of upgrade would that be, same on your arceus thread. I know you posted the links but an explanaition would allow the members to quickly understand your point.
I think dormammu should be a low 2-B since he made a thousand universes crumble and he barely lost to scarlet witch who could warp the whole marvel multiverse and with the evil eye he should be a 2-B as he defeated her with ease and in his own realm he should be a low 1-B as he fought multi eternity and while he lost, eternity was so weak that nightmare one shot him
Well, the problem is that Dormammu is insanely inconsistent.
Eternity was not displayed at anywhere near tier 1-B in the story in question (in fact, Multi-Eternity was not mentioned as far as I remember), and Dormammu was still stalemated by the Defenders afterwards.
The Scarlet Witch was not displayed at anywhere near her almost 40 years later "House of M" level power during the Avengers/Defenders war, and so onwards.
And in addition, Dormammu has recurrently been shown damaged by tier 8 characters, such as Cyclops and Frankensteins Monster.
Hence, in lack of better options, we tried to rate him at his higher levels, at which he is not overwhelmingly superior to Doctor Strange.
Regrettably, sometimes there are no good solutions.
Yes, this is true. Dormammu can very much defeat cosmic entities, and destroy universes, when at his peak. However, at his lowest, he can be defeated by street level characters. It depends entirely on the writer.
Hi, I have been following this site for a while now and the tier list seems accurate, but there is something that has been driving me nuts. In a few of the Dr. Strange comics, extra dimesional beings like Tiboro, Nightmare, and Dormammu are all said to be from a higher dimension. Tiboro rules the 6th dimension, Nightmare is said to be from a higher dimension than the 6th, and Dormammu is somewhere in that range when he is in his dimension. Does that mean that Tibro= Low 1-C in his dimension? Nightmare= 1-C in his dimension? And would Dormammu be around that power range in his dimension? I know that marvel has many inconsistencies, but I am very curious about this
Well, as you said, we do not rank Dormammy higher due to the extreme inconsistencies concerning the character. In practice, he has only demonstrated Universe level+ feats, and at his lowest, he has been defeated or damaged by street level characters, which is the reason for his downgrade.
Basically, most Marvel writers apparently completely ignore, or do not understand what higher-dimensional truly means, and do not even seem aware that Dormammu was defined as such at one point, and combined with the inconsistencies, his tier is almost impossible to accurately pin down.
Yeah I am also a bit meh on the higher-dimensional thing since it could be 4 dimensional so I will drop that. He should be at least a regular 2-C since he defeated the Vishante and also someone with the power of the whole Phoenix force and he is above Umar who made 2 universes shudder
