How? Akira had deal with demons and devils from the beginning of the series, as Devilman he had all the knowledge of Amon about the Afterlife and he had face Satan itself.

I don't see how Spawn is gonna be a complete different opponent for him.

1) Spawn is no different, since most of time his true power is never unlocked.

Akira has lack of experience against opponents like Spawn, which are Reality Warpers. Most of time when reality is collapsing, he only resist to it, wich does not give him real experience in dealing with them. Only in Violence Jack he was able to defeat Satan.
