Destiny General Discussion Thread

It would be more accurate to say that the Darkness is a representation of the Winnower. It does have all of the Darkness's powers, but that doesn't really mean anything with it still only being a rule of the game.
Should the Nine possess Conceptual Manipulation Type 1, given that their domain exists beyond time and space?

Aren't the Nine only called extradimensional without further elaboration beyond a different view of time? Either way that alone wouldn't be enough for Type 1 Conceptual Manipulation.

With the limited information we have on the Nine, it might be premature for me to speculate on their hax.

After finishing the main story for Edge of Fate, there's quite a lot of information about the Nine now.

will the Guardians lose their resistance to fate after the events in Edge of Fate?

will the Guardians lose their resistance to fate after the events in Edge of Fate?

If anything it's doubled down on. It's once again reiterated that in order to escape their own fate, the Nine need to rely on the paracausal.

"It cannot be done. The Weapon will do it."

"You are a Weapon to defy fate."

"A diversion from fate.
"

And so forth. The question this saga, of whether Guardians really do make their own fate, is a philosophical one, rather than regarding metaphysical rules of reality.

I just wanna say, as a console player it isn’t fair I’m forced to play against PC players who can easily use a hand cannon from sniper distance and each shot is a crit cause they can easily aim with a mouse n keyboard. Crucible is so bad I’d rather play CoD then touch any PvP Destiny offers

The story and PvE though is amazing

I stopped playing after it went to steam, and quit trying to get back into it when they archived all the content I enjoyed.

Neither of those statements is necessarily true.
You go from beating Oryx to loosing to some Cabal Warlord wannabe so bad you barely survive.

I know there's more context to Gaul(or whatever his name is spelled as) but yeah.

I'm sure that if you look into it, you'll find that you only beat Oryx under very specific circumstances, and the player doesn't actually scale to his level. I'd have to go back and check, though.

In the immaterium you basically take half a dozen steps to make Akka start weakening him for not being fed enough, but yeah, player profiles for MMOs either vary or you get very innacurate ratings. Just look at the Final Fantasy MMO profiles.

I thought the warlock page was a pseudo-stand-in for the Player. Why don't we have a player Guardian profile?

Primarily because it would be a gigantic page that would also constantly need to get updated so long as Destiny 2 continues getting new content.

What abilities WOULD a Prismatic subclass get?

Not much tbh. Limited Nonduality (or whatever power fits best, since there's a site-wide crt going regarding that), Limited Invulnerability Negation and further stat amps with Transcendence. We got surprisingly little lore on Prismatic.

I would have thought the class also gained access to all other subclass abilities, given it's essentially the guardian channelling their light and darkness simultaneously?

I assumed you were referring to new/unique abilities.

You only fight an extremely nerfed Oryx.

Personally I'm one of those who thinks Oryx at his peak is above the witness prior to the whole pale heart thing

It's been a while but basically oryx set a whole pyramid scheme in order to keep his worm feed which allowed him to **** off and do whatever he wanted.

When the guardian (we) kill Crota the whole thing starts to collapse and his outtakes outweigh his intakes and the worm (which gets him power) starts devouring him or starving (don't remember which).

This trend continues all the way after defeating real space Oryx as you defeat his court. Oryx's worm is basically starved to death when you encounter him at the end of King's fall and even then you need to turn the light he has consumed against him, otherwise you can't damage him.

Also the fact that Oryx was talking to the actual winnower is a thing thanks to the final shape dlc

Nah. Edge of Fate is just the start of the saga. There's undoubtedly more feats and explanations coming and they will likely require individual pages as well.

Do or would we consider the Guardian to be able to matterspark anywhere or just on Kepler?

Not sure. I haven't looked much into the dialogue surrounding the Kepler abilities.
