i dont remember it being said, i remember it being that the ability doesnt work in gods

If memory serves me correctly, Xenoverse pretty much states that demonic magic doesn't work on those with God Ki. Not only was Beerus unaffected by Demigra's mind hax and was only pretending to be affected, but later in the game when Demigra fought a post Super Saiyan God ritual Goku he questioned why his magic didn't work on him with both of them affirming that it was due to Goku's new found God Ki.
So I don't think it has less to do with them being gods and more to do with how God Ki works

Even if it was just because they are gods, I don't think it would leak to other media since each have different gods and mechanics.
