DC Comics - (Post Crisis) Superman Variable Durability Justification

To add more justification to Superman's Variable durability and to prove his durability factually varies.

In Adventures of Superman #426, when Superman loses his memories from falling into an Apokoliptian Fire Pit, he is knocked out. They take a torch to his skin and he's invulnerable to the fire....until he wakes up and badly burns his hand, since without his memories, he believes he'd be vulnerable to the fire.

Seems solid! He mentality effects his durability and resistances, but it's also effected by the depletion of stored up solar radiation which he may have lost in the impact of the Apokoliptian fire pit.

I think the same mechanism should be applied to other post crisis and rebirth (like Jon) Kryptonians
