Dashes when listing Techniques

I've just noticed a trend amongst the character pages in which every major technique is listed with a dash. For example:

-Technique A

-Technique B

Is there a particular reason for this? I don't find them particularly visually attractive (which is why I prefer bullets) but I was just curious.

I think it's just sorta this standard people have developed, it's not an official thing people have to do, just something users have grown comfortable using (I myself prefer bullets as well).
