The two students stood in front of the building, one of whom gazed at the place in awe. It was a tall glamorous hotel with a sign that said "MTT" at the top. The front of the place was a fountain with a statue of the famed superstar shooting water as the centerpiece, this time aiming into the pool below. Red carpets lined the entrance even at the stairs leading a to a pristine glass door with a seemingly overworked hotel employee waiting it. The entrance was much more spectacular with shiny clean yellow tiles, lots of potted plants, and various paintings and statues depicting Mettaton himself and various other people he's worked with (Though it was mostly the former).

"Isn't this simply magnificent?! I'm going to have a chance to work with a star! This is simply the BEST. POSSIBLE. THING!" said Rarity.
"I don't know, Rarity. Last time you had an opportunity like this you wound up working for some egomaniac with control issues. How'd ya know this ain't gonna be the same?" asked Applejack, unamused by the excessive self portraits of this star.

"Don't be so pessimistic, darling. I'm positively certain this one will be different".
"If I recall this guy has has been charged for attempted murder in his record".

Before anything could follow that up, a door in front of them opened as floodlights shone through, followed by Mettaton and some bodyguards walking through. The door promptly closed off, allowing the two students to rub their eyes from the presentation.

"Hello darlings! One of you two must be the one who passed the audition!" said the superstar, much to the cowgirl's dismay.
"Ah great, there's two of em" she replied.

"I see that you're absolutely astonished by my presence that you're shivering. Which is great because the backstory recording comes after the show. Come along now" said Mettaton, noticing that designer was shivering in delight and nervousness "Oh also, ladies and gentlemen, can you escort her girlfriend to the backstage?". "What, no! It ain't like that! We're not..." Applejack stammered while blushing furiously as she was dragged away. Back at the stage, the superstar offered a paper bag for Rarity to hyperventilate in before beginning an explanation for what they were about to do in this particular show.

"I assume my agent had told you what you need to know?" he asked.
"Why of course! Though fighting is a rather odd request from your demographic. Do we really have to?" the designer replied.

"Oh yes! You gotta appease the target audience, darling".
"Oh well".

The two soon stepped up on the stage, positioned in an open park as a film crew stood at the edge with their camera and equipment. Mettaton readied himself up for his speech, the director signalling that the cameras are now recording

Welcome beauties to our annual gladiatorial match! Today we have a student from Canterlot High who along with her friends defeated that monstrous demon who threatened the existence of all things living. Now she is here to test her might against your fabulous and undefeated star! As you know, there is not enough room in this stage that is the world and if you wish to become a star... You must defeat me and take it for yourself!

Time to get things going!

Mettaton is 0.024 tons, whilst I can't find any calculations for Rarity's AP in this key. Durability might be pointless for Rarity since Undertale's Durability Bypassing Soul Hax says hi. Speed is equal, but I should mention the range of Rarity's energy projection is undefined while Mettaton's range is tens of meters with his magic. Rarity has the Lifting Strength advantage but that's relatively pointless considering how Mettaton typically fights. Intelligence is in Mettaton's ballpark, funny enough. And lastly, Rarity might beat Mettaton in stamina due to how Mettaton EX form works, but i don't know for sure... And that's all I can do talk about regarding pure stats.

Let's get into the nitty-gritty details, then, and what I believe makes this a complete victory for Mettaton. His bullet hell capabilities. Rarity's Base Key lacks any real mention of acrobatic skill or notable combat skill, telling me that she lacks the ability to effectively dodge the shit-ton of projectiles that Mettaton throws in character, whilst it should be mentioned that Rarity can conjure a forcefield to protect herself... there isn't anything telling me that Mettaton's danmaku can't eventually break through the forcefield for now.

Let's talk about the few advantages that Rarity has. First off, Mettaton does have a short battery life, so Rarity can try to outlast him but that might be a tricky thing to do. Secondly, Mettaton's Soul Hax doesn't one-shot, but it is going to be a bitch since it still bypasses normal durability so she needs to rely on the **** out of her forcefield if she doesn't want to get screwed by undertale's soul hax. If Rarity obtains enough bloodlust, she might be able to bypass Mettaton's durability and one-shot him like his Neo Form, but that is probably not in character for Rarity so this is a moot point.

For now, due to Mettaton's soul-bypassing Danmaku and the distance between them, I vote for him... for now, at least.

Also, wtf do you mean by “again?” I never saw any discussion since I don’t know shit about Undertale. Don’t be annoying with me.
Because every single time I see a match with these characters, someone always opens up with "Soul Hax GG" or something along the lines of that so I came with that saying for every time that happens. Usually it works

But anyway, no it does not one-shot. It simply damages the SOUL and Mettaton occasionally uses physical attacks

I’m actually confused
Basically, Undertale's soul hax has never showcased the ability to one-shot people's souls in-verse. So it'll never happen in Vs. Battles. It deals damage and bypasses normal durability, but it is "dogshit" due to the fact that it can't be used to one-shot folks... Does help in giving Undertale Folks (Sans, mostly, tbh) a lot of matches, tho, since it allows the Monsters to have a fighting chance.

Also, don't mind, Pepper. This Undertale Soul Manip doesn't one-shot is frequently brought up, so he might just be annoyed by it and is inadvertently taking it on you by accident. Or at least this is what I, Fanta, think.

Actually give me a discussion thread instead of saying that just because, or your source is “bro trust me”

Hmm... I got something that might help through me giving the AP of Rarity.

First off, I would like to say that I am bad at math and may have made a mistake. Secondly, I am assuming that Rarity is scaled to Pinky and Applejack since the former is scaled to the latter who is also the one with a calculation that tells what her exact AP values are. It is 65,175,909.9 Joules, which when converted into tons of TNT with an energy calculator, equals 0.02 tons of TNT or something. If this is wrong... Don't hesitate to correct me, Fanta, in the slightest. Honestly, I am surprised that it is much easier to pick out an opponent from the higher tiers, i.e 8-C and above, when compared to choosing weaker characters, i.e 8-B and below.

Because the gap between baseline and high end isn't that big. If I recall the few tiers with a crazy gap between baseline and high end was 4-B and that's why so many characters are there

Fine then, I'll do it myself

She mostly just positions her forcefields in front of herself so for protection purposes, it's extended melee

Her forcefields aren't tied to stamina so she can spam it as seen here. In fact she also has ranged attack though it's probably also extended melee based on that particular video

Ye, I think Mettaton takes this, then. Rarity's forcefield doesn't seem impressive at all. With it not being an AoE defense, Mettaton's danmaku would eventually be able to go around her forcefield by the virtue of them being flung in every direction, and the fact that Mettaton can spam mini-him that can throw around bombs doesn't help either.

Don't they have to get shot to be detonated?

I forgot something else. Here's another feat which shows that she can just release a shield and leave it in a certain spot. She can make a multidirectional shield

It's at the 1:20 mark

Hmm... I think we need to get MLP Supporters here.

That video isn't really convincing me of anything, but I'm not really getting many contexts here, so this might just be me. It might help if somebody can argue for Rarity and Mettaton since we would probably just go back and forth without anything progressing.

Look, the other person will come when they want to and if they haven't came, they probably aren't interested so for now, just argue with me

You looked at the mark I put, right?

Hmm. Is that so?

Welp, I gotta ask... Can Rarity keep her shield up while attacking? If so, she has a counter for Mettaton's danmaku. If not, welp, we're back at step one.

Oh, right I actually did forget about that! Although, would it be in character for Rarity to wear her opponents out, plus, it doesn't seem like she would know about Mettaton's stamina problems from the get-go... However, if there is proof Rarity would hunker down and wait for Mettaton to wear himself out, then she has a huge chance of victory, IMO.

Welp, that's Rarity's win-con, then! Turtling! Hehehe, at least Mettaton's weakness is being used as a point against him, and it is ooc for Rarity to win this way... So, Rarity FRA.
