Okay, this thread is basically to see if staff agree with the following template and its name change.

The proposal is to add this header and border to the wiki.
(Actually, they're already created, so it would just be a matter of changing their names to something more general so they can be used in more verses than just the one they were originally created for.)

I don't really understand the technical part and why there's a bunch of brackets and a 1 in both of them, but in theory I don't see why a template for a colored header would be anything but helpful.

It's not useful, but it's to make the character section look better in some verses, for example the Jujutsu Kaisen verse has a heading.
There are verses where the characters are divided into factions, and those factions are represented by a color. This would be useful for those verses.

The technical aspect is from another Fandom page, but I think an example of how to use it could be added to the templates on the same page. I could add that.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but are you asking whether that template should be used as a general one for other verses too? If that’s the case, I don’t think it’s the best move, each verse has its own style, and supporters usually prefer designing their pages that fits their vibe. I do have my own custom Genshin Impact template (Header & Border), which I put together while keeping verse supporters preferences in mind.

No, no. I'm simply suggesting adding it so that fans of certain verses can decide whether or not to include it.

I understand that some verses benefit more from creating their own headers/borders, but it could be useful for more basic verses (without anything special to use as a header or border) or those that haven't yet created a specific header/border.

For example, in the manga "Haikyuu," the characters are divided by high school, and the high schools themselves do not have any particularly distinctive characteristics, but they are divided by color. In that case, it could be helpful.

We allow people to do colored things like this already. I don't care if people use colorful headers. It's not particularly important to our works. It might detract from uniformity, but, I really would rather people be allowed to express creativity when available, and this is one of the few areas that they might. So I'm in favor.

Hmm. Should we turn these into more generalised wiki templates then, and write instruction rules for their usages in conjunction? 🙏

Okay. Would you be willing to write and add a rule text, please, and should it be included within the two templates themselves in order to gain more attention? 🙏

About to head to bed, and rather busy tomorrow. Should be able to do it ~36 hours from now, if no-one else can before then.

I think it should be included in them, similar to some of our other templates that I think do that.

Was this accepted?

Unsure how it works, or if it would change many things.
Just to make the Verses "characters" section look better.

I'm using it in this blog, maybe you'll understand better if you take a look.

Thank you very much for helping out. Feel free to do so then. 🙏

It seems so, yes. 🙏

I'm not too much of a wizard in regards to template creation. I don't know exactly how to do this, but I'm certain that these templates could be set up with configurable colours. Making them a lot more generalisable.

And now that I think about it, this instruction text may need to be changed in line with that, and with the name we ultimately end up giving to it. I'll still attempt to write it, as a placeholder/draft.
This template can be used to add colour to portraits/galleries within verse pages, particularly alongside [[|this sister template]]. The colour of it can be configured by passing in the COLORVAR parameter. See this page for an example [[Haikyu]].

This template should not be used on individual profiles.

I know that it is possible to include instruction or explanation texts in template pages without automatically including them in all pages that use such a template, but do not recall the required code involved from memory. 🙏

You mean this?
<noinclude>
Whatever stuff you don't want to include.
</noinclude>

Yeah, I did think it might be a bit excessive to show full examples of the template's usage, but we could do that anyway.

Well, it can help users who doesn't know how to use template.

If you don't quite understand how to code this template, this sandbox explains it.

Btw, The proposed names were:
"Colorful Gallery Border Template" and "Colorful Header Template"
But change them if you think they would be better another way.

However, shouldn't we change the colour for that template to our standard blue theme first? 🙏

Colour can be changed when using template in pages.
Edit: We can use the blue theme as our standard color on the main template page and add a note below explaining how to change the color when using the template in Verse pages.
If this sounds good, then we can proceed with moving the template page.

I am not sure regarding the colour. Shouldn't we avoid allowing our members to pick colours that clash too much with our overall wiki theme? 🙏

Didn't bambu agreed on this above?

I much prefer uniformity myself in this particular area, to not allow our wiki to gradually turn into a garishly miscoloured incoherent mess. 🙏

Well, preferably not in this area at least. Inserting random garish colours that contrast too greatly with our wiki's overall theme into lots of pages seems like a bad idea. 🙏

We do already have quite a lot of this on verse pages as-is.

Examples:
...as I see it, all this thread does is give another way by which what already is, may be expanded. I don't think it's a negative at all, and in general it is in the interests of those upholding and maintaining these verse pages to make them not-ugly. That is my stance on the subject.
