Chainsaw Man discussion thread

It was an excellent chapter, folks just feel weird about it because it's the penultimate chapter. I am expecting the ending to be some kind of middle finger, we'll see though.
 
Fujimoto is the type of writer that would have no qualms writing a mindfuck/everything went wrong ending as long as it's thematically fitting
 
Ok, so I've been told that the Japanese version of the chapter says that next chapter is the final chapter.

It's officially over... unless there's a part three (which wouldn't really change how I feel about part 2, but whatever).

An easy way is grabbing a image from an imgur post, get the link (in PC would be right clicking the image and copy link of the image) and then in your forum comment press at the square next to the 3 points (on the further right of the blue thing above your comment), copy-paste the link of the image of the imgur post, that way your image could be seen (should be a link of the image of an imgur post as for example copying the link of a image in Google search won't work, other websites besides imgur work but idk them)

In phone is harder, I usually just share the imgur post link cuz the button to add image doesn't react to my touch

(If you are gonna upload an image to imgur to then share, like a manga panel from the new chapter, you could take a screenshot on your phone, crop it if needed then upload it in imgur, in PC is just right clicking)

Sources say the author ███████ has been eaten by the Chainsaw Devil. Shounen Jump is frantically looking for another author to write Chainsaw Man. Twitter accounts are in outrage, describing this as "New Gen AOT".
 
Part 3 is pretty likely. I could be hoping, but knowing his love for movies, I can totally see this being him creating drama with an ending like this. There's this he said about part 2 before so he is treating it like a movie.

Wouldn't want Gege anywhere near another manga's story, he'll just make shit up and everyone will drool over themes and aura.
 
What if in the last chapter Denji is in pain and wasting away from his heart disease as he tries his hardest to cut a tree but no longer has the strength to, then he thinks to himself:
"Hmm, what if there was an automatic tool that runs on gasoline and relies on rapidly spinning sawblades to help me cut this"
Then everything goes black and the words "CHAINSAWMAN WILL RETURN" appear on the screen.

If this is the kind of ending he's going for, then it all depends on the final chapter. If he can wrap it up to make it so that the development still happened, sure, but there's still the chance he fumbles which is what I'm worried about. Gonna be optimistic like I was with Modulo and I decently enjoyed that ending so hoping I at least get that here too.
 
The only good thing about this ending is that I can cope by clowning on the Reze fans who genuinely believed she would be back before Part 2 ended
 
I was distraught earlier, but now I'm on max copium, there is absolutely no way there's not a part 3, and even disregarding that part 2 ends in 2 weeks, this chapter was really good

Ik this is a joke but that heart disease likely won't come back unless the timeline really did reset (which would be weird as that's not how his powers seem to work). Remember that Pochita merging with him fixed his body completely, and yes he is erased now but his erasure powers never erased past events, they only altered the memories of said events on a worldwide scale.
Which is why ear picks still existed while ears existed, and nobody who died was revived when Death got eaten. Not to mention the shit ton of problems that eating the leg devil would cause, if his powers worked like some fans claim they do.
So no, Denji likely won't have his condition back. Pochita fixed that permanently.
 
Although I can see the timeline reset happening only in the case that Pochita's powers don't work when he's trying to erase something that's caused too many major events. Like the events are so big that people's memories of them just can't be altered, so the timeline collapses on itself, so to speak.
The problem with that, however, is that he could erase events like the holocaust from people's minds (bar Makima) just fine. But who knows, Fujimoto can do some crazy shit when he puts his mind to it. The whole ending arc of part 1 was full of crazy reveals and unusually intelligent moves from Denji and Pochita.

That never made sense to me. The entire point was that she was ripped away from Denji and could never be with him again.
It lessens the impact of Makima's actions a little if Reze comes back to help Denji.
If Denji does manage to survive and meet someone who can help him in the upcoming chapter or in part 3 (if it happens, which it very likely will), it'll likely be someone like Asa or Kishibe finding him again.

I did try that, but the image wasn't showing up for me when I posted it.

The ending itself is fine though the next chapter is what really makes or breaks it (assuming there'll be no part 3)
I just wish this was paced better as we should've gotten at least another 5 to 10 chapters before this one. As it stands this came a little soon and I don't particularly care for that.
I will say that, even though this was a very sudden chapter, I honestly cried on it and I've only ever cried from one other manga/anime. It's not even that I didn't expect Pochita to die in some way but I just didn't think it'd be this soon and I didn't expect his final chapter to hit so hard
