Chainsaw Man discussion thread

I don't know if it's just me, but I have been getting fed up with people not even complaining, but outright hating on the story and being generally impatient all over my TL. It's one thing when someone brings constructive criticism, most of which I do agree with. I have seen complaints about Part 2 chapters being too quick of a read, which I also agree with. They feel short lived and it would help if they were extended a bit more. This has been an issue for me since 2023 during the Church arc. Do you all remember the constant biweekly chapters we were getting with incredibly weak nothing burgers? It felt overwhelming. While it is not the same situation currently with Part 2, since we are in pretty hype times with new things to look forward to, I am still on the edge of my seat, uncomfortably so and just need like a page or two more to settle my needs.

However, whenever I open Twitter, aside from the crack theories and people actually discussing the chapter, the ones that keep appearing on my TL are the "Part 2 is mid, Part 1 is better" types. They diss the series with every new chapter, with absolutely nothing good to say about it or the fans. I generally get fed up and go to their profiles to prepare to block them. I do a quick scan of their perceptions, what they post about and so on. Most of the time, not one good word is ever uttered from these accounts, just hate. It is so annoying that I have them on my TL every week and it's honestly upsetting.
I just find it annoying that people on my TL who lack patience are constantly cooking the series, talking about Fujimoto doing nothing when the story is still ongoing and you should have no idea what to expect.
You shouldn't take X seriously; people like that pop up everywhere in today's world. I personally solved my problem by stopping using it. I don't agree with those who are impatient about the series, but I also think the last arc was a bit problematic. But I still eagerly await and read it every week, just like you. Also from what I understand, fans can be divided into a few categories: lobotomized fans, horny fans, geek fans, and romantics. You can categorize some fans accordingly and either talk to them or ignore them, I think.

this other link does let me put it on the blog: https://www.daftlogic.com/projects-...06640625|31.88688652578083,121.90429687500001

but idk if it just sends me to the map im making or other people can actually see the exact map im made before, by clicking the link, do you see a map that within china, goes from russia, to india, then to japan?
It does, but you're better off just making a ss and posting it in the blog

ok, thanks for telling me! i screenshotted the part of the map to put in the blog (and its visible), with also the link next to it so people can check the website it was done and the distance

even then i clarify on what cities of each country it starts and so if its somehow got lost it can be redone, its not a complex map anyway

i have my recalc blog here: https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/U...ells_across_the_world,_Speed_and_KE_AP_recalc

Please section your text in groups and use bullet points for each point so it's more compact and clearer to read.

Considering the movie has been out for a while now, it is not a stretch to say that we are still very disorganized. If we want to be progressive, with even a chance of seeing the speed CRT anytime soon, we need an agenda. We need something that helps us clearly see what feats and calcs from the movie still need to be covered, especially those that will affect scaling.

It is important that I do this now because as next year begins, it will be a very serious time in my life. I will have to spend more time focusing on other things, meaning I will be far less active. This way, even when I am in and out, we still know exactly what needs to be covered.

Like I did when I first came here, I created a chart for feats and thankfully it worked as it helped us get to where we are today through everyone's combined efforts, so I will attempt to do the same thing here with the movie.

Disclaimer: I will likely list every relevant feat I can find, not all of them will be necessary. Some will only serve as supporting feats. Feel free to cherry pick which calculations you would like to attempt or which ones you think need to be attempted. I will also be posting some of these in the calculation requests thread to see how much progress we can make over time.

Feats (Uncalculated):
  • Fiend form Beam dashes fast toward Reze
(This can also be interpreted as a speed feat for Reze, as she completely statues him in slow motion without using explosions. Beam still performs a fast dash here, so this could serve as a base speed feat for him if anything solid comes from it)
  • Galgali's axe kick gets blocked by Reze
(That's one hell of an upgrade. Pretty strong, and would end up scaling to those as strong as or stronger than Reze in lifting strength)
  • Reze's Big Boom
(Exclusive to Reze's AP with her dynamite stick setup)
Wow, thats really it, I thought there would be much more, considering how vibrant the movie was at the time, and the bright flashing colors and eye candy made it seem longer.

Feats (Calculated):
  • Angel throws his spear fast
    (Mach 6.35) (Hypersonic)
Scales to Angel's attack speed with these weapons, I don't think they scale to anyone else.
    (Awaiting Evaluation)
  • Reze Torpedo AP
(512 tons of TNT) Multi City Block level
Scales in AP for Reze's torpedoes and durability for Reze, Denji and transformed Beam.
    (Awaiting Evaluation)
  • Typhoon Devil LS, speed, and AP
(47,807.52 metric tons | 82.52543012 tons of TNT) Class M and City Block level+
Beam and Denji are literally inside the typhoon resisting its force and not getting blown away. Both are shown moving forward and dodging obstacles, so the lifting strength scaling is solid. The AP only scales to his chainsaws which already scale higher, so this mainly serves as a supporting AP feat.
    (Awaiting Evaluation)
  • Reze's torpedo speed
    (Mach 3) Supersonic+
    Supporting feat

    (Accepted)
  • Reze Blitzes Beam
    (Mach 157.687) Massively Hypersonic
Scales to Reze's base speed and anyone who scales to her base speed.
    (Awaiting Evaluation)
  • Reze Blitzes Denji
    (Mach 3,026.86) Massively Hypersonic+
The MHS+ scales to Reze's explosive speed.
    (Awaiting Evaluation)
This is everything we currently have from the movie.
Could someone get this evaluated before 2026
Reminder

Technically all the rezee movie feats are all combat/reaction speed and not travell speed that scales to Gun devil calcs right? doesn't seems like fair chainscaling

The calculated feats need to be accepted by other staff members, on that matter we need specifically them

I don't see that many staff members around the Chainsaw Man discussion thread (on the matter for they being active) besides you gunshy

After rezee movie calcs (most showing upscales), will they only apply to anime only characters and not manga only characters? Like for example quanxi not getting those upscales despite clearly being stronger and faster than rezee?

Yes, most characters do not remotely compare to the Gun Devil's travel speed in the verse. I am also not a staff member, but to answer your question, as long as the movie canonicity thread gets accepted, the feats are canon to both the anime and manga. With Part 2 scaling, Quanxi would already be a blitz tier above Reze.

You are not? I mistaken you for another guy that's from the staff then.

I'll see to make a blog of how to organize the chainscaling of some of the characters if considering all or most as accepted calcs if they are accepted and help later. Based in part of your chainsawman speed sandbox and your comment (and some part 2 profiles sandboxes like the other hybrids that still don't have)

There now essentially has to be direct statements from the author saying the anime takes PRIORITY over the manga(think TYBW) otherwise it’s not canon https://vsbattles.com/threads/staff-only-canonicity-based-on-approval.187028/
Hmm, unless the canonicity blog has statements that matches this new standard (which is kinda strict, as admitted by staff in that thread), anime canon might be cooked. Especially when Fujimoto actively says the anime should deviate from the manga with MAPPA not doing so primarily due to them wanting to keep it faithful

Damn so it might genuinely be over, huh?

“Mere involvement, minor supervision, general praise, or characterizations of the work as a "faithful adaptation" remain insufficient to establish new content as official canon” idk if that’s enough to be above “minor supervision”
Overseeing everything, especially script and storyboarding (which are both narrative points which KT was specific about) is not minor, especially when he is being consulted every step of the way and his editor is also actively in production meetings

Shihei Lin: As far as Chainsaw Man is concerned, yes, I'm currently very busy with this project and actively participate in production team meetings.

The script meeting is over, and Fujimoto-san and I are checking the storyboards and other intermediate stages, but I am excited to see that the anime is perfect and will spread not only in Japan but also around the world.

Keisuke Shihimo: There are opportunities for communication with him at any time, but one thing that made a lasting impression on me was when he said, "My biggest wish is to see good footage. I'll do whatever I can to make that happen. If it's something I need to put my stamp on, I'll do it right here and now." I think he was probably joking, but I thought it was a very Fujimoto-like, honest opinion (laughs). That's why, when deciding on the design and cast of each character, checking the storyboard, visual expression, etc., I always ask for Fujimoto's opinion."

"Minor supervision" yet Fujimoto and his editor were partaking in entire production meetings and constantly reviewing the storyboard. MAPPA has even mentioned that it was hard to keep Fujimoto in the same room as the animators because they were such big fans.

This is not just minor supervision, it is all hands on deck. @CowHeadGod would have to tell you how things are looking for the movie so far though.

I think that the movie would still fall under the anime canonicity, tho we have Fujimoto questioning who wrote Reze's death (he forgor he did that) for some reason
