Chainsaw Man discussion thread

Aside from speed, is there any other stat that needs revisions? I think I read some time ago that lifting strength would also get a CRT, but I'm not sure and I might be remembering it wrong.

Do y'all think Denji could have defeated the Gun Fiend if it possessed someone with no connections to Denji thus making Denji have no problem putting it down and making it not hesitate at the last moment due to Aki still having a tiny part of his brain under his control?

Ok so new topic/question. Pochita is infinitely more intelligent while conversing with denji, speaking full sentences and actually having thought out plans, even showing multiple complex emotions. Is it possible that he’s actually that smart all the times and playing up the chaotic hero of hell persona that everyone knows? I think it would’ve been ******* hilarious if out of nowhere in the makima fight Pochita started absolutely roasting makima about how she doesn’t know who he is at all and how denji will know more about him and be closer than she ever will

Yes he's always this smart and emotional, he just can't speak properly as the black Chainsaw Man. We see this in both Part 1 and 2— in the former he tried to revive Denji's will to live by fulfilling the dreams he told him, like eating a fresh burger, and going on a date with a girl. In the latter, he ate devils whose concepts were meaningful to Denji (Snow, Bitterness) so he could barf them later and make Denji remember them.

He's not playing the role of a chaotic devil, Pochita simply has the ideals of a superhero and insane strength. His dream was to be hugged by someone, but he was too strong, and he'd end up killing everyone around him by accident. The devils that were strong enough to be near him, like War, wanted to kill him. Everyone just projected their own interpretation onto Pochita by running in fear, fighting in anger, or worshipping him.

Makima said these words directly to Pochita, who she didn't realize was merely disguised as Denji: "Chainsaw Man... doesn't spit up phlegm. Chainsaw Man... doesn't wear clothing... and doesn't talk. Every action he takes should be chaotic. And yet... despite not getting him at all... you were chosen by Chainsaw Man... If you're going to get in our way... then die."

The sheer dramatic irony of this scene is a highlight of the manga. Makima berates Pochita, the Chainsaw Man she adores, for doing things that do not fit the Chainsaw Man in her head. The very Chainsaw Man she claims to be a fan of did spit in her face, he was wearing clothing, he did speak, and he is acting with reason. Because Makima doesn't get Chainsaw Man at all. If she did, she could have realized that all Chainsaw Man wanted was exactly what she wanted.

Themes and such aside, I still wanted Pochita to absolutely cook makima with words at the end
 
Have u guys seen the idea that csm devils and pochita are mirroring society's racial issues? I thought the fact the person points out Pochita being black and how the intestines resemble chains is a cool touch on Pochita.

Nah, that's too on the nose. I think the ending to her arc was as beautiful as it was because Pochita and Denji never brag to her about how they've won. They don't rant about how she's wrong and they're right. They let her come to her own conclusion on it.
She worshipped Pochita blindly while ignoring the man who acts very similar to Pochita in multiple ways, and that led to her downfall by that very same man.

Could Makima claiming Pochita doesn't talk and act rational, but instead is violent and never thinks most of the time also be evidence for this? As that's verbatim what racists say about black people.

I think that works but I also think it works deeper if you factor in Makima's obsession with him. Black culture is generally looked down upon (feared) by other cultures/races (devils) BUT when the music comes on suddenly everyone wants a piece. We see this happen when Death devil wants to use Pochita, Makima wants to use Pochita, Aging devil wanted to use Pochita, I think a couple others too but can't remember, there's also the public safety/gov using him.
 
By the way, I think if Denji stopped jerking off and thinking about women, we could witness his true intelligence, He might think he's stupid
 
We see that he's pretty smart multiple times in the series, that's how he came up with his plan to defeat Makima after distracting her with a fake Denji. Among other examples.
