Story
In a forest Bowser's minions are trying to take over they came across a problem. Allegedly the problem takes the form of giant green lobster like creatures with paralyzing tentacles on their face that can mess with the mind. In truth this is only a symptom of the real problem. Only the Chuul servants of an Aboleth that resides in a lake within the forest. A group of eight brothers intend to deal with the beast a pair of Hammer Bros, Boomerang Bros, Fire Bros, and Ice Bros. The Aboleth has a spy that has informed it of the brothers. As the Aboleth needs the Chuul or at least some minions to get it food and it intends to try to secure the Chuul or Enslave the brothers.

Rules: The Aboleth has one night to prepare for the encounter.
The brothers are unaware of the Aboleth, but are aware of possible mental attack and the Chuul's ability to paralyze and that there are three total. The Aboleth has been able to figure out the brothers primarily method of fighting. (How they attack in mainline mario games)

Aboleth wins if it kills all the brothers, mind controls at least one brother and either avoids the others learning about it or kills all other brothers threatening it.

The brothers win if they kill the Aboleth or kill the three Chuul without the Aboleth getting any of them as slaves after the fight unless they all die.

Aboleth and Chuul first key 8-C

Start 100 meter away from each other with no line of sight.

Speed equalized.

The Hammer Bros, Boomerang Bros, Fire Bros, and Ice Bros (They share a profile): 0

Vs

Aboleth and Chuul: 1

The Abeolth has a massive intelligence advantage (Genius/Extraordinary Genius to Above Average) on top of it having a day of prep and the battle taking place near its home terrain. It also has the range advantage by a wide margin (I wouldn't know what part of its abilities the kilometer range have though, afaik its mind manip has a only a slightly farther range compared to the Bro's projectiles and its spells could be up to hundreds of meters). I'd think the Abeolth could easily handle the Bros if they get close to or try to confront it directly with its spell capabilities + mind manip.

The Chull on the other hand I think could be handled by the Bros given range advantage and there being 4 of them though, although the Chuul has the AP advantage (Building+ to Building) so it wouldn't be easy for them. The rules of this fight state that even if the Chuul is just defeated then the Bros still win the fight, so technically if the Bros defeat the Chull without the Abeolth being involved it'd still count as a win for them. I don't think that's likely though given the Abeolth would most likely be aware of its minions health, as Abeolths have telepathic communication with all of their slaves, and it would have the incentive to keep its minion alive for its survival. That, plus it being their home terrain, a day of prep, and the Bros being unaware of it, and I don't think the Bros could do that unless they trapped or cornered the Chuul without the Abeolth's knoweldge (which would be unlikely).

Overall voting for the Abeolth-Chuul due to prep/home terrian advantage, high intelligence advantage, and the Abeolth having more versatile abilities + hax.

Yeah I was using that source, just didn't read it fully. It's abilities that span a kilometer I don't think would have a direct effect, although it being able to have an illusory duplicate would help the Aboleth gather further intel. Its lair actions are much shorter in range, although still up 90 feet in range which is better then the Bro's projectiles (at least what's shown on the Bro's page), and that would solidify its ability to handle the Bros if they got into a direct fight with it. Will also note that I have the source for the Aboleth's spells (Monster Manual 3.5e), which are something the Aboleth doesn't need any components for and can cast at will. mostly illusionary spells that have decent range.

I still maintain my vote for Aboleth + Chuul with the additional info though. They still have intelligence/home terrain advantage plus prep, just makes it not as lopsided in there favor.

Also just realized I was misspelling D&D Aboleth lol. Hope that didn't confuse anyone.

I did four bros to ensure that the mind control wouldn't be an instant win since it is limited to three per day. That said being able to convert a 2 v 4 to a 5 v 1 seems to be a bit much still. Do you think it would be reasonable to add two extra Chuul and double the brothers.

That is a good point about the limit on the mind control (I was kinda confused by what you meant the Abeolth since wins if it enslaves one of the bros since the aboleth's mind control ability is called "Enslave"). 8 brothers against 3 Chuls + Aboleth could even it out sure, and two brothers per opponent. I'll still vote for the Abeloth + Chuul side due to my stated reasons plus the Chuul's AP advantage, but it would make things a bit more even yeah.
