Ares stomps easily. Assuming Aquaman scales to Wonder Woman because he fought a losng battle alongside with her is dumb to begin with so i'm not sure why the wiki even did that. Might as well scale Batfleck with her too...

He did hold his own against Stephenwolf by himself when they fought in atlantis.
Not really. He caught him off-guard and didn't even damage him, Steppenwolf turned the tides on him immediatley despite being in his territory and having the pressure from being that deep underwater slow him down.

He did better on land with his armor and trident though, and he did pierce him with the latter.

Ares probably wins though, at least when he was uninjured.

He still wouldn't scale to him directly since Steppenwolf was just treating them like nuisances rather than opponents. The trident feat is impressive but it is a high class magical weapon that wouldn't scale to Aquaman's physical strength directly (like Wonder Woman's sword or Thor's hammer). Not trying to be difficult or anything I always thought it was kind of an issue scaling Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Steppenwolf and everyone else to Superman and Doomsday when it's been established how high up on the food chain they were by comparison since Superman made short work of Diana and practically humiliated Steppenwolf.

Plus factoring specefic abilities Ares has that Black Manta wouldn't be ready for (metal and poison manipulation specefically would be bad plus his teleportation and other abilities)

Aquaman scales due his ability to keep up with Steppenwolf since he was durable enough to take his attacks, fast enough to keep up with him, and the only one to make him bleed (yeah, it's a magic weapon, but so are Wonder Woman's sword and Mjolnir, and I remember one justification for Aquaman's tier was Zack Snyder calling some radio station who were roasting Aquaman, and he said Arthur was specifically strong enough to pierce Superman with his trident). The same could also be applied to Wonder Woman against Doomsday.

Generally people here think Superman became massively more powerful when he was resurrected with the Mother Box's energy, which is why he easily beat Steppenwolf and Diana, who was doing better against Doomsday then himself.

And yeah, Ares has a much better variety of abilities, he takes this easily. Maybe in Aquaman's sequel he could get some amps to keep up with our boy King Arthur and make a better match against Ares, but not now.

A character doesn't scale to someone much stronger than them simply because they survived getting swat away. Keeping up with Steppenwolf is a hyperbole on your part since he was getting overwhelmed easily. A character doesn't get scaling from a magical weapon they use because simply put the weapon is more powerful than they are (like Mjolnir, Thor's physical strength is nothing compared to his striking strength with Mjolnir which is what makes it so useful to him). Wonder Woman's sword in teh comics can bypass conventional durability, same with Corvius Glaive's spear or Wolverine's adamantium claws etc.

That is pretty baseless seeing as how most of Wonder Woman's fight with Doomsday was off-screen and most of the shots she landed were due to her weapons and fighting skill as oppose to Superman who is a brawler.

Aquaman and Wonder Woman both were having extensive fights with Steppenwolf without dying, and he had no reason to hold back. We don't really know if their weapons bypass durability in the films, though it's true Mjolnir does amp Thor.

Like, they're both unambiguously super fast characters, and she was getting hit multiple times by heat blasts and punches and able to walk it off, and she was strong enough to restrain him for a few seconds even before the kryptonite gas, and, you know, chop his arm off, they were pretty much in the same league. There's basically no reason not to scale them per wiki rules on powerscaling, same with Aquaman and Steppenwolf.

I love Manta but Ares takes this. The guy has a large edge in sheer experience over Manta and this isn't even touching the versatility Ares is bringing to this fight
