I mean... he gets shoved aside for the next arc in order to display the power of Rimuru's newer subordinates, and the next arc he quite literally becomes just a soul in base, and his sword broke after this key.

One, in a situation where he could've died despite it being against the rules, because Diablo lol. Again, he only used it as an extreme last resort. Considering Stella is stronger than diablo (AP wise, Diablo haxstomps), he won't have any hesitation using either of these.

Naturally, it wouldn't be his opening move. Only Hellflame spam.
He would know, also. Everyone relevant in Tenslime can sense strength via aura, and later they get Info Analysis so.
