Base assumption for crystal

I wanted to do a simple calc about a character that melts a crystal block, but the problem is that the book does not tell what specific crystal they are talking about.

Is it fair to assume quartz, or is the calc utterly impossible?

I mean, if there really isn't any mention of what crystal it used or what color it is, I think it's best to just assume it's Quartz, considering they are the most common crystals.

Though, you can always just ask a calc member if you are unsure, and see if there is any standards for this type of feat.
