Afterimage creation question

A character who hits so fast that he creates afterimages, what speed would that give him?
I know it's subsonic minimum but how much in m/s exactly?

I also recall studies saying 200 miles per hour but I have never really been able to retrieve any sort of journals and when searching it, I mostly just find here say answers on Quora and stuff like that.
