What exactly does Alus do in-character, and how can he counteract the Fear Manipulation of Nura?

Alus does have Resistance to Mind Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement (Via magic[16]) but I'm not exactly sure if this will work or not. If it doesn't I'll just adjust the distance so that Alus starts outside of Rikuo's range. Also Alus' first move is usually attacking with his weapon.

It most likely wouldn't since Nura's Fear Manipulation isn't through manipulating the mind or paralyzing one's movements. It's through inducing a specific notion of "Fear" onto the target, and with the amount of layers Nura has with this, I doubt Alus can resist it.
Even if you do adjust the distance, I'm not entirely sure that would matter as Nura and Alus would just eventually close the distance, and when this does occur, it will cause Alus to be affected by the Fear Manipulation as previously. It would just prolong an already probable conclusion in my opinion.

I was thinking that Alus would be able to fight back as long he can move in Rikuo's presence, but if you say it's not enough then I guess it can't be helped then. Oh well back to the drawing board then.
