Final round of our initial matches! :D I'll update the Recruitment thread with a recap.

Again, since I had to disqualify some of my warriors, we'll have to make due with some of my own suggestions.

Eighth Round of the 9-B Brackets begins! Our contestants for this round are Ken Kaneki, and Wayne. Click here to see current standings.

DISCLAIMER: I had to disregard Ken's match with John for the brackets because I used 9-A versions for em.

Let's hope Ken's second matchup isn't as much as a disaster. This is TK Ken without Kagune, and speed is equalized. Wayne has enough health stored in his metalminds for Low-Mid healing.

Ken - 6 (Overlord, Spino, Chartate, Monarch, Velox, Mand)

Wayne - 0

Incon -

Ken
Wayne

Doth Wayne have a calc, or is he baseline?
wayne is "can break through stone walls" level, so they have similar AP

i vote for Ken, because his regen is better as it doesn't rely on external item and it's made more usefull by it's high resistence to pain, which would allow him to fight normaly even if heavely injured and every time he gets injured he becomes a bit stronger

he has the skill advantage and Wayne's time manipulation isn't very usefull in a 1v1 battle

Pretty much agreed.

They likely have a very similar AP, as Wayne is "a lot weaker but still sort of comparable" to people who can break through stone walls in an undefined manner of destruction, while Kaneki is "stronger, but to an unknown degree than a guy who can violently fragment a chunk of a wall by punching it"

Wayne's Regenerationn is a bit worse than Kaneki's, as it is dependent on Wayne consciously choosing to draw more "health" from his metal minds. While they do still both have Low-Mid healing then (Kaneki's Mid healing is not combat applicable), the difference is that Wayne needs to consciously choose to draw on that much health, and at that fast a rate, while Kaneki will just heal regardless of his mental state. Additionally, Wayne's Regenerationn is more limited than Kaneki's, as he will eventually run out of health to draw on while Kaneki will just keep healing.

Kaneki also probably edges out on skill and experience, as though I'm pretty sure Wayne has more experience due to his age chronologically speaking, Kaneki has defeated people with more experience than him before. Additionally, Kaneki's fighting style involves reading the opponent the predict and counter their attacks, and he can even dodge attacks through instinct when he is blinded.

Time manipulation, while it does have its uses, is not going to allow Wayne to blitz Kaneki, as it involves speeding up time within a bubble indiscriminately - that is, Wayne cannot choose to speed up only himself. If he activates the time bubble and Kaneki isn't in it, Wayne can't reach him to attack him (and if he used a ranged weapon like a gun, which he doesn't in character, the time bubble would throw the projectiles off course the moment they leave the bubble). If he activates the bubble while Kaneki is within it, Kaneki is also sped up and the fight doesn't change. Wayne's uses for the bubble are A) dash around the battlefield by speeding up time in an area around him and getting from one side of the bubble to another before deactivating it and B) give himself the time he needs to heal. However, if Kaneki remains close to him throughout the fight, which he will do as he does not have his Kagune, both of those applications are useless.

However, I must point out that Kaneki's reactive power level is an extremely tame version of the ability. He will not be getting any incredible Zenkai boosts, and no one in TG has ever won a fight simply by regenerating from the damage they took and getting stronger from it.

Anyway, in case I need to make it clear, I'm voting Kaneki

Ken - 5 (Overlord, Spino, Chartate, Monarch, Velox)

Wayne - 0

Ken - 6 (Overlord, Spino, Chartate, Monarch, Velox, Mand)

Wayne - 0

That's unanimous, I'll add the results and have a recap post on the recruitment thread.

When I do the next Brackets, I think I'm going to use a number of lessons from this one before I finalize the combatants.

Although, after this begins the powerless version, where Speedwagon will fight a T. Rex.
