An information message from our forum system manager:

"Hey everyone,

We've rolled out an update that should make moving around the forum feel snappier and smoother.

What's different?

When you click a link now - a forum, a thread, a profile, What's new, and so on - you usually won't get a full page reload like before. The main content updates in place, while the rest of the page stays put. That means less waiting, less flickering, and a feel closer to a modern app than an old-style website.

Why it feels faster

Previously, every click often meant rebuilding the whole page from scratch. Now the site only refreshes the parts that actually change. Less work for your browser and your connection usually means pages appear sooner - especially on slower devices or mobile data.

What you'll notice

- Quicker jumps between sections of the forum
- Smoother scrolling and less "white flash" between pages
- The site feeling more continuous as you browse

You don't need to change anything or install anything. Just keep using the forum as usual.

If something looks off after a click (a page that doesn't update, a layout that seems wrong, or anything else odd), reply here with the page you were on and what you clicked. We'll look into it.

Thanks for being part of the community - hope you enjoy the faster experience."

So fast it feels weird :d

Everything seems nice, Thanks for the upgrade.🙏

(Though now clicking a profile etc fully sends you there, so you need to wait that five second which is a pain 😭)

I will be honest, it feels much slower and has lots of bugs. These are the ones I have encountered so far (Updating when finding new issues...)

Bugs
*Having issues pasting anything, and need to refresh the site multiple times every time the address is changed...
*Having issues scrolling up or down on the home screen for the forum
*Notifications are broken
*Post address links don't take you to the post itself, but only to the top of the correct page, sometimes not even that... (works sometimes though, but when it does it is with a delay...)
*clicking on a user's profile sometimes does nothing, sometimes takes you to their posts, sometimes goes to their message wall
*Replying to specific parts of a message doesn't always work, as the "reply" button doesn't always appear and often requires a page refresh
*Viewing your own profile shows wrong information, including the wrong thread/section of the wiki, wrong time, sometimes even in the "future".

Performance issues
*The 2 featured contents are far too big
*It's far slower, takes 2-3 seconds to load each time I click on anything, with it freezing sometimes... (before it was more or less instant...)
*Takes 1.2Gb of memory just to have the page open on the forum...

So yeah, I guess that more or less says what I think about this update...

I think this is mostly happening on computers or tabs? Cuz my side is totally fine on phone rn.

Thank you everyone for reporting the issues and sharing your feedback. I really appreciate your patience and help during this rollout.

Since this is a new feature, we are currently testing it in the real production environment with real user activity and data. This helps us identify edge cases that are difficult to catch during development and testing.

Please allow me some time to review and fix the reported issues. I will be working through them and making improvements as quickly as possible. Everything will be addressed and polished step by step.

Thanks again for helping make the feature better.

For notice, the site is currently using 1.2 GB of memory just for the forum home page.... Do i even need to say why this is barely usable for me....

I will continue to report problems if I find more of them.

I don't know if this is a bug or just a new feature, but previously on mobile web, when you clicked a name or a tag of a user, it showed a "summary" of that user (amount of replies, reactions, date of joining and last seen when/where)

But now it immediately takes you to their profile
In my humble opinion, I'd prefer to stay like that.

For me it is inconvenient due to the need to often check on a large number of people
Oh, it appear again. It wasn't there before.

Fixed.

I also noticed that the featured content page does not work currently, and that the main page title for this thread has turned "What's" to "Whats". 🙏

I'm not sure if it's connected to this and whether anyone else has this or is it a problem on my side, but..

I'm kinda 31 or so minutes in the future. Recent threads and messages show to me as "In x minutes"

Small question:

Anyone else having a whole lot more cloudflare verificafions recently?

I haven't noticed any speed differences. But I did notice a couple bugs:
  • when clicking on profile posts from alerts, it doesn't automatically read the alert, you need to either go to your profile or hit Mark read for it to go away
  • Several instances this morning on tablet where I tapped on the alert multiple times and had to refresh the page to get it to actually go to said alert/post

My issues are
  1. When I clicked the alerts from the thread that I'm watching, it doesn't take me to the reply comments immediately. I had to go to either What's New or my Profile first before I can get to the reply.
  2. The gap wrote comment to the thread is somehow more further than before. Idk if it's just me.

If this doesn't run smooth on my phone, I will find all of you. Yes, every single one of you. Because even though I could get a better phone I see fit to take my anger and my anguish and my guilt and my annoyances out on every single person in sight with no remorse and f#ck every single one of you. Remember to wear deoderant :D

We had to add them as safeguards for countries from which a lot of bot-information scraping for A.I. development take place, as our forum cannot function properly otherwise. 🙏
