Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

Wait I didn't need one?
I don't believe so, you can just provide your justification on the wiki itself with stuff like that. Neither is changing a picture or adding scans.

AFAIK you only need CRT when changing the powerscaling stats the wiki cares about.

Overhauling how a profile looks entirely might require a CRT though even with no stats changed.

I really want to see some Tier 7 - Tier 3 characters to have some hyperrealistic showcases of their power through casual feats. By that I mean stuff like: lack of outliers and anti-feats, some insane Destructive Capacity of EVERY action/move they make that makes any tier lower than their seem insignificant (considering that nearly every single tier on VSBW have some insane gaps), extremely destructive fights whenever they actually happening, some consequences after that and etc. Closest thing I've seen is OPM, but still Saitama is quite capable of controlling his power and somewhat reduce destructive range of his attacks (I lowkey want to see character who literally disintegrates City-blocks - Galaxies by walking or breathing and whatnot, since they scale higher than that stuff they casually destroy). It's really hard to keep tiers beyond Tier 8 visually consistent, to the point I have to use "AP≠DC" argument over and over again

Sorry this one is really long. Feel free to delete it if it breaks the rules.

There's a ton of stupid drama videos and they keep showing up on my feed, like
  • "Everything on YouTube is bad and slop and dystopian now!"
Dude, just personalize your own feed ;__; I did, and I don't see slop (well, except the drama channels). Do people forget that the "Do not recommend channel" button exists?
  • "Media literacy is dead now!"
It's annoying when people misunderstand obvious things, but that's always happened, even before social media. You just see it more. Most people have media literacy. But someone disagreeing with you doesn't mean they don't have media literacy. Those videos also made me feel bad for having a hard time understanding abstract, philosophical, and academic texts until I found out I was neurodivergent. They can cause real harm.
  • "Gen Alpha is ruined!"
They take like a few videos of kids misbehaving or having learning difficulties and think it applies to all kids in generation. They even blame the parents who are just trying to do the best they can (you never know what their parents are going through). Most kids can read and write just fine, do good in school, and have a balance with technology and playing with toys/outside. And some kids are neurodivergent, have learning difficulties and/or just have natural delays like speech delays, that's nothing new.
  • "Everyone is too sensitive/offended these days!"
And it's just someone criticizing or calling out the harm in something. Or even just a preference. Like I saw this video that was like "Japan is under attack!" or whatever complaining about this "offended" person, and it was just a super post someone saying they don't watch anime. And this dude made like 30 videos (10-20 minutes long each) on random tweets of people disliking this anime character, or calling people White Westerners for disagreeing with him (he's a White Westerner).
  • "Overconsumption is everywhere"
These videos are pure slop. At least half the time it's not even overconsumption, they're just mad that someone bought a product for themselves that they don't like. There's a difference between buying a product because you genuinely want/need it, you use it when you need to, and you throw it out when it can't be used anymore, and buying a product for a superficial reason, barely using it/using more than you need, and throwing it out when you get bored with it even if it can still be used. Like, people complain about Stanley overconsumption but buy tons of fictional character plushies they never even play with. At least the former actually use their water bottles. Why is it suddenly "collecting" and above criticism when it's a product that they personally like? I feel like it's just pretentiousness and "not like the other girls" type behavior. They also throw around the world "hoarder" a lot. Hoarding is a real mental illness where they refuse to/get panic attacks from throw anything out (even trash) to the point where their house is unlivable and it affects their health. It's also common with (and sometimes caused by) PTSD, anxiety and depression. And they don't even call out the billionaire men who hoard their wealth and even support some capitalist systems, they just want an excuse to judge women for being "too basic" and having shopping addictions. They never learn why women are so pressured to keep buying things and instead blame women for capitalism. How progressive of them... 🙃🙃🙃🙃

I'm always weirded out by people who say Instagram reels is hell. Y'all just make your algorithm hell. I opened my reels just now and my reels have been in order Cat > Dogs > Cats > Bat > Dog on Horse.
I've made Instagram algorithm show me only cute animals with the occasional musical prodigy and comedic skit. Where are you all getting tung tung tung sacock from?

Lowkey sounds like "if you're homeless just buy a house". YouTube indeed became much less authentic, since it now can so easily flag your videos for random bs, algorithm literally forces content creators to be more "tame" and say words like "unalive" or avoid heavy topics alltogether, on top of that you can't really post your videos rarely, otherwise you'll be abandoned by said algorithm. Oh, and also don't forget the AI slop, that is quite hard to avoid, since it became nearly omnipresent

However I want to point out that calling everything "slop" is just not it. Most of "Everything on YouTube is bad and slop and dystopian now!" videos are just vague complaints and some form of media elitism. Nothing is good for them nowadays... Like, cmon, stop attacking me over liking something that is "popular" or "effortless", especially when NOTHING in this world is perfect yk. I don't want to blame youtubers for becoming less authentic, IMO it's mostly YouTube's fault with it's stupid AI moderation and algorithm

Absolutely agree with you on this. I just despise these people so much, who attack everyone over "media literacy". That's ******* discrimination and harassment over nothing, there's nothing good about hating someone for being "media illiterate", you won't die because I didn't understand one or two things about something. And it's also really fits into the same problem I described in my take on Hatred of stupidity

It's also quite hilarious for me that Gen Z used to be a scapegoat before Gen alpha was born, they haven't learnt a jack from their experience. Like, you're literally were constantly victim blamed, flaw nitpicked, overhated, abused, hated and forced to live through "diet social darwinism", and now you do the same thing to a younger generation... What an atrocity

I don't see anything that could break the rules

Never really like Ig to begin with. But currently I'm way too aware of it's comment section to get into Reels in any way, shape or form

Why I need reels for that, if I have YouTube and Tiktok and that they also don't have so many ****** up edgelords and genuine bigots? Honestly can't imagine myself enjoying something without reading comments during/afterwards, it really enhances the experience for me

I look inside comments and there are no bigots. I genuienly don't know what sort of tarpit y'all are floating about in.

At this point I'm not sure if any platform is free of them but yeah it still depends on both the platform userbase and which parts of said platforms we frequent more often than not.

Competitive video games that are trying to say a serious story at the same time should just completely give up on trying to kill their characters. At best, the character will only be missing in action and will conveniently pop back up when the character(s) who "killed" them are about to achieve their goals, making their so-called death pointless. At worst, the character will be replaced by a successor/doppelganger in the next title, who play and look near identical to the said dead character, and the only difference being their name and personality, just for the next title after that to replace them with the original character who was now somehow magically revived.
Honestly prefer sandbox games overall at this rate.

I woudnt call one of the biggest web novel genres "underrated"
Biggest web novel genre is not Xianxia nowadays, it was eclipsed by the hodepodge power progression genre or can be called Xuanhuan I guess. More prominent in the west and even in China currently

Japan and Korea with their manga and manhwa (sorta deriving from China's manhua) also have been following that similar theme/trend (as in the power accumulation and progression) too yeah.

Just hope nothing like this happens again.

Yeah, that's a good point. It's a lot easier to do that on the website for computers or laptops than it is for mobile apps and websites. And I get wanting to use euphemisms, cuz words like murder and r*pe are used so much they lose their impact, but they force euphemisms for the wrong reasons (to be friendly with advertisers) and those euphemisms should be respectful. For example, if they want to say "Bob killed Steve" they should say "Bob took Steve's life" instead of "Bob unalived Steve".

Exactly. Like they think they're better than everyone for being niche and act like all popular things are bad. I used to act like that too when I was in middle school but thankfully I outgrew that phase. 😭

Yessssss. And even if they weren't neurodivergent there's still like reading problems, language barriers, lack of access to education, even just regular misunderstanding. Lacking media literacy is when you get the wrong idea on purpose, not by accident or genuine lack of understanding.

Every generation's done this for like thousands of years. Every generation says the ones after it are the worst/laziest/stupidest/most disrespectful/most evil/most insane. And pretty soon Gen Alpha will be doing the same to the next one. I thought my generation was gonna break the cycle but SOME Gen Z YouTubers will do anything for views.
I have nothing more to say, than just agree with nearly everything you said here. Also it heavily reeks of mysoginy if you ask me
And almost all those overconsumption videos only focus on women and girls, who have more pressure to buy things due to more beauty standards and peer pressure. Meanwhile men do just as much overconsumption and almost nobody calls it out. It also relates to my second point cuz it reeks of elitism too. And every single generation had products they'd overconsume, but somehow it's not overconsumption because it's niche or retro ;__; Like how many people collect tons of Pokemon cards, dolls, and plushies just to put them on a shelf or in a binder and not even play with them at all? Even if you're selective about it and thrift it or whatever, it's still overconsumption because you're not even playing with them (what they were made for).

Yk, for as shitty as the universe can be, I’m still kinda glad that I exist in it, cause at least I can do something to make it better

It's almost ironic considering there's supposed to be the Flynn IQ effect, the increasing rate of knowledge breakthroughs + the accumulated knowledge each successive generation gains, etc etc.
Kinda sucks to know quite a few of said successive generations still have to deal with problems that plagued past generations (and that should have ended long ago if not for intergenerational trauma, resentment, etc) AND new problems that are arising in the present at the same time though.

YES EXACTLY
A lot of "Gen Alpha is doomed" videos or whatever are just overreacting about stuff that kids always did in every generation and treat it like it's a life-ruining abnormality that only happened recently.
Like I saw this post saying that Gen Alpha was stupid and doomed because a lot of them want to be YouTubers or influencers when they grow up. There's nothing wrong with that, kids always gravitate towards "fun" careers like YouTuber or pop star or influencer and as they grow up most of them start to want "real" careers like doctor or astronaut or artist. Every generation has kids who say that kinda stuff. Bruh there was one point as a kid where I wanted to be a Pokemon trainer when I grew up, and a ton of Gen Z kids wanted to be gaming YouTubers.
And kids have always misbehaved in class, there have always been teachers who were fed up with "the current generation", there were always kids with learning difficulties (which blaming it on iPads is stupid, it's not that learning difficulties are increasing because of iPads, they're increasing because of more awareness, parents are being more alert to learning difficulties, mild/moderate learning difficulties being taken seriously instead of ignored until they get more severe, etc.). But because of social media they're just seeing it more often.

I hate how high level scientific and philosophical concepts have been adopted by powerscalers to the point that they became synonyms with it.
Ever since I was a kid I was obsessed with crazy powers and insane showments of strength, then powerscaling introduced the concept of dimensions to me and I also became in love with it. After that I started to love my philosophy class and started to adore philosophical concepts.

I love them so much that I even use those in the stories I make, higher dimensions and platonism even are stables at this point. But God, am i scared that people might read them and confuse it with powerscaling made stories.
worse of it all, i'm a Undertale AU fan and i'm even writing my own. The problem is that the  only AUs to use the concept of higher dimensions and philosophical concepts are those made for powerscaling
