Devil May Cry Anime show Discussion Thread

Would be a massive improvement. Tokyo Ghoul was a garbage anime. On top of that, with the exception of the last two Berserk movies and certain parts of the 90s Berserk show, a lot of them have been garbage too. Latest adaptation was practically unwatchable. I don't know anyone from Japan or outside of Japan who liked it.
I agree with every word you've said. Not only were the adaptations of both manga terrible, but the works themselves had serious problems towards the end. I would have cut 50% of the background characters in TG:Re, changed the fates of many characters, and even the ending itself. We have a fan theory that Re's ending is Kaneki's dream while in a coma, and that seems much more logical than what we saw in the final chapter, the resolution to the conflict we received, and the happy ending, which only affected Tokyo, leaving the rest of the world unchanged.

In Berserk, I would also have changed the tone and pacing of the final arcs, because watching Schierke cry over a dream in which Isidro turned into a macaque and stole her honey is a disgrace for a dark fantasy series with such a cult following.
There is absolutely nothing interesting about the despair unbound/argosax in DMC2. He's a faceless, voiceless blob that shows up in the very last chapter of the game to be dunked on in 30 minutes. This type of characterization isn't interesting, it is the most basic characterization conceivable. It barely got a face and a name, then a throwaway sentence sometime later in other media.
Argosax in the game is simply an angel model with a fire texture applied to it. And he certainly doesn't emanate the same threat as Argosax in the TV series.
Mundus at no point in the actual games ever says such a thing as "I don't believe anyone should be a person". He beat Vergil up, mind controlled him, and even needed the amulet to make it stick. He's the one who created the angelo army after all. If his motives were truly so incompatible with human villainous motives, you wouldn't spend time describing a lot of human methods like you did. Seriously. Getting revenge on the sons of someone who "vanquished" you years ago happens in our world all the time. Same for Tyrants, scheming, and manipulation. Mundus is just a very simple character that was kept in the background of DMC1 a lot. Everything I typed here is practically replicated in the show btw.

He is an evil boss, it's ok. I don't think anyone that actually worked on DMC1 described him as anything more when reading their actual interviews in those Capcom books released a decade ago.
But in the series, demons are humanized, so Mundus's rule feels more personal and profound. Besides, it doesn't seem like he was planning to discard Vergil as expendable after all his plans and actually wanted to make him his right-hand man.

From what I remember @Lightning_XXI is gonna do a lot of revisions for the verse along with calcs and stuff

Finally S1 LT. Arkham will stomp Dennis as it should be
Oh, btw

I started writing my stuff about the series but honestly I don't have the strength to keep going, I would need to rewatch the series at least one more time before making all the scaling or re-scaling, and it will be better if done by people who cares about the series instead of me

Surely you understand how much of a torture it would've been

Just wondering where did you even get that information??

Also agree to disagree, I really felt nothing for this Argosax. If anything I felt threatened by how weak dante and vergil in netflix were. I swear I was thinking someone was jump them and beat them at a moment's notice.

OH HELL NAH HE ALREADY ****** UP DMC AND NOW YOU WANT HIM TO **** TOKYO GHOUL TOO?!

Pierrott did this long before Shankar. I am absolutely convinced that half of Re needs to be rewritten
what? no, RE is fine despite the rushed ending it was pretty good

Also, are we ******* serious? saying Shitkar would do a better job? my guy he would probably do Kaneki even dirtier than Ishida did him and it wouldn't be because of any theme or relevant plot point, it will be just because he can

In Re, we have an insane number of plotlines that lead nowhere. The absolutely infuriating and idiotic Mutsuki. Tsukiyama, who hunted and sold children, mutilated women, and his family trafficked children for years. Shit, Tsukiyama became the ghouls' leading spokesman. He's ******* Epstein.
Ui led an army of child soldiers to the slaughter, and he was made into one of the greatest heroes.
The entire human-ghoul conflict was resolved with magical synthetic meat. The CCG was disbanded in Tokyo, but mind you, not worldwide or even in all of Japan. So, ghouls are still being hunted. The conflict was resolved strictly within the confines of one city. Incidentally, Ayato, who was suffering from ROS symptoms from exposure to spores even while wearing a gas mask, somehow saved Kaneki, who was immune to ROS, from drowning in Dragon Venom. The Vs, who were the power brokers who controlled the world order and were feared by ghouls like Yoshimura, ultimately transformed from the guys Kaneki called "Arima and Squad Zero" into the ones defeated by the White Suits.
And that's not to mention the piles of filler and the pacing issues, where Arima and Kaneki's fight is interrupted by Ui and Misa fighting.

At least its ending. Oh dear if they randomly announce a 4th season before the 3rd season even comes out like with this one I will laugh

Probably for the best, it makes the show more cohesive in this way. If you tried to play it off straight by having a ~20 year time skip out of nowhere that would be strange. On top of that, you can just complete the Dante, Vergil, Lady story now without stretching it because after this, Dante and Lady will barely do anything in the plot.

I'm going to express an opinion that I'll probably get scolded for, but I like that they gave Dante and Lady a romantic line.

Can someone explain why SDT in part 5 is presented as some kind of discovery, when in part 2 we had Majin?
"Majin" doesn't exist outside of gameplay. It's just a cool look in gameplay that most of the people who worked on DMC after 2 likely don't know nor care about. It has no bearing on the actual narrative in DMC2. By DMC5, they wanted to give Dante an actual form to show him getting more powerful so they introduced SDT.

Really though, I don't like the logic of Dante has had Rebellion for almost 50 years and Force Edge/Sparda for almost 20 and never felt nor thought at all about absorbing them/getting their power even after he used Sparda in the very first game to get a power up already.

It's the trying hard of fan service and call backs to things that shouldn't be too important by this point but they now need to be. At least it's done now.

Too bad. That Dante uniform looked fuking awesome.

This isn't the thread for that given this is the extremely stupid show... nor is the guy above really knowledgeable on the series.

But since I'm here... to make it short Majin form is just his demonic blood going overdrive in order to save Dante from extreme situations. It's the ultimate expression of his demonic power AND it has been a thing ever since the DMC3 Manga.

SDT is both of the twins truest form. Vergil had to figure out his humanity and accept it to get SDT while Dante had to (apparently) fully embrace his demonic nature and have Rebellion fully fuse human and demon in order to unleash it.

Majin and SDT have fairly similar designs, and it seems like both forms are the pinnacle of their power. Are they related?

And since you're here, I wanted to clarify: why was Dante in a coma after his first fight with Urizen? Death Battle said it was because his stamina ran out and he almost died.

They have "similar" appearances but you can clearly see the differences.

Majin or Ultimate form is just his demonic side.

Sin or Shin DT is his demonic and human sides.

Obviously they are related, its Dante after all.

P L O T

But seriously, Urizen was just stronger, Dante broke the shield and the backlash was enough to put him into a coma.
