I think I did a calculation completely wrong so I'd like a second opinion before taking it to a calc member.

The calculation is for a character the size of Earth getting thrown hard enough to destroy 3 planets.

The energy required I came to was E = 3×10^30 kJ, which doesn't seem right as it would make the energy required only planet-level.

Anyway, here is what I did.

I used this formula to find out Earth’s gravitational binding energy, as that would be the minimum amount of energy.

Here is what is plugged for each value.

  1. G=6.674 x 10^−11
  2. M=5.972 x 10^24 kg
  3. R=6.371 x 10^6 m
Using that, we come to this.

First square the mass: (5.972 × 10^24)^2 = 3.566 × 10^49 Multiply by G: 6.674 × 10^−11 × 3.566×1049 = 2.380 × 10^39 Multiply by 3: 7.14×10^39

Now the denominator: 5(6.371×10^6)=3.1855×10^7

Here is the final division.

So we get U⊕≈2.24×10^32 J

Then I found the kinetic energy:

Impact energy comes from kinetic energy, so we will solve using this formula. We solve for velocity. Here is the formula. Chaos was stated to have grown to the size of a planet as soon as he left Earth, so let's assume he was the mass of Earth, as that is the baseline I'm using. m=5.972×10^24 kg The required energy is E=2.24×10^32 J
Substitute: Here

Multiply numerator: 2(2.24×10^32)=4.48×10^32

Divide: This

Square root: Here

So the absolute theoretical minimum impact speed is: v≈8.7×103 m/s or 8.7 km/s or 19,000 mph. Or 6.72 x 10^32 J or Planet Level, even though 3 planets were destroyed.

Don't think the character being the size of a planet means that he also has the mass of a planet, due to the different density and volume

Assuming chaos has 1.71m height like the average adult male, to grow to the diameter of earth being 12756 kilometers, he'd would had gotten 7,459,649.2x times bigger

If as an average adult male he had a weight of 62kg, then: 62*7,459,649.2^3= 2.57363e22kg

Such difference comes partly because a 1.71m human has far less volume than a 1.71 diameter sphere, and the different densities

The character in question is not a human. It is a dragon. And I’m just going with my baseline being earth size or mass because that’s what I’ve been doing with most of the things in the calculation.
