Star Wars Discussion Thread Canon/Legends- Episode VI Return of the Threadi

ctually the prequels have been written in Shakespearian dialogue, feel free to look at them youself:
That's why I said "Lucas trying to larp Shakespeare"

I know what he was trying, and he:
1. Failed miserably
2. Making most of the films Shakespearean is a bad idea for a modern audience. You know your dialogue writing is bad when the fricking actors criticize it.

But if has been a while since you've watched the Raimi films, maybe try rewatching them and deciding for yourself if they still hold up
I prolly should but beyond just the dialouge, I think in terms of writing, the Raimi films blow EP1 and EP2 out of the window

EP3 is the only movie from the prequels I like

If it's any recompense, the bloopers are pretty funny, maybe they should've been included in the final cut:

One thing, in vsthreads try to limit yourselves to a few characters (as we are already doing)

Although it's been fun, 7-B will probably go away someday.

Probably will be scrapped for Grievous, but I imagine we could probably keep it for Vader off of the amped HR dude throwing the sky island.

It's because, according to Dale, the calculation has to change, right? I interpreted that there will definitely be a tier reduction.

If the 7-B feat remains 7-B, there are arguments for Grievous to downscale.

There are many characters with different declarations above HR. Yoda, Mace Windu, Dooku (by scaling with the last two), etc.

with the UES Scan collection thread thing?

do we like need more scans or are we just waiting for the UES Changes to go through? (or both?)

Saving.

I don't know how that thread will work, since it doesn't seem like they're requiring a re-evaluation thread or anything like that.

But it's good to save as much as possible in case we have to do it.

After that whole thread is finished (and its continuation, I think), maybe I'll ask Lephry what we should do.

I mean yeah, but the quick back of the envelope calculation I did suggested using a GPE drop/raise of 1 island height would still be around 7-B, just lower within the tier. If nothing gets done about it in the next few weeks I can try typing up my own proper calc for it after I get through a few more Legends speed feats

Eh, not sure I buy that since it relies on assuming the PT hype statements place its titans not just above the base stats of the HR high tiers in an apples-to-apples comparison (which itself I’ve seen arguments against using the HR’s own hype) but also that it would include things like the feat in question which took a rage amp to pull off IIRC.

It's because:
  • Yoda (various statements of being the most powerful Jedi)
  • Mace Windu (has a statement alongside Yoda about being the most powerful Jedi to ever set foot in the Jedi Temple)
  • Plo Koon (statement of being one of the most powerful Jedi ever)
  • Dooku (numerous statements of being comparable to Yoda and Mace)
  • The rest of the important characters are downscaled

Right, but Yoda being the most powerful Jedi doesn’t mean that Base Yoda > Massively Amped Elzar Mann. It just means Base Yoda > Base Elzar.

Honestly, for anyone who thinks the prequels have a good premise but problematic execution, I recommend reading the novelizations. The dialogue is more polished, and they add several introspective scenes and moments that improve the story.
@Doggo

I would also recommend playing Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, it is an overall loyal adaptation of the Star Wars Hexalogy's story, and any changes it does make actually adds more to the movies over detracting from them such as with the final duel in Revenge of the Sith, the high ground has been memed to death, and it's understandable why. It's ludicrous that the event that ended up putting Vader into his armor is "the high ground" among other things. In the Complete Saga at the end of the level "Darth Vader" there is no high ground, it's a straight and fair duel to the death with no gimmicks or any crap, and Obi-Wan is able to pull a win by his own grit, which I say is more impressive! Obi-Wan fought Anakin on fair and even ground, and he was still able to come out in the end, and not all because:

OBI-WAN uses HIGH-GROUND

OBI-WAN's defense rose!

Foe ANAKIN uses HIGH JUMP

It's Ineffective!

OBI-WAN uses SLASH!!

It's Super Effective!

Foe ANAKIN is chopped into pieces!

OBI-WAN defeated ANAKIN

why did I now just realized that

The Person who redubbed Boba's lines in ESB, The Person who played Boba in Book of Boba Fett, and The Guy who played Jango Fett are the same guy
Yeah lol

It's really funny how they dealt with the clones (this also applies to the 2008 CW VA for the Clones too)

Now that I've watch all the prequels

@Epyriel Not sure if I can consider Rogue One to be great, while it's a fine movie on it's own, do you remember anything outside of the Darth Vader scene?

Also when just taking the plot into account, it doesn't make sense that Jyn's father was a Rebel from the start and was heavily involved in making the Death Star, you've got to wonder what was keeping him to rig the Death Star to self-destruct when, as Media Zealot says, "it busted its first nut."

Also, Rogue One kind of feels out of place with it focusing on one specific event that doesn't need our attention and doesn't need to be known about, and it would have already been told in the Expanded Universe anyway.

Absolutely, the entire Battle of Scarif and its setup is fantastic, the interplay between the rebel leaders, the sendoff of Saw Gerrera, and the individual sacrifices of the rebels on the ground are all very memorable to me. Especially after watching Andor you can come back to it with an even greater appreciation for the conclusion of Andor’s arc and the interplay between the recurring rebel characters.

The idea was that Galen needed to make a subtle flaw that gave the rebels a way to destroy the Death Star without making signs of sabotage obvious which would give the entire game away (after all, literally millions of people are working on this thing and scrutinizing his work, and his loyalty was already a bit in question). He explains as much in the movie that he needs to be the one to complete it else-wise they will find someone else to do it who won’t lay a trap within for the rebels to exploit.

And since the EU explanation for how the Death Star plans were stolen was no longer Canon, it is as fine a topic as any to make a movie about since it neatly sets up the plot for ANH.

You know, I really was looking into throwing Thrawn with prep at Artanis with prep after SC is revised, but legit besides numbers and Thrawn existing as a superior commander to anything the Protoss have, they really can't fight.
  • Boarding? Even basic Protoss are high 8-C and shielded, and they're not afraid to make Archons in their ships push cones to shove, let alone Immortals.
  • Ship to ship? That's flat-out suicide, it's only atmosphere to atmosphere a chance is even stood and that's a mutual one-shot.
  • Ground? Psionic storms>Everything Canon has to offer, and only force users can actually fight even a Zealot one on one.
Like at least the Zerg can harm Protoss stuff, the Empire kinda can't outside of a few exceptions. And the Death Star isn't a part of this. Large moon-sized space stations are just gonna get purified.

Can you elaborate on this?

Come to think of it, would Blasters be 7B with how we rate Mandalorian gear?

Ever wanted a High 6-C laser pointed at you? There's a reason the Golden Armada glassed a good quarter of the Koprulu Sector when Amon took them over, it's basically unstoppable.

Not really. Blasters are heat-based. Shielding ***** any and all heat.

It's kinda weird for something like Pre Visla's or Din's blades to have more AP than an energy weapon.

Ever wanted a High 6-C laser pointed at you?
That would be sick. Can you call them?

Weren't there talks of bringing back the 200 gigaton statement since Disney made that one book canon? There are also a lot of blatantly tier 6 feats from ships in ByAsura's blog. Would be mad funny if that's how we get tier 6 Force users by somehow scaling them to the ships.
