The Boys discussion thread

I think we need to accept the possibility that Homelander isn't going to snap, and is just going to laser a chair or something in the finale.

I wonder if Homelander will now be significantly above Soldier boy too.

Although he never was challenged to being with so I see no reason to buff him even more.

Also a bit of a scaling note. Butcher took a full power laser from Homelander (he was trying to kill Butcher) and immediately got up and sneaked away.

Meanwhile Bombsight's tackle put him out for a while.

Now yes the meta reason is because the main character got benched to promote a spin off. But still, notable feat.

Soldier Boy is just straight up not the same person he was in Season 3 AT ALL. They completely revised his character for the spin off show And unfortunately, most of his presence in this season seems to have purely been to promote that show. It's crazy how forced a lot of his scenes and dialogue feels. And it sucks, because he was easily the most entertaining character in Season 3.

i just cant believe deep offed noir like that, i mean im not mad because noir 2 was straight up not a good character, but I dont get how they scale deep in this show. he’s treated as a complete joke but has statements of being able to survive in the mariana trench, he can choke out noir, physically he was kinda whooping starlight in that one fight until a-train pulled up— maybe since his stuff with noir is over they might turn him up some?

soldier Boy has always relied on Jensen’s performance tbh

The actual character sucks ass

Deep Is underrated AF in strength, remember A-Train had to punch his gills to win in Season 3

episode also suggests that Homelander's skin is particularity weak compared to characters like Maeve and such? He cut like multiple inches into his arm yet his hv doesn't scratch Maeve?

Maeve used her bracelet to block. Tungsten probably.

Noir 2 died of stupidity.Like yeah almost every supe with a good power set also has super strength and super dura, hence why deep could harm and stab Noir2.But Noir 2 could just have flied up and pulled a Gunn Superman move.Wtf.

I sense a Homelander downscale to combat speed not equaling his flight speed.Since Bombsight could blitz Butcher but only with flight.

Yeah sure. still doesn't matter because Crimson countess exists. It's clearly a retcon no matter how many pages and books you write defending it. Soldier would be looking for Liberty if she was the love of his life, rather than Crimson countess. Instead she is a throwaway reference to show that these two character attended previous herogasms.
Are you aware of what "all else aside" means?

Nah, Noir would've beat his ass if he didn't get the drop on him.

Given that also the likes of Marie and Kimiko withstood similar attacks (heat vison and Bomsight tackles, respectively) plus Kimiko and Butcher fought on close terms in king of Hell while under Quinn's powers, I'll say that Butcher is just in Kimiko's level

Already on that since the season started lol

Genuinely the boys is so inconsistent with flight speed and combat speed.Homelander can react at Hypersonic speeds via s1 calc, but cant blitz Butcher who cant react to bullets. The boys is a superhuman speed fodder verse tbh

I want to ask yall, what would you think of the ending if Homelander wins?

He slaughters the Boys, takes over USA entirely with Soldier Boy by his side. It ends with him realizing after doing all this and even killing Butcher he is still not happy, cut to black

And secondly how likely is it that the Boys actually lose, I don’t really remember a series where the bad guy actually wins completely but with how mediocre this season feels like a shocking ending would do good at least for me.

Sounds like a bad ending to me,the whole buildup for nothing, plus Homelander needs to get humbled, thats how his character development will end.

This season aint bad at all.Homelanders character gets even better, soldier boys ehhh kinda.Only bad thing for me is how Butcher is underperforming and the fact that everything is ok like he were ignoring the ending of s4.

(Plus ily, youre awesome for that Saiki scale.)

Tbh, that's the entire show in a nutshell at this point. The writing is ass, but the performances are amazing. If I didn't have sunk cost fallacy, I'd have dropped the show a while ago.

I'd be fine with Noir dying if he either took the Deep with him, or we got a cool fight out of it. I was so annoyed by how Noir II died. He didn't even try to fly to break out of the chokehold even though he was in it for a bit. Not that I'm huge fan of Noir II, but how he went out was infuriating, bc it made his presence pointless. Should've just used a V-Zombie Noir, if they weren't planning anything. Two episodes left and it feels pretty sloppy. I love how despite their "satire" they're doing the same thing they criticized but worse (VCU). If they don't stick the finale, their spin offs will probably flop. Who tf asked for the Boys: Mexico?

It's not reallt noteworthy, but assuming Ashley (even with V) is as strong as a normal human, then Sage should be above that, as Ashley could free herself from Sage

They spent all of Season 4 building up Butcher's power, making him throw away his humanity in the final episode, which made viewers feel like he would be a major threat in Season 5-but no, he was completely useless in the final season. Really disappointing.

Right. It was even teased that he was now an equal match for Homelander. Nah, he’s running from both Homelander and Soldier Boy, with implications that Ryan could kill him

Btw just so y'all know, the "leaks" that came out a few weeks ago were absolutely true. Everything that was in them played out. So if you do see leaks, (there are some for episode 7 as well, but not 8) just note they are probably real spoilers for the series.

brother what homelander likely didn't know about bombsight still being there and rock hard is featless

Rock Hard is said to be nearly as strong as Homelander. We can take this seriously since the literal only reason they targeted him was due to this. So Rock Hard should scale to Homelander just fine, meaning Maeve at the time was weaker

However, Rock Hard was insignificant, wasn’t doing anything at this point. So it’s reasonable to assume Homelander just didn’t consider him in the statement

Ironically they retroactively kept Butcher's humanity (barely) alive in the form of his old dog; Terror. Making a deal with super cancer apparently means you get superpowers, a fully healed body and lose all the fatal consequences of temp-V in return for sacrificing some (but not all) of your humanity.

Not only Homelander, but probably the writers themselves didn't even knew about them lmao

We don’t have the timeline of Rock Hard’s character, and we know he’s a member of Teenage Kix, it could be a recent thing.

Besides I think the statement is best applied to characters known before Season 3, because we’ve seen the writers don’t mind making retcons
