Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

I want to see Godzilla vs Super Sonic

Honestly... How much would we bet on Super Godzilla?
All of our life savings.

Not atm, but there is a CRT that will eventually lead to High-Godly Regeneration Negation if it succeeds (and only Negation).

That won't be for quite a while, though.
I felt like I should let yall know Rick got High Godly and a few passives (luck and stuff), would that make their match with Eggman a stomp? Or we can wait for that CRT and keep it on the profiles

It doesn't really seem like the new stuff changes the win-cons
It does make it harder for Eggman to win, though
-Item theft and reversal (using fortune cookies and/or anti-matter/portal gun against Rick
-Layered time stop or body puppetry + durabillity negation
-Metal Sonic power mimicry (can in theory copy Rick's win cons and use them first thanks to speed amplifications. Speed may be equalized, but there's nothing stopping Eggman from giving Metal speed multipliers via the Power Cores in his suply)
-Zavok clones hijacking Rick's technology and using them against him
High-Godly Resurrection doesn't really counter any of this
Edit: It's only the luck that really changes things.
To answer your previous question,
Does Sonic verse have counters for High-Godly?
BFR and Sealing work just fine.
Using those win conditions on Rick would be difficult, though.

That's very interesting.
Masked was wondering about this, considering how many fundamental aspects Sonic has now.
Masked will look forwards to this.

I personally disagree and find the rebuttals against Invulnerability as being largely ignorant to some lore and mechanics, with most people failing to realize nearly every single instance of a Super Form being harmed has an explanation to account for it (the most simple one for an example being that utilizing a source of Chaos Energy allows you to harm a Super State in turn). The only one that doesn't is Knuckles surprise-attacking him in Sonic 3 (and Big Arms, but that one is a bug).

I even have a thread prepared for when the "Invulnerability requires a mechanism" thread actually passes, cuz I already know certain people are gonna jump for joy and create a thread to remove it from Super States. I respect your disagreement though, it's not a take that disgruntles me except for when people are belittling about it or try to attack my media literacy over it.
Can't Super Sonic also still be damaged by higher IP, or is that a given? I agree with invulnerability, but just asking.

If he can be damaged by higher AP alone and nothing else, then it isn't true Invulnerability. Thankfully, that never happens with Super Sonic.

Solaris? Chaos Emeralds' energy. Egg Salamander? Sol Emeralds' energy. Dark Gaia? Chaos Energy. Starfall Titans? Literally said to be fueled by "Chaos Emerald energy" verbatim. The End? Cyber Corruption, which stems from Chaos Energy. I don't want to go through every example though, that will be saved for the thread.

I literally mean no shade to Frontiers at all but is this going to have better pop-in and physics than the SEGA-made game in question
Is it sad that this is most likely so true? Maybe this is why they're possibly coming out with a Definitive Edition 😭

On a separate note, I find it fun that they revamped (or are currently revamping) Speed Simulator's hud and UI and whatnot. It's also doubly hilarious that it happens right after Cell vs Metal, where they use Speed Sim.

On a separate separate note, the seethe generated by them using Sonic Speed Simulator was hilarious. And I say that as a person who understands very well why people think a Roblox game being canon is absurd lol.

THEY'RE CHAOS ENERGY, THEY'RE CHAOS ENERGY, YOU'RE CHAOS ENERGY, I'M CHAOS ENERGY! IS THERE ANY OTHER CHAOS ENERGIES I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT!?

So, Chapter 11 of Sonic and the Blade of Courage released a day or two ago.

It was... AWESOME! The brief fight between Amo the Wicked Deity and Sonic was legendary, showing in equal measure Amo's power and Sonic's tenacity and fearlessness. I'm excited to see how the fight continues in Chapter 12.

This manga makes Sonic so cool and badass while being true to his character all throughout, and has given other characters time to shine as well (Tails, Shadow, Metal, Eggman, Amo, even Yuuta regardless of having some slightly corny dialogue on occasion lol). From how it's looking, this is probably gonna end as one of my favorite pieces of Sonic media ever.

I read it too and I wholeheartedly agree.
The blade of courage being a part of Amo in such a literal sense is not something I was expecting but how they handle it is kind of neat. I was low-key expecting maybe a Light Gaia and Dark Gaia type dichotomy when Amo called the blade of courage his "other half" with Amo and the blade being otherwise unconnected but the sword literally just being Amo's split off horn is somehow cooler than it should be.

It's a very cool concept to me as well! Amo is such a unique and unnerving villain that, although it will absolutely never happen, I would love to see how it would appear in the games (alongside how such a fight could be handled in gameplay).

Talked about if the World Rings were somehow amping Sonic in my doc and this damn game made me unintentionally reference the six seven meme because of it I need secret rings banned forever with its named shunned across history and for the universe to implode if anyone dares try to make another game like it and I curse this franchise to a thousand more years of the current Sonic model but with even worse and shorter quills and the games to contain a billion references with png flashbacks every other sentence and horrendous pop-in that makes Frontiers look like the absolute pinnacle of game optimization

What does it do?
Nothing specific yet in terms of new abilities or the like afaik, though I'm not 100% certain.

Though it does ironically give Eggman an extra intelligence feat, as Sage states verbatim that the Doctor utilized the Ancients' technology to give Metal the upgrade.

I guess it makes Metal Sonic's Black Shield actually reflect projectiles back at enemies. Have no clue if they plan to update the rest of Metal Sonic and his base skins to have the Black Shield and that reflecting projectile property in future updates, could happen.
They also made specific "Super tier" characters able to parry projectiles back at enemies: Super Sonic, Super Shadow, Doom Wing Shadow, Chaos Actions Shadow (Hero and Dark forms). Those are the ones that I know of, probably more.

I mean if they're a way higher tier in general (like a random 1-B for example). Would that still cause damage at that point?

It is quite good! It really evokes the spirit of Yuusha with the cool monsters we're getting added in. Keeping Sonic as a paragon for kids to look up to is right at home in a Sonic story, and I'm glad we've had the chance to see more of it. Gives me vibes like that of Exkaiser or Fighbird.

And "corny" dialogue? No need to fuss about that. It's perfectly at home in series like this. Love me my friendship speeches, indomitable willpower, attack shouting, and hot blooded dialogue. Just translate it well and that's all I care.

Ahhh.

True Invulnerability on this wiki protects a character against attacks from a Low 1-A character, with 1-A and above being the cut-off for those who aren't 1-A themselves. It's also why they are seemingly splitting Invulnerability into types, with only 1 type having this potency, because having it be commonplace for a 5-B or a 4-C or a 3-A to have what is essentially Low 1-A durability hax is quite... powerful.

Also, it came out differently in the end, but I had intended for Blaze's world to be the world of the Special Stages from the previous 2D Sonic games. In that world, Blaze is the counterpart to Sonic, and Eggman Nega is the counterpart to Eggman… well, anyway, if we get to do a sequel I perhaps I'll expand on that. (laughs)

Akinori Nishiyama
It's a funny concept because it's kinda what most Western fans thought what Fang was thinking his subspace was meant to be the Special Stages.

Also, this part made me laugh
Nishiyama: Sonic is essentially an action game, but one with very strong character game elements. So that feeling players have―which I think is shared with RPGs too―of wanting to go on an adventure with the characters you love, that is something that's very important to us. Unlike movies and other dramatic mediums, in video games you can't just rewind or fast-forward; you're stuck with the creators intent, so if we put a boss that's too hard or a puzzle that's too difficult, then the narrative effectively ends there. Since the player may never experience the whole story, I think the most important thing for us to do as game creators is make sure the characters' personalities are well-defined and clearly presented. When players feel the characters are cool and can develop an emotional attachment to them, I think that is a kind of entertainment that's unique to video games.

Yeah I wasn't up to date on invulnerability standards on the Wiki or how they work anymore. I was still under the assumption they protected you in the context of your tier and that high enough IP could still hurt them and that they weren't some form of durability hax. Which to be fair, I used to believe in something like that in my normie debater days, I just didn't know there was a way we could make it official.
