What symbolism did you weave into your work that you’re most proud of?

cause i have 2 and one of them is the name of this account 🫠

tho it isn't all of it.

Really curious if anyone could share lol.
With my Sci-fi Hero Z’efra, I basically made all of her main villains a critique of her in some way, as the world’s first professional superhero.

Floodman: An anti-capitalist villain who drowns the wealthy. He also serves as a critique of her early career where she initially focuses on saving wealthy people and kind of has an almost “blah” attitude when it comes to stopping random street thugs.
Anti-Capitalist villain.

Dragoon: A dragon king from another world who mirrors Z’efra’s own conceited thoughts that comes from being super powerful via a special ability she just happened to be born with.
Anti-Nepotism villain.

The Aeryon Empire: A multi-galaxy spanning empire which houses uncountable numbers of Aeryon humanoids, the race which Z’efra belongs to, of which there are many with their own motivations.
A society where intelligence and blood are the only things that matter. A place where a noble without “Omniscience” is not considered a noble at all. Where fools are only meant to serve geniuses and nothing more.
Anti-Arrogance Villains + more

For mine, much like but distinctly different from Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation, I had the idea of creating a power system based on “will,” which at that point was synonymous with your “heart.”

In my story each being has a distinct “spiritual realm” of some sort that describes their true nature and who they truly are. The protagonist, after awakening an ability to see emotions as colors, could see people’s “hearts” and true natures. I made it so his “awakening” involved a lotus with infinite colors and hues. His “inner world,” which he is yet to see, is a garden with myriads of colorful flowers with different shapes and forms symbolizing each and every life he recorded and saw—i.e., their “hearts.” And within it, the lotus, now that it bloomed symbolizing his inner growth and enlightenment after he severs the past that haunts him, looks holy and beautiful.

So I named it “Myriad of Hearts Spiritual Flower Garden.”

It's also kinda the source of his powers, so in the future I made it so it would contain a lake.

A vast lake reflecting the sky.

A vast pool located at the highest mountain peak.

The Lake holds the myriad forms of the heavens, yet it itself never changes.

The lake that symbolizes heaven represents the present, and records the past I contend with.

And… change.

That is… the realm I attained.

Eternal change.
its all part of the original power system progression i made lol.

I also made a different version of both characters, who Symbolize change/life, basically another version of them from another world that collapsed, who Symbolize eternity and the "end"

for the former i still have yet to find any proper "world"

for the former i have this

"i am"
a dark star
a star as dark as the darkest night
in the valley of dead stars
the spacial where every end manifests and takes form
the abyss of a black star.
a long deep pillar
a starlight, trajectory, a light that bites it's own tail
and....chaos
"the one who became the darkest star."

I’ve been stuck on the endgame plans, but the idea that keeps coming back to me is the mc being a figure like Darkseid or Dracula. Don’t know if I’ll commit to it though.

Going to continue the annual tradition of coming back to revive this for five seconds and then bouncing. Lol, but for real, I recently added seers to my lore, and it went into interesting places. So precognition is probably the only type of seer ability that isn’t completely rare. But the range of what is considered a "seer" ranges from like Katakuri style precog and a "Merlin/Doctor Manhattan" style viewing ability.

Question, for those of you who write fantasy action stories, do you prefer a universal power system or a more individualistic power system?

Depends on the story. There is no one size fits all, but the most basic fantasy setup is a magic system and a faith magic system, sometimes this is combined like in Warhammer Fantasy, but that's the basic system.

Yeah, I prefer a mix of both in general.

Yeah, I prefer a mix of both in general.
I also use a mixture of both. I technically have both a universal power system & an individual power system that fall under the same umbrella. Basically, in my setting everyone has supernatural powers based on the inner spirit similar to Ki. Not everyone can use magic which requires the user to undergo an awakening if they aren’t already supernatural entities.

The powers go from general to specific/unique. Supernatural beings have less weaknesses that are common to normal mages. Though they can have different types of weaknesses depending on the subtypes.

Speaking of the recently I’ve modified the lore a bit to make the distinctions between the three generaly forms of magic more clear. All people have inner magic which is rarely called magic, usually called willpower or inner spirit-channeling. The magic used after an activation is usually called natural magic, mundane magic or simply Magic. The magical powers used by supernatural beings is called supernatural magic or Magyk.

As for why characters draw a distinction in-universe the only real difference is that Magyk doesn’t not require conscious thought. It can activate in response to subconscious desires, or at protect a user without them having to think about it. However, it isn’t inherently beyond the Magic used by mortals in terms of strength it just has less drawbacks.

Willpower is the opposite, you have to keep a maximum state of concentration to keep your power at full capacity. And as the name implies, it’s based on your willpower. So losing motivation or focus can be a death sentence. Though since everyone can use it, it’s very commonplace among soldiers because it can be trained unlike Magic which requires a special awakening. Because it is easy to train, it can weaken simply from lack of use like a muscle. So among the general population, most people only use it as boost mental focus, multitasking and physical stamina. In most people it’s atrophied.

In contrast, Magic as used by Awakened Mortals is a middle ground between Magyk & Willpower. It requires an intentional use most of the time for larger scale abilities, and is rarely possible to use subconsciously. However, in requires less constant focus. So as long as you are semi conscious it’s usable. It also can be infused into other areas. For example, mages can make or buy enchantments that heal them by tapping into their energy so they don’t have to worry about having to think about it.

The weakest of the three is Inner Willpower because it’s so contingent on your mental state & focus. Magyk & Magic are relatively equal but they have their own unique strengths/weaknesses. So there are different strategies to fighting against a someone using magic depending on the type they use. Also, last thing for now, these are just the three most common. There are subsets with three general forms, and you can combine multiple forms, known as Hybrid Power. Beyond the common forms is stuff like Cosmic Magic, but it isn’t often encountered.

It's off topic, but here's one question. Is it okay if a character who consistently was in range of 10-A - 9-C tiers (basically he sometimes could get folded by thugs, even though he still could easily overpower regular humans and even have inhuman amounts of LS, strong enough to chuck a washing machine really high) after some time-skip gets into the war arc and gets some absurdly OP feats like absolutely no-selling nuclear explosions or surviving attacks from continent destroying weapons (basically it's 22th century in the lore and some weapons got advanced enough to literally reshape Earth's geography). I'm asking it from the writing perspective - would anyone who's not involved in Powerscaling care about it or I have to write how this character got so powerful? Is time-skip gonna cover that massive inconsistency, considering this character is secondary?

This verse is on a very early stages of development and currently I can only think of it's premise, worldbuilding, summaries of it's (possible) arcs and few characters (who are mostly secondary or comic reliefs). I'm currently haven't come up with a reasoning how this character gets to such level, so I'm not sure - should I even do something about it or leave it as it is?

Anyone not involved in powerscaling would still want to see an explanation as to how and why your character achieved their power, unless they just don't gaf.
I just got really curious about that, because I've noticed how many people doesn't really care about consistency in power level. It's especially noticeable in comics, Superman gets rocked by Muhammed Ali, but in other comics he unironically have Outerversal feats for some reason

But here's one more thing about my lore I'm working on - I want to make my character flawed. REALLY flawed. He's so flawed and disgusting by his nature (he's not really evil, but he literally consists of the most disgusting and unsanitary things, also I forgot to mention that he have crap ton of unpleasant/annoying/negative personality traits) that he can never be accepted by most people. He hides from them and hates them for nitpicking flaws of each other and brings retribution to society for all of that. But he goes through a character development and understands how unjustified and cruel he was to people, that he hated the whole humanity only because of few bad people in his past life, that not all people are like that and accepts his flaws and finds some inner peace, despite his flaws and atrocious actions. But here's a thing - I'm not really sure, should he even make some friends and allies after his character development, or he should just accept the way he is and understand that he never would be accepted by anyone and live his life to the fullest in complete isolation. What do you think? I like messages from either of them, but I'm not really sure how true is any of them (Are there any real people that can't be accepted no matter what? How flawed you have to be to not be accepted? Is it even possible?)

It’s true, but only to an extent. The Superman example is actually the opposite of what you’re saying. Superman was depowered by a red sun.
Also about the character's personality, I would be cautious. The more unlikeable a main character comes off to the audience the less likely they’ll want to keep staying engaged.

It’s a monthly tradition at this point where I periodically revive this by dropping lore lol. Random tidbit number #999, my story has three different types of space travel, which can’t be used with a planetary atmosphere.

First is Sublight Travel which reaches near the speed of light (99.999%). Then you have FTL Drive Travel, which is an amped form Sublight used for Intra Galactic travel. Finally, you have Hyperspace which has unlimited range within Mundus but is incredibly dangerous to use repeatedly.

This does sound kind of badass NGL. Minor thing, imo, maybe not repeat "star" as much and use synonims to make it flow better?

I dunno, kinda like:

"I am..."
a dark star.
As dark as the blackest of nights...
deep within the valley of dead stars.
The space where every end manifests and takes form...
the void, the abyss of the dark, black stars.
The long deep pillar...
the starlit trajectory, the light that bites it's own tail...
The chaos...
"the one who became the darkest star."

Thanks for the input ❤️
I just feel like the repetition drives the point home, kinda?
"The abyss of a black star" is also a character thing and it's more compact for better poetry and flow
"The" also halts the flow and rather than "adding" to the symbolism (like peices to a puzzle) it describes it if you get what I mean.

I charged at the wizard, ready to unleash all of my power. The wizard responded by conjuring up a massive asteroid, which they hurled towards me with deadly precision. I could feel the intense heat of the celestial body as it hurtled towards me, but I didn't back down. I channeled all of my energy, reaching immeasurable layers into boundless, and let out a roar. I AM IMMEASURABLE LAYERS INTO BOUNDLESS!! ARGGHHH!" I lifted my hand and with a flick of my wrist, I sent the asteroid hurtling back at the wizard. They dodged it just in time, only for me to then conjure up a sun and throw it at them with even greater force.

Ah, right, my bad. I imagined I was lacking context, but you get my idea. Hadn't really thought about the usage between the "a" and "the" but it's a rather clever one.

Uuh... let's go the full way then:

I charged at the Multi-Continent level wizard to unleash all of my Small Planet level power. I could feel my Energy Manipulation pulsating in me, my Powers and Abilities were gaining more and more layers as I charged and my Empathic Manipulation drove my feelings of determination and courage. He smirked at me. He should have known I was two whole tiers above him, yet this display of confidence shook me like a 10-C facing a High 8-C. Then I realized, as undecipherable words came out from his mouth, that it was no mere Magic, it was a power unique to his verse that I didn't know about. This realization came too late as the heat of the entire place shot up in an instant. Was it Fire Manipulation? Temperature Manipulation? I had no time to think, my Average level of intelligence just wasn't enough for such deduction, and the colossal meteorite approached from the sky above to crush me like a mere Below Human level ant. Was it Summoning a massive asteroid from outer space? Was it a Creation feat? No matter. I didn't back down! My memory of what was important and my feelings would not falter! My Supernatural Willpower was unbreakable! Further, trascending my 3D limitations, further into higher dimensions, reach a power that makes my previous existence a mere fiction compared to what I could achieve. Immeasurable layers above, breaking through the dimensions, transcending, leaving concepts and mere duality behind. 1-C, 1-B, 1-A... Further, I could go further! Then I roared: "I AM IMMEASURABLE LAYERS INTO BOUNDLESS!!!" My shout, my pride tore the reality around us like a tissue, down to it's very concepts, it's information, it's logic, it could no longer contain my existence. The celestial body was gone with a thought and so was the Wizard with a mere 3D existence and his 4D rate hax. But then, I could see he had been freed from his mortal shell and his trascendent Outerversal soul tried to escape. "You will not get away!" I thought to myself. I clenched the illusion of my fist a sun, but not a mere star, rather a body the size larger than existence itself, as large as the pillars of the outerverse, going beyond any possible concept of dimensions, and crushed it into itself to create something far more formidable than immeasurable amounts of infinite Big Bangs. The wizard was gone.

There, I tried to add as much powerscaling breinrot as I humanly could. Funny part is, that even will all this I really doubt I got even close to Tier 1.

By the time I got to the word Outerversal I was already dead

How generic/popular is trope of "deceitful vigilante"? Basically how common are characters, that start their path as "anti-heroes" who violently hunt down the villains and do many other morally questionable things, but at the start they seemingly do more good than bad and those moral concerns and complexity gets absolutely dismissed by people in the story, since that character seems to be "in the right". But this character gets more and more questionable/vicious during his "raids", and people still don't hold him accountable for anything of that. But at the end of his journey, turns out this character never was "a hero" in the first place, and was trying to get as much people as possible on his side and completely desensitize them to any form of violence, by doing it in justifiable ways. It was a plan all along and people realized that way too late, and now they are in serious danger, since they let that "deceitful vigilante" to thrive and get much more power than he had previously
