Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Is this fine? Just checking rq for the revision that's happening rn
Idea, why not add it to his Classic Base key as something like this?
  • High 5-A, Low 4-C with the 7 Chaos Emeralds
It would remove the need for another key, while still getting all the same information across in the statistics and doing so with less work? It would also still allow you to use sub-tabbers in stuff like the P&A or Notable Attacks.

👋
Out of curiosity I want to ask something. Is there a piece of Sonic media that you guys weren't that big a fan of when it first released but have warmed up to over time? For me I played Sonic Superstars again recently and enjoyed myself more on the second run through than I did on the first one to the point where my feelings on it have changed from luke-warm to good.

- The boss fights are still hell in that game though.
I think Sonic 1 is the only Sonic game I’ve ever felt that way for, though that’s mainly because my “dislike” period was when I was a kid and played the version built into Sonic Gens (I never got through Marble Zone lol). I don’t think I ever revisited the game until I played Origins, where I was a lot better at games and could appreciate it more.

I don't know if this has ever been discussed before, but the justification for the restoration properties of Sonic's speed looks very similar to the definition of Mid-Godly regen. The only "distinction" is the verb used .
It actually has been, yes. A few of us were debating over the semantics some time long ago of when such a scenario could apply where the Restoration is combat-relevant iirc (such as in team battles, against EE users, etc.)

It could be a "limited" version with a "possibly" rating.

Imagine not being able to kill a blue rodent with ranged hax because he does not STOP running :ROFLMAO:

Hmmm... OG Sonic Generations.

I absolutely despised Sonic's "new" voice as a child (I didn't play Free Riders and Colors was only on the Wii/DS) and loathed the side missions for the keys. I still played it a lot despite that, mostly trying to get all the Red Rings.

I revisited the game a few years later, maybe 2 or so, and I was a lot less resistant to things like Sonic's voice or the side missions. Hell, I think the side missions hold a lot of the charm.
For me I played Sonic Superstars again recently and enjoyed myself more on the second run through than I did on the first one to the point where my feelings on it have changed from luke-warm to good.
I enjoyed playing the game with my little sister, so I have an overall positive sentiment of the game because of that. I could see why some wouldn't be a fan though.

I thought the occasional difficulty was nice, but the length of some were quite tedious from what I remember lol.

ok i'm blind there's actually something that might supposed to be the Earth at the very end of Meteor Base Zone Act 2, my big question is if the Egg Destroyer is actually looking directly at it cause it somewhat looks like it's facing away from it a little bit

If you can count pre-release thoughts on a game, then both Frontiers and CrossWorlds for me. I like those a lot now ( CrossWorlds especially ) but I had zero confidence in them from official advertising ( Frontiers especially ). Sonic The Fighters has warmed up for me too. I appreciate its gameplay a lot more now.

this website kinda sucks ass for uploading images. o_O
fr 😭
the blue orbs in the backgrounds of the respective feats are likely the planet earth for the direction the ship is travelling and the other one behind mother wisp when you kick her ass,
Disagree on the Nega Mother Wisp tho, we've seen what the Earth looks like in the Nega Wisp Armor fight and if it was really intended to be Earth, we'd see the same thing, but here it's different. It seems more to be like a portal where the meteors are coming from especially since we see somewhat similarly colored attacks from Nega Wisp Mother and they only ever come from the orb

It doesn't look like Earth but it might've been intended to be Earth, if that makes sense

I see it separated into keys for profiles like Emerl (granted I didn't play Battle so I might be missing something obvious) so it was just that

Emerl's is more of a case of classic protag growth than amplification tbf, his case is more like Goku from begining of Z to Freeza Saga than Goku to Super Saiyan, you know what i mean?

Maybe bc the devs did so for stylistic purposes and/or graphical limitations? It fits the bill enough given being blue and we also haven't seen what the Earth looks like in the Rivals series along with Egg Destroyer being pointed near it

I don't want to think it's Earth either since we'd lose an extremely blatant MFTL+ feat but given the context it probably is

Theres like many examples in colors ds of their earth looking like a non descriptive blue orb in the background of the variety of stages and its consistent there using the same graphics as the boss fight. Basically comes down to graphically they just didn't add detail (not like sonics planets geography ever had a map consistency). Here and here.

I'd rather be correct (also have like other calcs besides the blatent laser timing stuff with lasers that reflect off mirrors).

In the background here you are running above earth, they use the same graphics as the mother wisp calc; here at 3:20 and here at 3:27; this is repeated a couple times.

In the same video linked; you see the blue orb identically in the background of the wisp boss battle, where prior to going super you have earth as a backdrop of course (linked 25:09)

Actually, those are different looking orbs. For Colors DS, Earth looks like this. I feel like there'd be no reason to not use it in the Nega Mother Wisp fight. The Special Stages orbs look different, they're also more lightly colored and differently textured compared to the orb in the Nega Mother Wisp fight.

Earth in the background prior is somewhat understandable but it also depicts the fight as taking place the furthest away compared to the other areas. It also seems to depict them flying away from it

Also added these. Here and here. Its not like they stay consistent.

But the ending just shows them stopping by a static big ol' blue orb identical to the other endings of the special stages running above earth seals it for me (the copied textures on the two screens mirrored with the star patterns show both a detailed one on the bottom screen and blue orb on the top screen of earth. I'm pretty resigned to the conclusion its just Earth in the next scene, rather than a portal or other stuffs like a blue star, vibes as the biggest blue thing they should be by.

I disagree, unless one can prove it IS the Earth... it can just as easily be another blue planet, what definitive proof do we have that IT IS the Earth? Vibes is not enough

Also you shouldn't want or not want things based on "uhhh high number", that is the LEAST important thing

We are talking about Rivals, not Colors DS tho... so? Also... these can just as easily be another of the Wisp Planets, which is BLUE and YELLOW just like the two spheres there
Eggmanthemepark.png

also...

Supporting the above, it doesn't make much sense for both to be the same planet if... they looking vastly different, one is FAR more detailed than the other... if we have other options that fit into what happens in the cutscenes and stages... why would we assume the one that creates "problems" for what happens? I really don't get it

How do you know that? That is a special stage, aka, another dimension from Earth, also... how can it be Earth if there are several buildings on the background that, given the perspective of them being BEHIND the planet, would dwarf the Earth completely? Also... we HAVE another blue planet right there, and this also looks different from the other examples you gave... it doesn't need to be Earth... so why assume it is at face value?

In the same video linked; you see the blue orb identically in the background of the wisp boss battle, where prior to going super you have earth as a backdrop of course (linked 25:09)
Is there any proof that the blue orb in the battle is Earth? Specially when it looks extremely different from the one in the cutscene after the battle? Again, why are we just assuming it MUST be Earth? It doesn't, and given the speed the background suggests, it most likely isn't

Also added these. Here and here. Its not like they stay consistent.
They still have detail and look like Earth, though. Plus the second example also has the moon being visible which isn't true for Nega Mother Wisp

I can see the the orb being static at the end as a point but them returning isn't as they would just fly/teleport back to earth

All images we know it is Earth... look the very similar actually, only the ones that happen in the moments the background suggests far from Earth have "inconsistencies"... so like, maybe cause they aren't Earth, else why would the flight away from it would make the stars in the background go crazy like that?

Or it is the Blue Wisp Planet, or just a blue planet... we

Yes, the transition here also uses the same blue orb in the background of the fight and the congratulations sequence. (also the moon there bottom right of the orb 🌝)

The wisp fight having blurry stars appears more to be stylistic to me in the awkward placing of the planet being right there.

But that's also a different orb, though. It's subtle, but the coloring is different with a different glow to it. And we don't see the moon with the orb we see in the Nega Mother Wisp fight.
Like by a literal minor shade of blue and minus a white atmospheric outline. The moon could just be behind it there ig in the same line of logic with there not being half a moon in most every scene. It takes a lot of reaching to say the blue orb conveniently isn't the planet out of all the other scenes showing the same descriptors with the likelyhood of it being something other than a planet, barring it hurtling through space at MFTL+ speeds on its own in the same direction as Super Sonic and Mother and suddenly them stopping their fight there after she de-transforms.

The moon as we see in the game doesn't shine like the one showing here tho, so it is inconsistent to how it looks in game, thus making it unlikely to be the same
Where then? The (earthlike) planet sprites being low res is already a thing here for representing a planet, in the special stages assuming thats actually cross-dimensional in these instance of colors, ending of ultimate shows a similar background setting of how the moon appears. also asteroid coaster congrats parts has that blue spheroid with the moon transition to here. The more likely it just looking into it to me they didn't cross outside of the solar system, same boss fight is around earth in on the wii for the way the moon/sun appears there. @ 1:21 since the link is forky

Don't we also make transformations keys for both dragon ball and sonic

Yes, but this is a state he spends like 45 seconds in. IMO an additional key for it would bloat Metal's page, but I guess there isn't really much of a difference in the end.

I kinda get that I think either case works

I saw it as something like Vegeta's SSJ4, where it's a conditional form that only happened once that has its own key, but even then Vegeta has other natural SSJ forms so I guess that distinction was needed in that case

I changed it anyways, so hopefully it's better now

tbf this standard is a little inconsistent, Broly has non conditional transformations listed as separated keys, but Gogeta does not

Yeah I totally get that, there isn't really a hard rule one way or the other.

IMO it's much better, yes! Thank you!

There are plans for Metal to get a 3-profile split like Sonic himself, in which I think a key would be better suited at that rate? Still, that split will happen later down the line.

Yes I have been thinking about making a profile split for him after this, I was just worried incase you or someone else was making it
