Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

Speak about buff/Power growth. Does anyone buy(or change opinion) Super Eggrobo Z (from Sonic Advance 2), being a stronger version than Super Egg Robot?, alongside how fast base sonic getting stronger than Super Sonic in Advance 1, but how long did it take?, 3 months? or much longer.

I half-buy it? Like on one hand, it could've just been a weaker version of it. But on the other, why would it be a weaker version? I'm on the fence even if I'd like to agree fully.

Slightly unrelated but another interesting thing I found (Remus's CSAP page brought it to my attention) was the boss rush before the Super Eggrobo Z fight having Sonic defeat each past mech with less hits than before, getting twice as strong throughout the adventure. Though that has the same "maybe it's just a weaker version? But why would it be?"

Honestly, while a third party guide (i think,) I'd like to see what the Sonic Advance 2 Koushiki Guide Book has to say regarding Super Eggrobo Z and the boss rush, tho I can't find much about it online.

@TheStinkeer
your suspicions are valid, considering we don't have statements about Super eggrobo z being Super egg robot superior, besides the name and the implication being stronger than all past mech, enduring more damage.

I'm gonna assume it's either
A: Eggman has multiple backup, all share same moves and power wether it's advance 1&2 or sonic 4, where Eggman use Same eggmobile (with some changes) with same durability until final level, where sonic power growth Start kicks off and now he beats mech Faster.
B: It's just gameplay and health points are nothing more than just an illusion.
C: They are the same mech, and Eggman (assume he didn't have anything to fix them, while fight sonic) couldn't fix them soon enough and had to use everything until the final mech is complete.

While we don't have those (JP) guidebooks, we still have Sega/sonic team consistent hype up their next game, with weird statements about sonic facing new stronger enemies weather it's Deadly Six, infinite, or Titans, and the end with quotes about character need to be stronger than before.

Random question, What is the actual name of the Chaos Emeralds' energy in the Gameverse?
In 06 and other materials it appears to be referred to as “Chaos Power”, while in IDW Issue 59 it is called directly “Chaos Energy”, like in Archieverse

Sonic Wiki claims following names have been used:
Chaos Emerald energy, also known as Chaos Emerald power, Emerald forces, and Chaos energy
But these are from Battle, Labyrinth booklet, &Knuckles booklet and Unleashed, so it varies quite a bit.

Sonic Question Time: This should be interesting to discuss as I imagine we will all have different takes and preferences for this, so.
What do you want from Sonic's villains in the future and why? This can be broad preferences like wanting them to be portrayed more or less seriously or it can be hyper specific things like a story idea for a certain character that you think would be interesting. So anything really.

Its actually propaganda to make people forget that outside of Colors, Generations and Mania that 2010s were kinda shiiiiiiit
Don't forget using mobile games as cheap cope for those who wanted to play as other mainstay characters also kinda funny outside Colours, the other games had to use the "classic" era as a crutch lol!

Make them 1-A.

Okay jokes aside lol

I think having a balance of cosmic and terrestrial threats would be best, which is usually what occurs While I always love a good battle against a deity, having threats originate from the malicious individuals of Sonic's world is also a cool idea to me.

I am always of the opinion that Sonic is often at it's best when it takes itself seriously. It can still be lighthearted and appealing to all ages while doing that with serious moments, as it has in the past.

Have Omega be the villain and the random reason for a robotic uprising in a mainline game, to bring relevancy to parts of those endings from Shadow the Hedgehog.
Oh, unrelated to that, I just want more magic wizard type enemies to fight, no technology, just mage stuff. Sonic games/IDW needs its own Ixis Naugus equivalent.

Well, I really like the idea behind the Egg Bosses/Dark Egg Legion from Archie. As in, a group of vastly different characters who all work for Eggman yet each have their own personalities and motives for doing so. I feel something like that could help with the worldbuilding, and provide more perspectives on how people tend to operate in a scenario like that, if that makes any sense.

Nah 2 A or Low 1 C is where it's at.
Okay jokes aside lol

I agree wholeheartedly on both of those.

For my pick. I guess I'll go with something that's kind of out there but I think it'd be cool if Tails got a proper nemisis one day. Because so far he has a rival in Wave but as far as villains go all he's got to himself is the Witch Karters and those bird dudes (there's Kit too but Kit really doesn't seem that dedicated to being a villain to Tails specifically as much as he's just an extension of Surge). Then again I have no idea what a dedicated villain for Tails would be like but I do think Tails having an antagonist would be interesting for his independence arc.

Def agree with what others like LukeChaosBlobz said. I'd also like to see some villains like Merlina that show a glimpse of a little more morally gray anti-hero-ish Sonic. Of course, I don't want them to go too far with it. Just give us some more "I don't mind playing the bad guy sometimes" stuff going on, yk? Maybe throw in him going "Yeah I did it! :D" after he thinks he killed someone or throwing Erazor Djinn into lava for all eternity

also this both goes to villains and the main cast, but I hope they portray the base cast and base cast villains more impressively in the future. I'm not asking for them to have base characters sneeze away the multiverse by accident but let them, yknow, somewhat casually level a mountain in a fight for example.

Oh a new Manga chapter, whats it about?

Our baby boy Metal is in it and he actually beats up Sonic. He actually gets Sonic down on floor. And what does Sonic do? "Waku waku guess I just need to get faster". So because Metal has data of past Sonic, Sonic starts to run and then he just becomes faster and beats up Metal. They literally used Accel.Development and kinda recontextualizes why Sonic always beats Metal.

And real best part? Metal uses a generic energy/electric projectile from his hand. Thanks for totally reading my post this week manga lmao

I quite like the dynamic of Metal being able to overwhelm Sonic at first since, afterall, he is an exact copy of Sonic + more.

But then Sonic just breaks his own limits, forcing Metal to overdrive his systems to keep up before eventually losing.

This is the same comic series that nerfs everybody's powers into the ground anyways.

My conspiracy theory is that Evan nerfed Sage was that Belle would look good like she did in the issue itself.

Manga Sonic is gonna be such a fun page to use once this story is over.

@MaskedDragon908 Btw, I completely forgot to say anything, but you're newer to this site right?

I haven't noticed you in the general before sans the last few pages, and your message count is below 100. Good to have a new face around for discussions!

Unrelated but I always forget “sans” is a word with an actual meaning and get flashbanged every time i see someone use it

Thank you Blade of Courage for always being better than IDW.

I kinda do think BoC is more accurate to game Sonic personality wise, while IDW kinda isn't...

...but at the same time Sonic community would not accept that Sonic has "WAKU WAKU" Gokuism in him.

Masked is somewhat "new".
They have only just started participating in discussions,
but this account is 3 years old
and Masked has been lurking since Link was 3-A.

But thank you.
Masked has appreciated your work on both Sonic the Hedgehog
and, although they disagree with your attempted Mario revision, they also appreciate the effort you put into it
It is good to discuss these topics with good people

The very point that the characters can use different abilities and attacks already makes me more happy about it than IDW that sometimes needs to pretend their characters aren't superpowered animals.

The verse where an ordinary citizen got to the level of a final boss within 6 months of fighting

A lot of the so-called Sonic community doesn't actually know Sonic.

By the way, what's our stance on the time limit for Super forms? I know we recognize the time limit as canon in the Archie comics, but what about in the games?

Do we consider the time limit to be just a game mechanic? (Mostly asking 'cuz Metal Sonic Vs Cell seems to have sparked the debate again)

I think the time limit might depends on a mix of willpower and experience, with Rings sustaining Super Forms during "high level" fights.
