God of War Discussion Thread

I'm fully expecting the biggest new content will be in GOW3, they're 100% adding more gods because where tf where half of them when Kratos and the Titans attacked? Did Apollo and Artemis go on vactation just before Kratos attacked Rhodes? Did Demeter and Hestia die of the flu before Kratos got to them? Was Dionysus just black out dr- ok actually he probably was black out drunk somewhere during the events of GOW3.
mythology guy be like:

3 is gonna like, triple in size and I'm here for it. Sons of Sparta is already giving a lot more world building and lore for the gods than we've ever had.

Also, scaling is gonna be hella different from what little we've seen in SoS.

I feel like GoW remake will similar like SoS when it comes to semi-open world design plus the camera already using far away design

I just hope able to jump/arial combat and attacking enemies while climbing wall will return

Since Sons of Sparta has lore about how even the gods didn't dare challange the likes of Thanatos and his siblings (And generally just making primordials seem to be the strongest overall like they mostly are in the actual myths) despite Ghost of Sparta having a partial godhood Kratos being able to fight him, I've been wondering if they're gonna retcon most of the Ghost of Sparta storyline and bring back the storyline with Deimos they originally planned for God of War 3 in the remake.

Honestly, it's already debatable if partial god Kratos should still scale to Thanatos at all with the new info (+ the bronze stele in GoS saying the same thing) so I definitely see them changing it.

A lot of the scaling seems to be shifting thanks to SoS. Nike shielded Zeus from Typhon. Apollo nearly went to war with Poseidon. Cerberus > the Titan Coeus. Uranus having imprisoned all the Titans at once, etc.

Tbf, Ghost of Sparta had the gods fear Thanatos in the very game itself.

And I have high doubts Ascension, Chians of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta will be retconed. They go out of their way to mention those stories in Ragnarök and Valhalla, and Ascension's Primordial war is mentioned again in SoS.

I do agree tho Primordials seem to have been retconed into being more powerful, however I'll bet it on prolly being something like Ragnarök where their God tiers however aren't necessarily beyond the cast.

While greek old scaling get nuked, i'm sure there will be new benefit from this. So are there new Hax scaling or upgrade for Greek GoW ?

Chaos is now outright called the formless void that preceded existence. And Greece now has creatures with spatial manipulation i.e. Ladon.

All gods are getting transmutation, etc.

Spartans have absurd blacksmiths now. They can make spears that let you phase between realities, create temporal distortions, and have wounds that multiply after being inflicted.

Hm, Typhon's redesign seems to be heavily implied. Kratos indirectly describes him as having many snake heads on his body. Scylla too.

interesting, circe is daughter of helios, so what happened to her in GoW 3 ?
  • The Mercenary Sword of God of War: Ascension Multiplayer is said to be lit from Circe's flame.
  • she also appeared on GoW Rise of the Warrior comics

btw kratos blade of chaos flame is came from chaos itself right ?

So how do you translate the CM1/Info2 attacks to physical stats like durability? Since as I remember, those abilities are just range for effecting the cosmology.
....? You do realize they carry energy with them too right? And the Universal Energy System in the setting explains how characters scale to that, on the magic page.

Alright so if an energy based power is conceptual in nature, they can translate to physical stats?

Well, yes, unless it has no showcase of affecting the physical world directly. All physical and nom-physical power in the setting comes from magic, after all and there's plenty of cosmic feats of raw power from both pantheons.

And honestly, you are very unlikely to come across a universal energy system with no feats lol.

Also if a structure like Yggdrasil trancends the concept of time and space, should it be outerversal? If not, what more context needed for it to apply?

To my knowledge, you need to prove you transcend every possible dimensional extension of space and time to qualify for Low 1-A. Just "transcending time and space" on its own doesn't count as it can mean many things.

Can time and space considered to be a type 1 concept in GoW?
