God of War Discussion Thread

Also, is SSM just never doing fall damage again? I just realized the last game where it mattered was like, Ascension. Even this one has Kratos fall from like cloud level without a scratch.
Well the greek games were also, to a lesser extent, platformers in addition to hack and slashes so fall damage works well as a consequence for ******* up a jump, wouldn't really work as well with the norse games since they have little to no platforming and since there's no manual jumping in these games the levels and fighting arenas aren't designed with potentially fatal falls in mind so not much point in having it besides being a minor annoyance. And Sons of Sparta is a 2D metroidvania, it's rare for games of the genre to have fall damage in the first place since it's hard to make it work without making exploration and backtracking more of a chore (Although I think Salt and Sanctuary did it pretty well from what I remember).

Huh, there's a decent chance the Olympians might become more relative in the remake.

Apollo would have gone to war with Poseidon over Hestia and vice versa. And Artemis is confirmed to be stronger than Apollo.

Also, Artemis's Titan kill happened shortly after she was born, which is metal as hell.

I don't think its confirmed that she's stronger than Apollo, they are confirmed rivals and it only said that she's basically more aggressive than him in combat.

"In battle, Artemis remains the fiercer foe."
"Her bow is unmatched, even Apollo admits."
I dunno, I think it's pretty clear to me how to read this. Rivals in that sense could just mean the mundane way.

Also, the Skolopendra seemingly causes storms passively. The storm appears very shortly before it emerges at the port and instantly disappears when you kill it.

With a laser beam. Spartans have mounted laser weapons...

scans, or video, or something

I don't have videos lol, I'm just playing rn and noting stuff. It should be available on YouTube, the boss battle that is. Kratos does confirm when talking to Calliope that it's an actual laser though, a mirror that concentrates light into heat.

Lol 😂 a Spartan laser

So she's a better archer and fiercer in combat.

Yeah, the most charitable interpretation of that is that she is more aggressive and/or perhaps even more skilled a fighter.

Saying that outright relates to stronger as in muscle potency is more of a stretch.

Not that its matters much, they'd be relative as far as a profile goes.

I think otherwise but this a valid read, yeah.

Still, the Apollo/Poseidon would still mean that we might be getting more relative Olympians.

Lol 😂 a Spartan laser
Spartans have thermonuclear weapons now. Damn.

that laser absolutely no joke, it literally need just 1 blast enough to destroy that creature

Spartans seem to be generally superhuman now. They regular train against monsters to the point of having an arena for it and a bog they leave alone to "train against mythical threats". Atreus even fends off a Stymphalian after it pins Kratos and Deimos, though he was admittedly in danger.

Oh yeah, and Brontes is almost on par with Kratos physically.

We're still working on it so this isn't set in stone at all, but it looks like Spartan Cadet Kratos will be High 8-C. His LS will be pretty low, probably Superhuman at best.

Oh great, now we'll have a key for Kid Kratos (and I suppose his intelligence section will be expanded to include how smart he was has a kid)

We'll probably have to divide the Intelligence section. Obviously kid Kratos can't scale to his older selves on that.

Likewise we'll have to divide the weakness section. Kratos doesn't have his aversion to child violence as a teenager at all.

why would a child had a aversion to killing another child?(for legal reasons, i have to say this is a joke)

Also oof, Kratos went through Artemis's Cradle already (the flagellation ritual where Spartan Youth are bound to poles and whipped bloody in sacrifice to Artemis). It's Deimos's turn next year.

Finished Sons of Sparta. 8.5/10. Pixel art is a bit rough and Kratos can disappear against the background at times. Minimal bugs in my playthrough, though the cell transition could be improved.

Story is great though could use some polish. OST is legit Top 3 in franchise. Voice acting is solid. Bosses were a mixed bag. Final one is a bit easy but the most mechanically polished. Enemies have great variety though.

Decent sized map and long playthrough. A lot to do and after you get the full fast travel, it becomes far more open. Does take a while though, so be warned.

Overall, I'd recommend it. A shaky but firm first step of the new Greek saga.

with all honesty, i never finished any god of war games in my life (and with all honesty, last game i actually finished by myself, is Aground)

I finished all the games in the Greek saga on the highest difficulty settings possible. I couldn't finish the Norse mythology games on the hardest difficulty settings, but I did finish them on normal mode. Only that last Valkyrie in the current games really made me angry. I'm addicted to GOW. I've already finished 1 and 2 about 50 times. 😂😭

Wait is this different GoW game ?? Like now we have
GoW Game board
GoW sons of sparta
GoW remake 1,2, and 3
GoW new Game ?
GoW movies

I'm fully expecting the biggest new content will be in GOW3, they're 100% adding more gods because where tf where half of them when Kratos and the Titans attacked? Did Apollo and Artemis go on vactation just before Kratos attacked Rhodes? Did Demeter and Hestia die of the flu before Kratos got to them? Was Dionysus just black out dr- ok actually he probably was black out drunk somewhere during the events of GOW3.
