So, it seems Taven is mostly a cqc fighter from what I can tell. B&K can pretty easily restrain him with the Magic Wrench due to the LS diff, and if they really need to, they can make a plane and gun him down from the sky. Can Taven do anything about getting frozen by ice eggs or by freezers on their Vehicle?
 
so Banjo has a lot going for him right off the gate compared to Taven but lets go into that

Stats:
Banjo has about a 1.32x AP and Dura advantage over Taven and is gonna be far harder to put down thanks to Toon Force, Elasticity, and his healing options meaning Taven is gonna have one hell of a time putting down the Bear and Bird duo

Abilities:
Banjo has a massive arsenal on him from the Magic Wrench which will allow him to completely restrain Taven with its Telekinesis, freeze him solid, burn him, or just ouright blow him to pieces with the Ice, fire, or grenade eggs each of which comes with the HOMING cheat, turn completely invincible with golden feathers, and SBA gives him access to his Vehicles which furthers the arsenal range allowing him to create forcefields with Energy Shields, more elemental manipulation, and Replenisher which well allow him to constantly have his ammo refilled.

Banjo's biggest worries are Taven's teleportation and Time Stop but Banjo has dealt with teleporters before and even came out on top in that battle, Taven's timestop would be scary if it weren't for the fact that if Banjo can turn invincible before that happens, can likely just face tank it with his Toon Force and Elasticity, or set up a forcefield till it runs out given it only last 7 seconds

Skill and Experience
now this is a lil more in Taven's favor, he's won against a ton of mortal kombat's top fighters like Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, etc and has been alive for over 10,000 years (tho most of that was spent sleeping) he still came out of it and was able to combat with plenty of skilled opponents but thats not to say Banjo isn't skilled or experienced either, he's fought incredibly versatile and outright wacky opponents during his adventures from people who can create clones of themselves, living coal and balloons, and gruntilda herself who has tons of magic in her arsenal.

Taven is prolly more skilled but likely can't keep up with Banjo's more wacky way of fighting

overall Banjo just has way more going for him here than Taven does thanks to his survivability, faster ways to win thanks to Ice and Magic Wrench, and ways to bypass Taven's strongest option.

I'll have to look through Taven's campaign to get a full response, but I'll do what I can now.

Taven has fire projectiles (that have no ammo limitation) and a sword, hammer and other stuff too, so he has equal projectile range AND superior melee range.

Taven significantly upscales his 7-C value, it goes something like this:
7-C value = Blaze < Armageddon Shang Tsung < Deadly Alliance Shang Shung < Deception Quan Chi < Raiden = Dark Raiden < Taven

Not to mention Taven's physical lifting strength is still higher than Banjo's physical lifting strength.

Taven's defeated Scorpion and Goro, who use fire attacks, and Sub-Zero who has more potent freezing potency than the Elder Sub-Zero (who can freeze people solid and one guide says he can freeze to below Absolute Zero, though that's not on the profile), not to mention Sub-Zero's ice is a lot more versatile than Banjo's grenades.

I can't stress enough how adaptive Taven is, since he could adapt to and defeat high tier martial artists (most of whom have mastered multiple forms of martial arts, like Raiden with Jujutsu and Nan Chuan), not to mention his Konquest mode ends with him fighting up the Pyramid of Argus and defeating Blaze, gauntlet-style. He won't have trouble adapting to Banjo.

Don't undersell Taven's abilities, teleportation allows him to escape sticky-situations (like being grabbed by the machine wrench) and his time stop can be used multiple times in quick succession. He can also create fire shockwaves, which isn't much, but it's still an option.

Quick question: how well does Banjo do against sharp things?

I will confess that Banjo has better confirmed stamina, but I think we can both agree that stamina is lower on the priority list here than other things.

Banjo doesn't use his own lifting strength since he rarely fights CQC, only the Magic Wrenches LS he uses

What's to stop Taven from using Time Stop, closing the distance and getting him into a stun-lock combo? He can also do multiple time stops consecutively before the first another starts moving.

Taven's also got an ice scepter that can freeze people by touching them, do AoE shockwaves as well (his magic scepter shoots homing attacks too, but the weapon's not on his profile), and his gauntlets can enhance his striking strength.

And as you could see from the clips, Taven's no stranger to dealing with multiple threats at once.

And lastly (for now anyway), he can spam his fireballs too.

Toon Force and Elasticity means normal punches ain't really gonna do a lot to Banjo, he can be flattened, punched, slashed at, fall from great heights, etc and he can get up like it never happen and keep unharmed so Taven combing him isn't really gonna slow Banjo down.

Time Stop spam could be bad if it wasn't for the fact Banjo has numerous options that can negate the spam like invulnerability or forcefields if they're up and Taven has a limited supply of magic as you can see in the clip itself, every usage takes it down quite a bit so if Banjo just invulnerability then Taven can't really do much from there. and in that same video, Taven clearly has to spin around in order for the escape move to activate, so its not thought based like I thought so Magic Wrench TK can prevent him from moving completely iirc.

the ice manip isn't on his profile despite it being listed but Magic Wrench can rip that away from him or again Banjo can play at range of it, the shockwaves are negated by the fact Banjo can just yknow fly or stay at range, the staff weapons don't seem allat potent esp against someone like Banjo who's dealt with similar attacks before, and striking strength isn't allat important due to Toon Force and Elasticity.
And lastly (for now anyway), he can spam his fireballs too.

HONEYBACK grants Banjo passing healing so he'll be in tip-top shape in no time in conjunction with invulnerability being 40 seconds of free healing, swapping, etc, being in the air or not regular punches ain't gonna hold the bear back thanks to his advantages.

pretty often esp in the nuts and bolts, its the whole game mechanic there and its how you traverse, fight, etc in that game

he pulls it out, points it at something, and bam it happens and the Vehicles are already made per the profile so he can just pull them out whenever with the wrench so nothing stops Banjo or Kazooie from just popping it instantly and stopping Taven from moving completely.

they're things Banjo will just do in character, he can activate the shield, use golden feathers, etc whenever he pleases so it comes down to when Taven activates them

another big thing is that Banjo and Kazooie can act independently from one another, so the fight can become a 2v1 pretty quickly with each retaining their respective abilities such as Kazooie being able to spam eggs and fly well Banjo can use the Magic Wrench for Vehicles and TK'ing him into place
 
That passive healing and invulnerability does sound good, how does Banjo enable the cheat or whatever?
they're automatically enabled/apart of his movesent since you obtain them from Cheato throughout the game, only cheats from Cheato and the one you gain from Heggy are considered canon since they directly give them to Banjo as apart of the story and in the Cheato case its for every five pages that are found, Cheato will give Banjo and Kazooie one cheat which is where the double amount of feathers, eggs, and homing comes from as well.
