It is canon to book 1. Technically stated to have no relation to book 2 tho since they lack the IP license

It’s a separate continuity that doesn’t include any COI content, since they don’t have the rights to it. Pretty sure they’ve also said they’ll need to change certain abilities and things to better fit the adaptation.
