あれは、物質世界と精神世界の狭間に住まう、異界の生命体。半精神生命体であり、物質世界に紛れ込んでは、自然と受肉を果たす厄介な侵略者であった。

群れが発生しようものなら危険極まりなく、早期発見と駆除が必須の危険生物なのである。

もっとも、人型まで進化する個体は希だ。大半は物質世界に適合せず、中途半端な状態で定着するのが慣例だった。

それなのに、あのラズルという蟲型魔獣(インセクト)は、最終形態まで進化していた。シオンやランガでも厳しい相手であろうと、ディアブロは判断していたのだ。

それでもディアブロならば勝てそうなものだが、そうではないのが現状だ。つまり、ディアブロの気がかりの原因は、もっとヤバイという事になる。

それから顔を俯かせて、クックックと笑いだす。

「そうか、アイツを始末してくれたのか！ ヤツはね、私達を裏切ったのよ。私達は異界よりの侵略種族(アグレッサー)なのだけど、ルドラ陛下が我等を受け入れて下さった事で、ようやく安住の地を得たのよ。それなのに、我等に恭順の意を示さずに勝手な真似を続けるとは、度し難い愚か者だったわ」

そう説明されても、シオンにはピンッとこない。

何言ってんだコイツ、という目でミナザを見るだけである。

ただ、一つ気になる事があったので、この機会に聞いてみる事にした。

「一つ聞きますが、お前達はラズルの他にも、同胞を各地に派遣したりしていましたか？」

シオンが気になったのは、仲間であるゼギオンやアピトの事である。

もしかして知り合いだったら、ミナザを殺すのは不(ま)味(ず)いかも知れない。そう考えて、念の為に問いかけたのだった。

「異界には、数多(あまた)の種族がいるわ。たまに開く〝冥界門〟を通って、様々な侵略種族(アグレッサー)がこの世界を狙っているわよ。私達蟲魔族(インセクター)や、それに近しい性質を持つ幻獣族(クリプテッド)。それに、妖魔族(ファントム)なんてのもいるわね。私達は悪魔族(デーモン)と違って半精神生命体だから、こちらの世界でも時間をかければ具現化出来るのよ」

答えがなくても気にしないシオンだったが、ミナザは律儀に教えてくれた。

ミナザの言う〝冥界門〟とは、ディアブロ達に馴染み深い言葉で〝地獄門〟というのだが、シオンはフーンと思っただけだ。

ミナザが言うには、冥界は三大種族が覇権を争う場なのだという。並行世界もあり、そこは悪魔族(デーモン)が君臨する地獄なのだそうだ。

非常に貧しく、糧となるものがない世界。だから彼女達は、虎視眈々とこの世界を狙っているのだと言う。

遥か昔から版図を広げるべく、同胞を何度も派遣していたらしい。軍団蜂(アーミーワスプ)のような蟲型魔獣(インセクト)も、そうした侵略種族(アグレッサー)の一種なのだった。

Curse Manipulation​


Simple Curse Magic can be taught by witches who are experts in magic. Ultima has her own simple curse magic as well, and Unique Skill users have high resistance to Magic. Despite that, Lock Curse and Fallen Hypno both work on Unique Skill users, giving them one layer, and one of resistance to Ultimate Skill users, due to being still of a lower level than it. Ultima curse magic poisons even True Dragons like Velgrynd and Dino's skill could that also potentially do the same.


  • 1 layer of Curse Manipulation for Dino and similar Curse Magic users and of Resistance to it for Ultimate Skill users
  • 2 layers of it for Ultima

What it all meant, I couldn’t say. It was starting to frighten me a bit. I needed to do something, or I’d lose my mind. So I kept going through the cycle—absorb, break down, store up. But there was something odd about the process. Elimination never factored into it, somehow. Not even once. Maybe slimes didn’t need to do that. Hell, not like I’d know either way. But where was all this stuff I was ingesting going, then? My senses told me that my form hadn’t changed in any appreciable manner from when I first arrived. So what the hell?

«Received. It is being stored in the stomach of the unique skill “Predator.” Current physical space usage is less than one percent.»

What? Whoa! It speaks!

But since when was I using any skills? I thought I answered no back there.

«Received. The unique skill “Predator” is not being used. The matter being ingested into your body is set to automatically be stored in your stomach. This can be changed as needed.»

2. “Intrinsic skills” appeared to be skills that were exclusive to a certain type of monster. My Absorb, Self-Regeneration, and Dissolve skills were intrinsic to me as a slime. However, to use intrinsics, I needed to take the form of the monster in question, or else I couldn’t bust them out all the way. I could still use them in part, though, and some skills—like Sense Heat Source—seemed to work just fine either way

Since Unique Skills are above regular intrinsic skills, and Rimuru wasn't using Predator while doing it, it should go for 1 layer tbh

Alternatively, we can also use Ifrit as baseline absorption and make baseline uniques resist them, which would then still make predator 1 layer absorption since it works on other uniques
Being possessed by Ifrit saved my life. That, I could never hope to deny. If I’d been left there alone, the burns from the air raid would’ve killed me. No matter what Leon the demon lord intended for me, I had to accept the fact that I owed my life to him.

As a high-ranked flame elemental, Ifrit had powers that were far beyond anything I could have imagined. He miraculously tamed the magic teeming inside me, ready to explode, as he took over my body. Thanks to my being stabilized beforehand—if you want to phrase it that way—I managed to gain an ability. The unique skill “Deviant.”

Normally, being absorbed by Ifrit would have erased my consciousness from existence. It was Deviant that protected me. Ifrit may have held the right to rule my body, but I still managed to retain my sense of self despite the assimilation.

Later on predator merged with the intrinsic skills, thus becoming greater. It's layered cuz first Orc Lord was resisting predator, but later Rimuru succeeded
This guy wanted to consume me. That prediction came true, at least. And that meant I had an opening.

A little while back, I was a tad overoptimistic, reasoning that I should have eaten the demon lord back when I still had the chance. Right? And I was, at the core, a slime. I had exactly three intrinsic skills: Absorb, Dissolve, and Self-Regeneration. They were gone now, merged with assorted other skills, but I also had a unique skill— Predator—that was an enhanced version of them all. It suited me perfectly as a slime. Nothing could’ve worked better with my inner essence.

But I still wasn’t necessarily at an advantage. We were, for the moment, at a stalemate. He was using his healing skills to resist my Predation, and I was using Ultraspeed Regeneration to keep afloat over his Rot attack. We were eating away at each other, like an ouroboros come to life. The Great Sage was too much of a perfectionist to ever come up with something like this, but it was exactly what I wanted.

Whichever side consumed the other was the winner. The rules were so easy to understand. And getting myself into this situation in the first place was a requirement if I wanted to win. It wasn’t that I came up with the idea after the Sage’s tactics failed; I just followed my instincts, and this was what resulted, really. Instead of relying on unfamiliar, unseasoned skills, I relied on whatever my instincts willed for me, at the root, and executed what they told me. The slime’s Absorb and Dissolve skills had been merged into Predator, and so I was doing what those instincts wanted for me. I am, after all, a predator.

As for gluttony...
I had obtained my fourth unique skill from the spirit of the demon lord Geld, although I guess it got merged into Predator without so much as a peep. The Great Sage gave me the rundown after the battle:

«Report. Following the merger of the unique skill Ravenous with the unique skill Predator, the unique skill Predator has evolved into the unique skill Glutton.»

The Sage had the habit of combining skills that resembled one another a fair bit, although everything was still downwardcompatible. I analyzed this new skill, then closed my eyes.

You COULD argue layers for it considering skill evolution (like what happens with predator + intrinsic) makes it +1 layered.

So
  • Intrinsic Absorb = baseline
  • Predator = 1 layer
  • Predator + Intrinsic merge = 2 layers
  • Gluttony = Possibly 3 Layers
  • Beelzebub normal = 4 layers
  • Beelzebub after = 5 layers
  • Azathoth = should be 6 layers since there are a ton of beings that can still resist Beelzebub, like Michael, while Azathoth is the strongest skill in existence (V19 statement)

I will address the rest one by one in each post

Power Absorption

Baseline is Deviant
To give you my honest opinion, this Deviant skill was a scarily good fit with my own skill set. As a slime, I wasn’t capable of nervous sweating, but I might as well have been. A few quick experiments had already given me Control Particles and Dark Flame, and I now also had full control over electrical attacks. There were tons of monsters left for me to Predate and glean new skills from, and I planned to do that as much as I could.

And for that matter, could I use the Separate function to seize skills from my enemies?

«Received. It depends on the specific scenario. However, erasing or separating skills etched into the target’s soul is not possible.»

So it couldn’t do everything. But it’d work sometimes? I’d need to figure out exactly what was available to Separate from my target first.

Unique skills (skills rooted in the soul) have baseline Resistance

Predator normal is 1 layer

Predator merge should be 2 layer for the same reason as last time, it just generally became better + layered.

Gluttony could be 3 layers for the same reason, though I'll leave this one to your will.

Usuprer should be +1 layer above that for obvious reasons:
“I’m shocked. How did you know that? But if you noticed it, I might as well tell you—you’re right. I tried, using my Usurper unique skill.”

Usurper? You can use that to seize servant demons and spirits? Or skills themselves, even?! Sounds a lot like Glutton, then. Talk about the ultimate battle skill. And no wonder nations treated otherworlders as so special, just like Yuuki mentioned. If you’re fighting an otherworlder, you have to assume they’ve got some kind of unique on hand. The way they decide to use it serves as the key to the entire duel.

If I had relied too much on my own force without realizing what my opponent was packing, the results would have absolutely been my fault. Now I saw why Hinata never took pride in herself, constantly observing and analyzing me. It was like a textbook model battle. I could see what the difference in fighting experience in this world had done for her.

I couldn’t say exactly how superior her unique skill was, but the difference in
sheer power between its wielder and me was blatantly obvious.

No, as I understand it, we are only improving the layers blog from the old blog and adding the existential erase resistance layers section, which has recently been accepted.
