Well, if @KingTempest was continuously berated before that post that is a mitigating circumstance, but, as a staff member, please make an effort to set a good example of behaviour for our community.
That said, given how ideologically opinionated I am, combined with my rather poor attention span, memory, and social skills, I am far from perfect myself, although I try to be helpful, polite, reasonable, and to not retaliate for recurrent harsh insults from our community members.

Staff reports aren't to be handled in RvR, thats an HR thing but maybe nothing outside of a warning since KT isn't in and out of RVR and just getting heated in very expressive debate happens so just saying to chill and not let it happen again should suffice

I mean, @Rodriiogo was the one who started swinging at @KingTempest first (As in, an unprompted statement that could be seen as rude, not of the same level though) and this was the result of a fairly heated conversation on both ends. Seeing as how they both seemed to have already stopped a while ago and deescalated the situation themselves, I'm not sure either of them need to be punished (This happened yesterday, they both have commented on the thread later on without slinging insults at each other and are not continuing).

An instruction should be sufficient here. DragonZeroNova's post does show an escalation and even the first insult, and arguments can get very frustrating and stressful, prone to escalation. The fact KT has already apologised also helps.

How about we don't ignore the context? Recon1511 has been harassing me for a while now. I never even talk to him first. Not too long ago, he literally sent me a death threat (and to others as well in the past) because I said something he didn't like. He managed to avoid a ban because he claimed it was "just a joke" even though it was obviously not. The guy hates me for some reason even though I never did anything to him. The fact that he STILL attacks me for no reason is proof his previous death threats were not a joke, and he genuinely meant it.

While Recon was kind of baiting on the "Hope this means you'll leave the thread," nothing excuses a response on that level. User in question was also previously banned for encouraging suicide, which we really should be considered pretty damn generous for not having it be permanent. Still, comments about "Sucking the staff's dick" is not appropriate language. DBZ is correct that Recon saying "You should have been killed" a while back was also problematic.
Also, I'm surprised our filter did censor the part where he said "****** his mom," not that I mind the word normally, but Google, Bing, and other search engines do have a monetization policy to take note.
But still, this is a both sides are horrible situation.

I'm horrible because I'm standing up to someone who said I should be killed and harasses me for no reason? The first time he said I should be killed, I didn't even insult him or say anything back to him. But he managed to evade a ban and now he's back to insulting me for no reason. So I finally stand up for myself (since the staff never want to punish this guy) and now I'm horrible? Yeah, great logic.
Check all my other comments. I'm always friendly with people and post normal things. I only get aggressive when someone continuously harasses me.

I'm unsure if previous resolved reports can be used again unless it's meant to just show a record of bad behaviour, as this is not a new instance of death threats, but an old resolved one. For this to have relevance to the topic at hand, @Recon1511 would've likely had to issue a new death threat.

I automatically take it more seriously than most because I've had to deal with people in real life who genuinely would do these things to people, so I strongly detest comments like this. Looking at it objectively this isn't really a threat in a strict sense though.
This is a resolved report though, so this is really more of an ongoing feud.

It's relevant because Recon1511 continues to harass me even after he apologized to me for issuing the previous death threats. This shows that he did not learn from his behavior and he genuinely dislikes me. I'm supposed to just sit there and let him walk all over me?
I'm a friendly member of this community and I've been around here long before many of the staff even. I simply don't like to let people treat me like trash and simply sit there and take it.

Do you not understand? I never engage with Recon first. He is the one who always starts arguments with me. I have no clue why. I've barely interacted with him in the past, but one day he just woke up and decided to wage war against me. Don't put us on the same level.
He apologized to me in the past, but he clearly did so because he was afraid of being banned. His behavior has not changed and he still harbors animosity towards me, and who tf knows why.

Understood. I'm just a bit frustrated because Recon1511 seems to get WAY more leniency than anyone else who gets reported. He has posted multiple comments about how people should be KILLED in gruesome detail, yet he gets away with it because he claims it was just a joke. I think it's pretty clear that he holds genuine animosity to some of the people he sends death threats to.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's genuinely a psychopath IRL. The things he says simply are not normal.

It wasn't you standing up that was wrong, it was the way you said it. Plus, Random Helper said it was more so an insensitive joke rather than a legit threat. But still grossly inappropriate and I understand why you were mad at him. Nor was his more recent post quite that level. You could have just either reported him or politely request him to not quote you; the reaction just now was a very overblown way to handle it.

That's literally what I did the first time when Recon said I should be murdered. And guess what? Nothing happened. He wasn't banned, he was just "warned." And now he's harassing me again for no reason.
Let me guess, you guys are all going to warn Recon again with a stern voice to stop harassing people. He's going to apologize and pretend to change. Then he's going to start trash talking a few weeks later. This cycle will go on forever.

If he ever says the same thing again, he will be banned harshly. That much I could guarantee, and I do think he should be getting some form of punishment for baiting. Though Helper agreed that the bare minimum is staff will set you two up so you will not see each other's comments. But I want to hear thoughts from other staff members before delivering a harsher verdict.

I want him banned to be honest. This is such a reasonable request, but the staff seem hellbent on protecting Recon for some odd reason. If anyone else said the things he regularly says, they would've been banned ages ago.
He said that I should be murdered, even though I've never interacted with him in the past. He claimed that it was just a joke after being warned by multiple staff members. Then shortly after, he starts insulting me again for literally no reason. He clearly harbors animosity towards me, and it's becoming very hard to believe that he was "joking" when he sent me that initial death threat.
But I'm not expecting anything to come from this.
I've severely lost trust in this "rule violations" thread because the staff are okay with people saying literally anything, as long as it was "just a joke".

If you're not okay with it, ban him. It's as simple as that. Anything less than a ban implies you are okay with it. He clearly has not changed. He only acts remorseful when he's afraid he'll be banned. Then he goes back to insulting and baiting.
He harbors strong animosity towards me and simultaneously insulted me and sent death threats. This is an undeniable fact.
It's beyond naive to believe his claims that he was joking.

Less a ban doesn't mean they are okay, in fact an entire staff thread was made to handle your situation. I don't see any malicious reasons for staffs actively supporting Recon over any other members here.
