Incidentally, this whole fiasco has made me reconsider how consistent the similar Mach 1 speed cap from Hunter x Hunter actually is.
There's about three things in the manga that imply it, but admittedly it's nowhere near as explicit as "that speed reaches Mach 3" being said outright, and some of the feats that contradict it are so blatant that if Togashi legitimately thought that shit was subsonic I dunno what he was smoking (mainly, Uvogin straight up catching a bullet with his teeth that was fired right as the gun was pressing against his temple). Granted, most instances of the cast interacting with bullets yield high end subsonic results, aside from Cheetu who's absurdly faster than 99% of those guys anyway.

The first step would be to stablish three keys for maki
Pre-awakening Post-awakening and Post-sumo training
The sumo training key would be the one that scales to the high tiers in speed.

The explanation to Maki's speed changing after her sumo training is that she didnt just gain ability to predict movement, but rather gain the ability to perceive and take advantage of differences in temperature and air density. Maki can use this to propel herself and dodge mid-air or practically fly. So she could perfectly use this to propel herself and increase her speed too, she actually uses this to fly side by side with Naoya for a moment even.
