Idk what to tell you. It's just like that. The airburst formula is an algebraic re-arrengement of a formula for calculating the blast radius but the blast isn't the "fireball" which you measured. The blast ig is what we would call the shockwave.
"Blast effect is a volume effect. The blast wave deposits energy in the material it passes through, including air. When the blast wave passes through solid material, the energy left behind causes damage. When it passes through air it simply grows weaker. The more matter the energy travels through, the smaller the effect"
It's just too much of a hassle for me to go find a proper formula for the maximum luminous fireball radius formula since it's probably not breakaway. I only did a rough calculation from formulas I found rather quickly and cross referencing with different nuclear calculators to see if it was in the correct order of magnitude. Here's my version of the calc and though I would argue completing the circle to measure properly is sound if we are gonna treat it as a spherical shaped explosion anyways... using your own measurements would still leave it in the megaton range. I didn't really make my blog with the intent of it being used tho so.
Then again the option to wank and say the people of Virginia got converted into nuclear energy for the nuclear punch is always there.
