Wiki Page Deletion Requests Thread (New forum)

A week ago I noticed this newly-created page which had scans that violated our Editing Rules
When using evidence that includes text in other languages than English, it is mandatory to include a translation of it, a transcription of the text that's being translated, and the source of this text (like its name and specific page), with its name in its original language if the source doesn't have a localisation. This way, people can easily research this on their own and even try their own translations if they distrust the one available.
They were comic scans in a non-English language, that only included a translation, not a transcription.

I asked the page's creator to fix this up, to this response:
Hello, im translating the scans already so dont worry about it.
I initially interpreted that as meaning that they'd soon fix that up, but it seems like they were instead saying that, because they were translated, I shouldn't worry about it.

Still, I feel obligated to follow those rules, so if they won't be updated, I think we'll have to delete the page.

It seems like this problem exists in some, but not all, of the other pages for this verse

@Dragonite007 @JustANormalLemon @Oiguana2701 @Crazylatin77 @Accelerated_Evolution @Bernkastelll

Are any of you willing to replace the infringing scans? If not, I may need to go through and delete pages with them.

I'm really failing to see the problem here. Everything that needs explanation/translation is already there, and some are self-explanatory, like this one. The comics' dialogues are full of gibberish that cannot be properly translated to English, but you can still have a hint of what's going on by just looking at the scans.

The same thing is going to happen again. theres no "infringing" scans here, its just the dialogue that cannot be properly translated to english.
You need to also include a transcription of the original text, as said very plainly in the Editing Rules:

The justification for it is provided there.

If you think that shouldn't be a rule, you could try making a staff only thread to change it.

Theres no official transcription, as TDM isn't fully translated to English. As I said before, several things cannot be properly translated, and several jokes are just going to be trashed.

"Nada" can mean both "Swimming" and "Nothing". You see the problem here? This joke sounds perfectly normal in portuguese, but its just nonsense in english.

By "transcription" I mean typing the original text, so it's more easy for people to send it to others for review, to search up key words in dictionaries, or to use MTL for a quick vibe check.

I would show a quick example, but I can't easily type some of those characters.

Err... Theres literally translation in the scans. Bro... Did you even check the links or read the profiles/explanations?

I know.

As the rule says:

It's about being able to more easily check translations that others provide.

I know.

99% of TDM stuff isnt officially translated. If you're in doubt you can literally just go to a translator to see if things are correct or matching.

And we have this general rule to make that easier to do.

If you think that we shouldn't have it as a general rule, you should make a staff thread about it. You haven't really provided any reason that this series should be the sole exception to it, and I don't think it's good practice to arbitrarily exempt certain series/people from rules for no good reason.

? I only said that the franchise doesnt have an official translation, and that's just it. My point is we already have good explanations that can be checked and confirmed in like 10 seconds. You can request to delete the entire verse of the wiki if you want, but its still extremely silly.

Deleted.

i'm quite confused about the problem here, i can help fixing it but i need to know whats exactly the problems
Many scans on pages for the verse are like this.

The image contains text in another language, and below it a translation of it is provided.

However, they need to be like this.

If it contains text in another language, both a translation and a transcription of the original text should be provided.

THE MCRIB???

THE MCRIB???

Tempted to undelete tbh

What is written in the description is the translation of whats written in the image. The only difference in this one is that both the translation and texts are in the description. I really can't understand the point of this nitpick.

The abilities do sound more like game mechanics being listed as outright powers, also. No published pages is against the rules, but I think we'd rule against this verse outright even if they were published properly.

I'll send a message to the user, since he doesn't have a forum account, to investigate.

Deleted them and left warnings.

I would delete but I’m on mobile RIP

Incorrect formatting + the calc used isn't accepted and I don't think turning a human into a pile of blood is the same as vaporizing them (although I don't doubt its 9-A)
