Hazbin Hotel Discussion Thread

Genuinely as long as these last two episodes don't drop the ball on him he may be vivzie's best character and it wouldn't even be close.
To be fair, what competition is there for that?
Fizz and Asmodeus, uh... Husk, Pentious uh...

Yeah I'm out of competition. Everyone else is genuinely white noise or is actively bad or underutilized or had their character assassinated.

All of Vox's "aura" is entirely manufactured. He's the textbook definition of an Astroturf.

We see that when the Angels show up, he's terrified, he loses all his aura and the second he realises "Oh, they're not gonna fight me" he immediately starts spinning it and taunting them.

He is a definitionally ***** character being pulled along by his vices and insecurity. Vox is a pretender to power. He pretends all he has until people think he deserves it. He pretends he's like Alastor, he pretends he's like Lucifer and pretends he can be God.

But he's like Adam. He's a small man with big delusions of grandeur.

Striker would've been one if he kept his vibe from his first appearance lowkey. His new direction isn't bad persay but every other character in Helluva went down the same direction which made him disappointing compared to his first appearance.

He was aware of the Angels coming and their motives due to Angel Dust spilling the details. He was acting scared because, just like Lucifer, he's pretending that they are trying to go against the people's wishes. A lot easier to do that if the idea that they are trying to assassinate him is in their heads

Also, I dont think any of that is a discredit for his aura. Piccolo is a poster boy for that stuff and he doesn't succeed nearly as much.

Yeah, that's kind of why he's great, he's the most human character in this entire damn show.

There are cracks in the tough guy businessperson persona (See him being scared of the Angel's arrival[Though like said above it was an act] or him genuinely laughing when Alastor offers to make a deal with him), he's intelligent without being bullshit, and he does make mistakes.

He's not Charlie "Sorry for ******* up again" Morningstar, he's not "I have the master plan and be scared of how spooky and mysterious I am" Alastor, and he's not a complete parody meme festival like Adam or Lucifer. He's got personality, motivations, fears, insecurities, an actual functioning ******* backstory, and genuine charisma to back things up... while still being human.

Basically, he's lightning in a bottle: The character.

Which works for him. His entire everything is manufactured to make himself look more powerful than he actually is so he can feel as powerful as he did over a century ago. He's a weak man who's got a way with words to make more powerful people do what he wants.

A cult leader with a god complex who lost everything when he went to hell and is feeling the withdrawals, and finally seeing a way to get that kick he had.

Erm, aktually, Vox died in the 1950s, he can't be over like 80
what even is the year in Hazbin Hotel? It kinda comes across he's been in hell for at least 100 years.

He was rejected by Al 70 years ago, and was gaining power for years prior to that. I doubt he got to where he's at in 30 years.

One of my favorite little details of how he's not a perfect aura farmer is at the beginning of Vox Populi. He points his finger up at the same time lightning strikes causing him to genuinely wonder for a second if he did that.

Since, while he did know Lucifer was heading over, bro DID NOT expect him to come bringing literal thunder

We have no idea, we only have death dates.

Frankly chances are he can probably be over a century old... or this is Vivzie forgetting that the reader will always be better at math than the author and putting in numbers where she shouldn't and it's like 2040 in Hazbin RN

Speaking of Vox, i hope we get a better png of him. his current one is kinda dog water.

He's always hitting this expression (and it looks better than the png we have of him) so it's crazy his reference png doesn't have this one.

(also dude's rocking that pose here)

Low Multi Hazbin Hotel cosmology confirmed???
Might be 2-B or even 2-A since Sera says they're locking off Heaven from "Other realms" plural, and we know Winners can't go to Hell and Sinners can't go to Heaven, so there must be more realms other than Heaven, Hell and possibly Purgatory.

I found it, she appears when Overlords are mentioned (Right corner)

It was stated he was gonna be an Overlord if Cherri and Angel didn’t stop him

A bit late, but I'm not sure if this part of the pilot should be taken into consideration.

Because in that same image, Vagasso appears, even though he's currently an Ars Goetia and not a sinner/overlord.

Tbf it says “most powerful evils”, not just Overlords so…

Why do y’all think Vox didn’t even try Rosie?
Maybe he knows her relationship with Alastor. Maybe not the fact that they have a deal but that they're close. Most of the other overlords are pretty neutral to antagonistic towards one another so it's easy to get them but for Rosie who, from the outside, seems to be a close friend of Alastor's it probably wouldn't be worth it to try to explain why Alastor is being tied up and has a smear campaign going on about him.

There's also the fact Vox uh, has a flatscreen TV for a head.

If he steps a foot in that town he's GOING to be attacked by every denizen within lol

Why do y’all think Vox didn’t even try Rosie?
It's possible he knows something about her that would immediately make talking to her dangerous.

We've seen he'll talk to people he doesn't like and who have a good relationship with Alastor (Zestial) so it's not her relationship with Alastor.

It's entirely possible that there's more to Rosie than we know even now after the reveal of his deal.

During Season 1, he was never called the Strongest Sinner and people kept insisting Zestial was stronger due to being older and Alastor looking a lil spooked (he clearly wasn’t intimidated but whatever). Now we got the Strongest Sinner statement FINALLY
i mean, prior to the statement it was a fair assumption because zestial was around when Alastor purged all the previous overlords. He'd have to be comparable if not superior for Alastor if Alastor couldn't get rid of him/didn't try

Now we know they just friends.

So i know Orange is intending to upgrade sinner's regeneration based off Pentious dying in the Pilot, but wouldn't that mean everyone who isn't Alastor level is getting downgraded? Since the whole 8-B/8-A scaling is from full power alastor?

They probably all will just scale to this.

to 8-A normally yeah

Not that it REALLY matters, since... y'know... we have no confirmation on how damaged Pentious was from that.
