Unpopular Opinions and (Friendly) Rant thread

i watched tmnt mutant mayhem yesterday
7/10
it was kind of fun i liked how they really leaned in on the aspect of them being incredibly sheltered teens who mostly get their education off the internet and from splinter's lessons
fight choreography was good sometimes
I didn't care for superfly that much although he did have the best line in the movie (here)
uhh
the designs for some of them are horrible, not the tmnt (i weirdly like them), splinter or april but a lot of the other characters look like trash
mostly the humans though

I think once I'm done with my current revision for Godzilla I'll step back and finally go back to retirement. I'm seeing some crazy tier 1 revisions happening on the horizon and honestly I don't wanna be there for that shitshow.

Idk I'm stuck on the Dongbaek fight in Canto 4
Oh, the terrorist flower umbrella girl?
Yeah ngl, once you get the hang of her mechanics battle is easy.
...Canto 4 in itself is weirdly easy... along with everthing in Canto 5 Pre-Ricardo.

Now there is only one Japanese translation helper.
My agents have already planted false evidence that will result in all upcoming JP translators to be banned on the spot from assumptions that they've been using machine translation websites for help. Billions of scans will remain untranslated, glory to western media.

I'm a dumbass, just discovered Vivziepop is only the executive producer for the Homestuck adaptation, not a writer. There's still hope for it after all. My opinions are still mixed regarding it, as on the one hand experiencing Homestuck through its weird web-comic/video game/flash animation format is really unique and there's nothing quite like it, so animating the story would ruin the cool vibes that it had. On the other, reading it is a ******* slog and no living being today wants to read web-comics anymore so this is the only way to introduce more people to it.
update: this shit is so ass im at a loss for words 🥀

**** man!
Why the hell can't i muster up energy to finish these damn sandboxes!?
It's like, only link scans to the ******* words.

I find strong characters kind of interesting, in that they can be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it's cool having a line-up of characters to debate with, and for them to win. But then, sometimes there are characters you want to make a match-up with, but can't because of how strong they are.

One of the best examples, IMO, is characters with blitz-level techniques. Oftentimes fights are won with sheer hax and strength; however, I feel like speed has slightly been forgotten in the larger power-scaling community, and sometimes seemingly even here. Usually you're either a speedster or already scaled fast, so it doesn't matter, etc. But in a speed equal fight, or if both characters bases are comparable, then when a character has several blitz-level techniques, they are truly almost unmatched if they have a way to put down the opponent.

In particular, I know a character who is extremely skilled with alright abilities for the most part, but what's treated in-verse as a casually high-end technique everyone should know becomes practically unbeatable outside the verse. They have like half a dozen techniques where the base speed is blitzed by the first technique, the second technique blitzes the first, etc, with the implication that they are so exponential that the final technique means your character went from Subsonic+ to Relativistic+. (No joke: at base the character is moving faster than the eye, but then with the final technique they move so fast their shadows fall behind by a decent margin and perform “the impossible.”)

So, you have ideas of who you want to put your character up against, and while the opponent can maybe increase their speed to near-blitz levels via something like AD, your character’s first casual technique is already beyond that. Not to mention when the series says that the higher-end techniques supposedly drain energy instantly, yet they have mastered energy control so well they are literally described as infinitesimally small. (Basically, what the author wanted to make as a drawback, they ended up forgetting about in retrospect, due to the character’s otherworldly energy conservation.)

I CAST 3000 KANJI YOU NEED TO REMEMBER TO BE COMPETENT
I thought writing higarana out would be painful enough but this language is straight up evil if you're learning to type it out too, I feel bad for anyone with poor eyesight trying to learn this shit.

Learning japanese should be considered self-mutilation at this point, kanji is a ******* writing system and the fact that japan has basically 3 of them, you just feel bad for the kiddies who have to learn them.
I took it in high school, and yeah it's pain. what they teach in schools (outside of japan) is what their 5 year olds are learning in kindergarten

Now i think i can beat him!!
Got Middle Sinclair, Middle Meursault, Tidal Elegy, Firefist Gregor, and alotta of other guys with Blunt and Level 40!
Gonna update later.
You should get him to the first stagger threashold before the first 4 turns pass. Also don't try to take out the little brothers since that'll make him stronger

There are no bad IDs, just ones that are infinitly better. Ryoshu especially has incredible IDs for multiple team comps that playing anything else is subpar. Like only the Pierre ID isnt worlds apart from LLCB, but if you like the ID then go for it. There is literally no downside in playing with weaker IDs.
