MCU Phase 5 General Discussion Thread

My memory of the episode is a bit foggy but iirc pretty much every character can hurt Ultron, which makes no sense unless the spell boosts AP as the Guardians range from Tier 9 to Tier 6 in their base forms. The spell is activated before they first encounter him, so if it boosts AP there shouldn’t be any inconsistencies. Ultron also doesn’t have the Soul Stone for most of the fight so he’s slightly weakened.
Eh, Carol was able to harm him as well

He was aura farming holding back hard there. I think it’s less “he has to turn the stones on” and more “he can turn the stones off”, if that makes sense. He’s always shown with at least Tier 5 AP and can take hits from other characters that scale to those feats.

Avengers Doomsday crew merch was leaked; it shows some character designs for the upcoming film.

So...Marvel Zombies huh?

Slight spoilers but
They confirmed Captain Marvel and Ikarus are equally matched?

The scaling in that show is so inconsistent I’d take it with a grain of salt. Still out of everything that part of the show is pretty believable.

For those who already watched Marvel Zombies
[ISPOILER]man, they ******* ruin Thor once again, he throwing the Stormbreaker while running in a straight like to face Thanos, and later getting it completely desintegrated is a n insult to everything he did in IWm[/ISPOILER]

Though never openly confirmed, it's believed the Marvel Animation team just love killing off main characters that were central to earlier phases like how Iron-Man kept dying in What If...? S1 or Thanos consistently being a jobber throughout What if...? Thor was just the next victim in Marvel zombies. Ofc it's all speculation but there might be some truth to it.

Also missed opportunity to have zombie versions of Black Widow and Bucky.

don't know if you missed or haven't watched that part yet but Thor didn't die there, he was burned and damaged but he survived, he was later fighting Infinity Hulk as a zombie

I was talking about the Stormnreaker. It got completely obliterated by a blast from the Power Stone, even tho in IW it was shown to be able to resist an attack from the 6 of them.

Marvel Zombies spoilers

Marvel Zombies was pretty bad. I was assuming it would be a waste of time and I was right. Moon Knight Blade was the only cool part and another reminder that:

    1. Blade will never get a movie in the MCU and this is the most we're gonna get
    2. Mahershala Ali keeps getting robbed of longer term MCU roles (see Luke Cage for further proof, though there was at least outside projects getting in the way of that one rather than Marvel being incapable of committing to something)

Most of the show is just dragging its feet to get to anything interesting. The fight scenes are okay? I guess? They definitely favoured shock value here though and I am not a fan of it. Shocking violence needs to have a purpose in the story (the surgery scene from Prometheus is a great example of this). Marvel Zombies just rides off what the comic version did, which was "this ain't your dad's Marvel...we have childhood icons eating each other while covered in their friends and family's blood..."

Once again, since I'm obsessed with Spider-Man, I gotta talk about how Marvel is allergic to giving him more attention. I don't care if YFNS is some weird MCU variant universe, it's not the Spider-Man we're following nor is it the one I personally care about (it's also a show that to me is mostly a "we got hype moments and aura" fest)

Infinity Hulk is a hilarious let down. I'm not upset that he isn't some Infinity Ultron, overpowered battle boarder bait character. I just expected a bit more from a version of Hulk that absorbed the escaping energy of the Infinity Stones. All he does is look cool and use air pressure punches. I'm a bit confused on why Zombie Wanda, who frankly can do much more than she reasonably should be able to in her state, ever struggled with him if military boat turrets were bringing this man to his knees

Zombie Wanda as a returning villain does make some sense, but...why is she like this? MoM Wanda is obviously in the wrong, but you can at least understand why she's doing what she is and why after Endgame and WandaVision, she's gone down this path. Again, she's in the wrong, but you get why she's like this. Zombie Wanda's methods for trying to reshape reality are really bizarre

Why is she trying to make everyone zombies? I don't even think that's the best way for her to get the Infinity Power from Infinity Hulk. She wants to raise an army to overcome Infinity Hulk, but even the zombified Asgardians aren't really all that impressive. Did I miss something when watching this? Wanda might be a crash out, but if she's gained enough clarity to not act like a flesh hungry monster, wouldn't she go about her mission in a more pragmatic, albeit misguided, way? Maybe I'm just giving her capabilities as a strategist too much credit. Like at this point, with what she's capable of with her abilities, I just feel like she's going about this in an overcomplicated way. She recreates STORMBREAKER, which got completely disintegrated without her knowledge. She can seemingly just call in giant zombies (I doubt most of them come from the haywire Pym Particles from five years prior to the events of the show). She's just spawning in whatever weapons she wants on a whim and has control over a ton of Scions. I just don't feel like the whole "make everyone zombies and beat up Hulk" is an approach that I can buy here

It should be in season 2 episode 4, where Jessica says of Alisa "This chick is twice my strength." Applying this multiplier statement would put Alisa as being at least 9-A+ under existing scaling, though if my current 9-A CRT goes through, it would just barely put her at 8-C.

In Luke Cage season 2, episode 12, Tilda states that the Nightshade supershot she provides to Bushmaster could double his strength, which would mean that he would be up to High 8-C with increased Nightshade doses.

Taking into account the newer (lower) ratings...

Alisa Jones would be "At least Small Building level+", upscaling 0.1828 tons of TNT

Increased Dosage Bushmaster would be "Building level+" at 1.828 tons of TNT

Well also, this Phase 5 thread was left open despite there now being a Phase 6 thread.

For the record, I'd still watch a second season of Marvel Zombies if they release one in the future.

So has anybody seen the trailers for this TV series yet? I think that it seems fun and inventive. 🙏🙂

Also, should we rename this thread to "MCU General Discussion Thread"? I think that the MCU has entered phase 6 now.
