Chainsaw Man Devils Rework REWORK (+ Other Stuff)

Okay, it's not exactly a rework but I just wanted to added some changes to the Devil / Hybrid Physiology page. When the changes are applied, it should look like in:

Primal Fears Addition​

There's probably enough for Primal Fears to get their own subsection from the recent arcs so here everything they get in:

Hybrid Changes​

They get this added to their resistances:

• Limited Power Mimicry (Despite the Mannequin Devil's ability to copy the abilities of whoever it touches, it could not perfectly replicate Quanxi's abilities; with the Mannequin Devil even stating that due to her "strange" physiology, her body was "hard to use")

Additionally, Enhanced Senses (at least for sensing Primal Fears) shouldn't carry over to Hybrids as they haven't shown any evidence of possessing them plus it would help explain why Quanxi & Denji didn't get affected by the Darkness Devil's fear hax in Hell like the other humans (the humans only started to become fearful/panicky seeing the Fiends & Angle Devil freaking out).

Originally this thread was just going to be about the above but since CSM is a "controversial verse", might as well do some extra ability additions here for characters not named Asa / Yoru or "Kiga":

Pochita​

• Self-Sustenance (Type 1 & 3; Able to survive and move even out of orbit. Moreover, shown to be able to perceive the outside world even while Denji is completely unconscious)

Although, I'm not quite sure if this should be listed as "Unconventional" or not. Perhaps Extrasensory Perception as per That_moron2's suggestion.

Barem Bridge​

• Social Influencing (As the second in-command of the Chainsaw Man Church, Barem is capable manipulator, using his charisma and interpersonal cunning to help convince many high schoolers into the cult-like ideology of the Chainsaw Man Church and forming contracts with the "Justice Devil". He's manipulated Haruka Iseumi into becoming the spokesperson of the Chainsaw Man Church under the pretense of acting for the good of the world, coerced the other Weapon Devils into murdering innocents as a "message from God", and manipulated a crowd into killing Nayuta; framing the situation to appear as though she had compelled him to shoot himself)
• Stealth Mastery (Managed to evade all of Public Safety Comission's security without getting spotted to get up close and talk with Denji)
• Resistance to Mind Manipulation (Was unable to be controlled by Nayuta, the reincarnation of the Control Devil)

Fake Chainsaw Man​

• Multiple Selves (Type 1 & 3; Shares his body with the Fire Devil; who was under the guise as the Justice Devil)
  • Limited Information Analysis (The Fire Devil is able to provide him with the location and the identity of certain devils even if they may look like normal people)
• Summoning (Able to control and summon "Pseudo-Chainsaw Devils" to his location in order to block attacks or absorb into himself for further power and replacement limbs)

Akane Sawatari​

• Limited Fear Manipulation (Her presence was deemed "scary" enough that the Ghost Devil refused to come out and attack her without Himeno choosing sacrificing her entire body)

Santa Claus​

• Weapon Mastery (Shown to possess skill with hunting, tracking and use of a bow to an extent to mentor others such as Tolka to hit living targets like foxes)

Yoshida​

He gets a "Tranquilizer Needle" added for Optional Equipment and thus this in under an "with Optional Equipment" tabber:

• Sleep Manipulation (Via needle with sleeping fluid)

EDIT 2: Recently it's been confirmed that the Octupus Devil changes size based on what's being sacrified to it so it should get Size Manipulation on its page as well.

Falling Devil​

They should get Fusionism added with what's already been written for this:

• Possession & Biological Manipulation (She can possess corpses, altering their shape and fusing them together to create a body for herself)

Aging Devil​

Likewise, they should get Clairvoyance added with what's already been written for this:

• Portal Creation (They are able to manifest mirrors that connect both Earth and Hell, allowing them to see through these mirrors ...)

Additionally, I think there should be a note on their page specifying that their Transmutation isn't an ability directly caused by them but rather an unexplained phenomenon that just happens after thousands of years in the Chainsaw Man Universe.

Edit: Power​

This is something I've forgotten to put in the initial post but Power should get Regeneration (Up to Low-High) with Blood added with what's already been written for their immortality type 6 already on their page, considering she regenerated from ounces of blood in Denji's bloodstream. However, this shouldn't be applicable on the General Devil Page and only for Power as no other devil has shown to be able to survive what Power had been reduced to and she likely was able to survive as blood due to well... being the Blood Devil/Fiend. Additionally, a note should be placed that her regeneration up to that peak shouldn't really be combat-applicable considering she had to be awakened by Pochita in order to survive.

Makima Fear Aura (Possibly)​

Okay, so this is something I've been sitting on for literal years. Ever since I first reworked Makima's profile back at the start of 2024, I thought about this addition but decided against it in the end. So in the manga it's a recurring thing that Power is absolutely scared of Makima in spite of her usual boastful and arrogant demeanor although it's never properly explained why. However, in the LN, we get interesting descriptions of Makima from the perspective of Power, describing her with:

She wielded an inexhaustible air of authority, had eyes that seemed to pin anything caught in her gaze, and exuded a strange chill that froze one to the bone. In spite of herself, Power always tensed up in Makima's presence.

"May I get a word in?" Makima purred. Power reflexively sat straightened up.

However, the issue is that no one else in the series seems to get affected like this from Makima which was why I never put it on her profile. But it's been on my mind for a quite a while and I thought I might as well bring this info to light. Who knows maybe someone else can make up a reason for this on her page.

Well done as always. I have no qualms with the new additions, but Power's fear of Makima might be a result of Conquest, otherwise Makima would be passively doing this to everyone around her, which we clearly see is not the case. Every other addition seems fine to me, at the very least.

Pochita did not survive in space long as he promptly threw his heart back down (it's also hard to tell whether he was just in the upper atmosphere or vacuum), and Makima questioned how long he could hold his breath. This doesn't seem enough for Self-Sustenance. Pochita also having a conversation with Denji inside Denji's mind doesn't mean he can operate indefinitely without rest.

Most of these seem to be pretty good, however im not sure about the self sustenance for Pochita and Makimas limited fear hax

Pochitas as stated by damage hasnt really stayed in space that long to where I could see it, he mainly got there and threw his heart back to get back to earth.

I don't think Makima should warrant fear hax because one person fears her alot as Im pretty sure you need alot or most of the verse to have that fear with you which isnt present as nobody outside of Power has this kind of feeling (Alongside just general statements saying she does but there arent statements for fear hax in CSM as a passive thing Iirc).

But other than those two the rest seems reasonable so I agree

There's a reason why I asked about whether it should be "Unconventional" or not as I’m not sure how this ability is actually indexed on the wiki. The closest I could think of was this as it's very different from and not just simply telepathic communication.

Completely fair. I didn't consider this but I will say that I think it's more narratively implied it's a byproduct of their aging ability but I don't think it's worth arguing.

The Ghost Devil is in a supernatural-binding Contract with Himeno to have their right hand be used whenever Himeno wants to. They have no reason to not attack Akane unless of something else considering the Ghost Devil is perfectly fine with attacking far more dangerous looking beings with no hesitation.

Doesn't really make sense for it to refuse when contracted, but suddenly be able when contracted again when she offers her body. The only change was the incentive, so it seems more like apprehension.

Whatever "apprehension" is still caused by Akane's presence. The fact that it outright refused to attack suggests her presence invoked a fear response strong enough to override the Ghost Devil’s baseline contractual compliance.

Himeno giving up her body also isn't simply "incentive" as it allowed the Ghost Devil to access it's own full power, likely giving it confidence against Akane enough to bypass the initial fear response. It should be noted neither of them knew Akane even existed beforehand nor did Akane use any activated abilities yet; she just showed up so this isn't some kind of Social Influencing kind of thing.

1. Himeno has a supernatural-binding contract with the Ghost Devil, allowing her to only use a small portion of it's power to her command. Breaking a contract means the risk of death on the the party that breaks the contract.

No, not really. Neither Aki or Himeno know her and even her own subordinates have shown to talk back to her.

And she doesn't show her abilities until later on.
