On my second watch. Was that Ultraman speaking as the Hammer of Boravia? I ask because he seemed incapable of speaking later on.

Man what were they doing with Nicholas Hoult in the X-Men movies? Because they never let him cook like this. That scream of rage he let out when he found out that Superman escaped the pocket universe was straight up feral. I also weirdly really like how he says "idiot". It feels so visceral and hateful.

Superhero Fatigue (this is true for nearly every superhero film atm, we seeing massive decline in many markets where they use to be good, even those that are received well, exceptions are like these massive crossover films with pre established characters)
looking back at previous films, superman hasnt ever been a juggernaut in OS and is prob perceived as very american for good or bad
the height of superman's film popularity was the 80's which is where a lot of international markets were either non existent or very small so no modern cultural footprint in those countries to give it pre establish hype.
though i believe 1 and 2 are your main reasons because outside of Asia the film has stabilized in nearly every other region with really strong holds which indicates good word of mouth, the issue is the opening weekends were so low that even with word of mouth its an uphill battle to gross all that much until F4 arrives. but it also does prove that people were reluctant to watch it initially.

More than Edi Gathegi got to do in that series. I'm glad Mr. Terrific got to be a highlight, because Darwin was such a wasted character...
Yeah, it did seem like she only knocked back Superman when he was caught off guard, and even Krypto easily knocked her down and left a gash in her face. She's still physically stronger than Terrific though, seeing as she immediately knocked him out by tackling him out of the sky. Her nanite sheaths at least gave both Krypto and Superman issues (the one used on the latter even withstood several strikes from Ultraman), and Lex did think that the sheath would protect Superman from his impact with the ground, so I'm not sure if that would indicate higher durability scaling for that specific application of the nanites.

I really hope this movie ends up as a success, I absolutely want more of this, both this version of the character and this tone overall. Fantastic Four is gonna make it tough, but I'm gonna choose to have faith, I know it can pull through. And honestly, word of mouth helping out Superman like this feels just so appropriate.

I'm surprised we're considering the flight from Metropolis to Antartica an AP feat, I thought Superman was flying from Metropolis to his Fortress to heal from damage? Do we know for sure that the Hammer punched Clark that distance or he just flew?

Lex knew that Superman had a fortress in Antarctica though and was trying to figure out where it was by tracking where Superman went through the Engineer. Even if Ultraman didn’t punch him there (which I think might be true) that wouldn’t be a good argument.

The bright side is that once Blue Beetle's animated series confirms Blue Beetle's continuity to the DCU, Superman can concretely upscale Jaime's 8-B shockwave.

No, Lex mentions to the DoD that there were rumors of the base existing in the Antarctic before he discovered it, he simply found out where it was through following Supes.

So his plan was to punch Superman to the Fortress hoping he would land close enough to the Fortress to confirm the location? I mean, I guess? That'd be the least insane part of his plan in the movie, to be honest.

Hm. I'm still not super sure I buy into that, but I also don't really think it's a huge deal. If it makes my favorite Superman stronger, then I can't complain too much. Besides I'm almost certain he'll get something better relatively quickly, anyway. Especially since he's got the Gojo-type treatment of being stated to be above everyone else that currently exists.

I heard about his super breath being compared to a localized typhoon (in the prequel junior novel), whether than means the breath was moving the speed of typhoon winds or literally has the equivalent power of a typhoon, it's still worth considering. If the latter, then that could bump Clark up to 8-A.

If the Engineer doesn't get scaled to Superman's strength, she might be able to get "at most 9-A" durability for surviving her own kinetic energy from atmosphere re-entry.
