Powerscaling son or shipping daughter?

powerscaling son is basically a normal son honestly, like tell me a children that was super involved with making his favorites wins and you'll probably pull out a lot of kids down towards that line

now SHIPPERS? they're the one with actual brain damage
 
I'm kinda both, but I'd take Powerscaling son over shipping daughter any day of the week.

Normal shippers/powerscalers aren't really that bad, just mostly doing their thing. Powerscaling son could give me peak slander pics tho, so that's a plus.

However, till now, I haven't seen a single powerscaler dox/threaten authors like some Shippers do. Those people are genuinely insane.
 
Powerscaling comes with debating and rhetorical skills a lot of the time. + Powerscalers tend to evaluate the fiction they consume on a deeper level which is generally good. I'd say it's a bit more productive than shipping.

Shipping characters as a hobby is just odd to me, idk. Like why are you obsessed with theoretical romance between fictional characters and why is that your whole personality. Sometimes it gets hella degenerate or even downright criminal too.

Easy answer for me
 
I will choose the one that will get a productive job and give me grandchildren first.
 
It's whatever to me, so long as it doesn't let them consume their lives both hobbies are equal to me.

Not the author getting harassed, but some guy on Tieba got doxxed (and swatted I think) because he's uploading things like data books and literal scripts for a series that's being used to upgrade characters and they think he's faking all of them

The common powerscaler tho is worse than just someone wanting his favorite character to win, still would be disappointing seeing them debating back and forth over it and acting insanely immature against someone

Truth, tho the very bad are like maybe 40%, the rest are more... Seeking attention and validation through fictional characters as if they were real or are the characters

Which isn't too bad but can easily lead to many problems
 
Shippers are actually pretty cool (except for Twitter, that place is a hellhole).

Powerscalers have gotten worse in the last few years because of tiktok influence
 
I'm ok with both, but I'd choose powerscaling son since I'm powerscaler myself
 
The worst powerscaling stuff seems to be all the rage surrounding things like Goku vs Superman. Lots of rage comments aimed at people like Ben Singer. Some powerscalers will lie and threaten, so it can get pretty bad. Remember some people have harassed the VSBW staff in some pretty egregious ways.

While shipping is a more mainstream hobby, with far more people doing it, there are definitely extreme cases, and quite a few of them. The worst stuff with shippers frequently includes stories such as IchiRuki shippers harassing and threatening Tite Kubo, DekuBaku shippers harassing and attempting to intimidate MHA's author, BumbleBee shippers harassing (and I think doxing) everyone who doesn't agree with them, and many more like that. The Twilight fangirls were often fighting each other over who was "the best" between Jacob and Edward (given they share the views of the author, that might be a unique case). Arguably the crowning moment however is when ReyLos were threatening Adam Driver and his wife, culminating when a woman came up to Adam Driver's wife and handed her an eerily accurate wood carving of their pet dog.

In short, I'd probably say shippers are crazier.

honestly this question would be insane if its deadass a powerscaling son thats based on TikTok vs a Shipping daughter thats based on Twitter

out of the two evils which one do you pick as the lesser evil?
 
Just want to say the rise of hating power scaling as a concept on twitter is annoying me. Like all stories need a since of power and scale. If you are writing for a human you need to make sure you keep them human. Power is a big decider of how you interact with the world whether if you use it for good, bad, or anything. Like how does a character react to a locked door, if they are strong enough to break it that changes the scenario versus if they can’t. And that applies to everything. I think people understate that.

Yee but at the same time, there are more people that use powerscaling differently, making their fav character win and being childish about it

But I see what you mean, both just lack understanding and can be annoying
 
Yeah like the worst of power scaling is annoying, but like how often are people in the community really like that for that to be the default assumption of the experience? The only thing I can think of is one piece and dragon ball. Which granted dragon ball probably being a big reason it’s meme’d in modern audiences. But I mean like, the scale of power in story is actually a big thing since the story is about physical improvement

You think only those two? I would say bleach and naruto are way more popular when it comes to those powerscaling, especially crossverse

One piece powerscaling is just... Who stronger than who in the verse, Dragon ball is mostly Goku vs everyone else lol

I think literally every powerscaling community have like 80% those types of powerscalers not gonna lie, its legit everywhere
 
I have never really seen the bleach power scaling cringe in the wild, but fair with Naruto.

IIRC somebody got doxed and sent death threats in the Death Battle community because of Chucky vs Slappy. (Forgot why, I just remembered it had something to do with the matchup).
