Superman (2025) Movie Spoiler Discussion Thread

I interpreted it as Superman contributing the majority of the power in the combined attack, which would be consistent with how he's been portrayed compared to the others.

Going by the page it happened on:

  • Superman alone releases the concentrated power of a typhoon (8-A) initially
  • The combined attack is compared to a "tornado (High 8-C to 8-B), a hurricane (8-A), and an electrical storm (Lightning bolts should be like 8-C)"
  • So I view it as Superman being 8-A (hurricanes and typhoons are the same), Mr. Terrific possibly having 8-C T-Spheres, assuming they are comparable to lightning in terms of power output, and thus Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl each scaling to half the "tornado" part (8-C to High 8-C+ each)
hmm seems this kind of logic might not work here even though the tiers fit, I asked about it to another cgm

l feel like my biggest issue with the movie is that Superman did good for his space parents he never met rather than the Kent’s and only learnt to do good from them in his 30s in a single conversation. He doesn’t know his biological family, he only knows a single line. An inspiring one, but I feel the Kent’s should matter far more. If you want the biological ones to matter more, then I would have them more involved in his life.
I took it more as something akin to Guardians 2 with Yondu and Starlord. The Kents made Clark who he is, even if he didn't fully realize it at first. The message in this case would be akin to Starlord meeting his biological father. I think he was always doing good because of what he learned from them. Or rather, as John put it, they gave him the tools to become who he wanted to be.

Would dividing it evenly as previously brought up be considered more acceptable, or will different feats need to be found for scaling the Justice Gang?

It uses phrases like "as though a typhoon", "like a tornado", so I think these are similes

His super breath could push him out of the black hole when his flight couldn't, so maybe we could scale it above the energy he generates when flying? Can't remember how weakened his flight was in that scene

We may just have to strick to the current stuff for now with metallo scaling
Well, I guess that leaves Metamorpho's miniature sun as the next feat to look into that could potentially upgrade Superman depending on the results it gets.

I mean, he was heavily weakened in general by that point, considering Raptors were giving him trouble shortly beforehand, and he was struggling to walk by the time he was out of the pocket universe...

my problem with Man of Steel's action is that it's so long and so destructive. it's almost half an hour of Superman and Zod obliterating Metropolis
A valid criticism, although I enjoyed the action. It feels like Superman didn't even try to move the fight anywhere else

I can finally say Deku is stronger than (one specific version of) Superman.
He's stronger than like a solid 80% of them already, most Superman are tier 8 and 7, we have a 9-A Superman too lol

So, in regards to characters who need profiles:
  • Superman
  • Lex Luthor
  • Ultraman
  • The Engineer
  • The Justice Gang (team profile)
    • Mister Terrific
    • Guy Gardner
    • Hawkgirl
  • Metamorpho
  • Krypto
  • Metallo
  • The Kaiju (maybe?)
Am I missing anyone?
Lois Lane

Sugar Resistance

I think our current scaling chain would be something like this
3-As: Luthor with technology (recreated the Big Bang)
Whatever tier Metamorpho's creation is: Metamorpho (created a miniature sun)
8-Bs: Ultraman>Superman (Got knocked around the globe)>~Kaiju's Durability/Krypto
8-Cs: Amped Metallo (Threw a metal sphere)>Justice Gang>Kaiju Fire Breath (This large)>Kaiju A.P (Via size)

  • Superman
  • Lex Luthor
  • Ultraman
  • The Engineer
  • The Justice Gang (team profile)
    • Mister Terrific
    • Guy Gardner
    • Hawkgirl
  • Metamorpho
  • Krypto
  • Metallo
  • The Kaiju (maybe?
that should about cover it i believe unless we want to add Superman as optional to the Justice Gang since they have fought together several times in the past also a second justice gang key with metamorpho

Am I missing anyone?
I don't recall if the raptors (the guys in armor who work for Lex) have any feats beyond anti-matter resistance, but Mr. Terrific's Striking Strength would probably scale off of them, so I think they could potentially get a profile

Eh, I don’t think it’d be necessary to give them their own profiles. Any feats they might have could just be mentioned on Mister Terrific’s profile.

I don't remember this in the movie at all. Surprised bb was even introduced in this universe at all
Blue Beetle movie was like 2022 or 23 but its Light canon to the DCU that will continue in a canon animated series from where the movie left off

Oh wait how are they connected? I figured the bb movie is just connected to the previous movie runs not overall?

The overall plot of the blue beetle movie is canon to the DCU (only the overall plot is canon so its not entirely 1:1 since all the finer details won't likely be canon since it has to fit within the DCU canon)

Man of Steel does so many things wrong to me, it's kind of hilarious. still don't see how it has such a rabid fanbase to this day
Man of Steel fan here, I'm not going to say the movie is perfect but what it does goes is stellar to me. Cavill was awesome as Superman, the music is fantastic, the cast is amazing, Zod is incredible both in motives, design and personality (Shannon is just ridiculously good), the imagery and visuals are great, the CGI are spectacular and above everything else, the fighting scenes are just absurd. As in, absurdly good. They're some of the best fighting scenes in anything to me. To this day this movie is one of the only ones where I have the raw feeling and scale of absolute, catastrophic destruction two superpowered beings fighting each other would cause. The only other movie I can think of that, no matter the flaws in story or anything, manages to recapture this sense of apocalyptic destruction is Transformers Dark Side of the Moon with the battle of Chicago. You can TASTE the end of the world and the raw destruction and power in a way no other movie has accomplished for me. It's an orgy of pure devastation no movie, not even the likes of Infinity War or Endgame, has managed to replicate for now. Even the lower scale scenes like against Faora are just incredible and deliver power like nowhere else. It doesn't magically erase its problems (the pacing, the brief parts of humor that really don't work, the characterization for some characters and the drowning kids) but still.

And I'll admit, while he definitely isn't perfect, I've grown to hold a degree of contempt the Snyder hate since I feel it just became gratuitous and hate for the sake of hate to the point of inventing stuff (like how he's supposedly a neo nazi) and it goes way too far sometimes (like that tiny incident where Snyder haters MOCKED THE FACT HIS DAUGHTER KILLED HERSELF BY SAYING IT'S ALL HIS FAULT and she DESERVED IT because she was his daughter and even made MEMES from it and send them to him. I don't care what you think of Snyder and I don't care how bad his movies are, if you do that, you're just a massive piece of shit who deserves to be punched). Again, I have my own problems with Snyder and I mercilessly pick apart what I think is bad in his movies (like basically everything in Rebel Moon) and his cultists are definitely shitty people (not fans, cultists and they definitely fit the definition to me) but his haters are no better. At all.
