Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

The only one called a universe is the one with 5 stages inside it, from Chaos.

Otherwise they’re in different space times though

and all others that are all equally referred as the same thing, "Special Stages", wouldn't because? If you want to affirm they are different... you kind of have to give a reason for that

IIRC, aren't they only called universes in the English version of Sonic Chaos' manual? IIRC, the Japanese manuals only called it "different space", "different space-time" or "different dimension".

Yeah? But then again... the English manual for Chaos is pretty accurate to the Japanese one

Except the one in Chaos is specifically an amalgamation of multiple special stages, rather than a singular one.

When the revisions go through to say that every different space time qualifies as low 2-C I’ll be fine, but if it’s based on actual size the most demonstrated is MSS for visuals. I kinda have a similar issue with the Arabian nights but, the existence of a pocket dimension of MSS size inside the greater Nights might make it okay as Low 2-C anyway.

no? the one in Chaos just so happens to house all the emeralds cause they went there... where did you this Special Stage Dimension is somehow a fusion of multiple dimensions?

Again... since did Starry backgrounds disprove Universal Sizes?

I mean isn’t that literally what’s accepted rn? All the special stages in that game housed in one universe (because all the special stages are made to contain an emerald each)

Doesn’t disprove but doesn’t prove either, uni size for individual stages is burden of proof on you.

We, in fact, don't accept that this Special Stage Dimension is a fusion of several other special stage dimensions... no... again, where did you get that from?

I already proved it, again, any reason for one Special Stage Dimension to be billions of times bigger than all others?

Because it means the one universe is holding multiple special stages? Meaning that multiple special stages fit in one universe?

But if all the stages showcase at most, MSS size via visuals, then you could feasibly stick every special stage in the franchise inside one universe spatially.

Do we consider each type of Special Stages unique or do we consider them all to be the same size? The latter seems to be the case currently going off of the cosmology page.

In case we do for the former, that means 6 Chaos Emeralds (or was it 5??) would have another feat of creating a 6 space-time continuum, going off of Chaos' special stages taking place in a parallel universe.

I can watch and share my thoughts soon if you want. What I agree with won't usually abide by the website's standards, if you’re more interested in the latter.

It's funny how all the characters (even Omega and Zavok) can survive being crushed like nothing but Starline died from being crushed, disadvantages of not appearing in the games I guess...
The tonal divide is funny, and also honestly a little annoying to see. Like, Starline dies to being crushed, but Eggman survives his entire body being blown apart in Lost World. How could any injury matter to him if he can survive that, and why can he but others can't. Stuff like that can be a little bit annoying.

Don't even get me started on Fraudmic aka Mimic.

That's just because the IDW writers do things completely different than the game writers.
I don't think it's that, really. SA2 would have had Sonic die to a space pod if he hadn't warped out, and he lost to being slammed against a wall in 06. It's just a franchise and tone thing I feel, not writer dependent.

CD had Metal knocked out via door, 3 had Super Sonic beaten by someone literally jumping against him, and so on.

Difference is the former is a space pod made by Eggman and the latter was Silver TKing him.

The space pod seems to just be ARK tech, not something made by Eggman I think. But even then, the explosion that Eggman somehow came back from is larger than the one that would've killed Sonic. So, either way, there are examples in the games as well of inconsistent scale/scope.

The farthest i could get characters from CD up to the point both face each other is High 8-C, the High 5-A feat was done at the end of the game. And as for the last one, I think it's self-evident why that one wouldn't make sense narratively... Unless somehow Knuckles was already at the level of a Super Form and Sonic then grew to his level. Not sure if anyone would entertain that idea.

Just wondering about how people in here feel about the scaling in here. Not saying arguing if it's true or not, just looking for opinions.

Watched the video on 2x so maybe I missed something, but tbh, I can see this working as a really, really big high ball scaling, but aside from that, the only thing we could try to use in our scaling is Eggman's quote at the beginning of Forces regarding the power of the PR prototype that Infinite uses (yeah, the "thousandfold/trillionfold" quote)

Yeah. Scaling like this is useful in countering similar highballs in other series. It's way easier than putting in the effort to debunk outerversal Mario or Dragon Ball.
